I love this video!!! I was born around 2002 so I was there a lot in the late 2000s early 2010s and I definitely miss those times Such an amazing place especially at night I’ve herd recently it may be going under which honestly breaks my heart Anyway thx for making and posting!
Worked there from 97-04 in Personnel and 04-06 as a Ride Technician year round. This video is funny because I was there for all of these changes, and was part of many such as removing the Pepsi Wonder Bear and replacing the decking where the City Jet was.
Yea man. Was the Head Ride Safety and Ops Trainer way back when too. Trained people on every ride obviously, including in your video the Skydiver, which Jay gave me the sign to in 2000 and it's in my yard, both Giant Wheels, the old Loop O Plane, Cityjet, etc. Yea man any questions feel free to ask. When I was 16 I also frequently worked the old Music Express and when I started working spring maintenance I was on the team that took down the old one and put up the new one, in like 99 or 00.
…………….. I… have not… seen… the Wonderland Bear Bounce or the Alien Invasion entrance… in many… many years. Thank you for this… Also, rip the rides I never experienced and the Wonderland model.
I am not trying to diss wonderland because the log flume is my favorite ride in OC but how come they are taking out all of the fun rides like the galleon and the runaway train?
I actually watched them tear the old wheel down when I was in high school. I’d love to see old pictures of demolition/construction process. What happened to the original wheel? Why was it taken down?
It was a used wheel when they got it and already very antiquated technology. It used a cable drive instead of hydraulic. It also used an air brake which was awesome by the way! . It was dismantled and sold to a park in South Africa. The new wheel was the first Giant Wheel that company produced. The original wheel was a lot larger FYI. The owners decided a more reliable and newer system would be cost effective. The same company built the smaller wheel at Playland.
Very fascinating! How much bigger was the old wheel? I always knew the old wheel looked bigger, but was previously told that they were about the same. I would love to see pictures of the removal/construction process.
The old wheel was 138 feet high but the cars came almost to ground level to load. The newer one is 146 feet but if you notice the wheel itself gets loaded from the boardwalk level deck and is raised. The overall circumference of the older was bigger and if I remember it had 36 cars but they were like twice the size of the newer ones cars which has either 36 or 38.
Ok, I see. I’m just worried about Gillian’s lately. It seems as if they’ve significantly decreased the amount of rides available. I noticed they took out Galleon ship. I haven’t seen them operate Frisbee yet.
MAN! Wonderland WAS my childhood., I'd give anything to have those days back & I'm almost 40, LOL I too used to set up my stuffed animals when I was a kid & give them little musical instument toys. Except instead of Man & Dog I would have them emulate the monkey band. I didn't have a tape recorder then so I'd just hum the music to myself. Those monkeys really mesmarized me as a kid
September 1997, The Man and Dog still played the traditional sally corp shows, I guess you missed out on hearing Hank or Tony's name because you were saying in that little vid, "The man, the dog...."
Yeah, I was only 4. My memory doesn't kick in until around '98/ '99. Which explains a lot. Plus, it was still the same songs, and after awhile of listening to them, it all becomes the same.
@@Actors317 Speaking of which, I found a couple days ago that a park called Gloria's Fantasyland in Dapitan City, Philippines had bought it when Wonderland removed it and they spent 4-5 years working on it (probably because it is prone to have a lot of downtime), but it finally reopened in late 2016 as Sky Drop. It's one of the very few Sling Shots left operating.
I wonder, when you watched Shining Time Station, did you stay for the Thomas the Tank Engine segments? Every episode of Shining Time Station featured 2 Thomas episodes per episode from s1, s2, or s3. As stated by Wikipedia.

@@Actors317 I've been supporting you since I think last year I found you and since I saw you singing eye to eye thought that your video work was so awesome and I watch your videos everyday I subscribed and I and I am just obsessed with watching your videos
Actually I have a theory. In the 90s, Bubba’s arms didn’t move and Antonio’s eyes didn’t open. Then in the 2000s and 2010s, Antonio has his eyes open most of the time and Bubba’s arms move. Then when they put the old dialogue back in, Bubba’s arms stopped moving again, but Antonio’s eyes are ALWAYS OPEN. My theory: the programming from the 90s is working properly on Bubba’s arms, but with Antonio’s eyelids, *it’s reversed.* I’m not sure how accurate this is but I think it’s an interesting theory.
By far your the best UA-camr ever!
Thank you.

I think the galleon had issues
