I am Japanese. Through online English lessons,I became interested in Filipino songs and languages. I will never forget the shock when I heard Gento and Pantropiko for the first time. When I listened to those songs, I felt that ppop had a wonderful charm that kpop doesn't have. kpop is popular worldwide, but I hope that one day jpop and ppop will be as popular as kpop.

Before KPOP, Most Filipinos(mainly anime fans) are into JPOP. It's just that it's very hard to find Japanese content on the internet during the 1990s and Translation apps don't exist. Most Japanese songs are titled/written in Japanese while most Korean songs are titled in ENGLISH. You can also easily find Nugu KPOP groups online compared to JPOP artists. From what I know, Japan is gatekeeping its music industry so it will sustain your local economy and will give your home talents careers in music and to preserve your local culture. To make things worse, Japan also has JASRAC which has draconian restrictions on music licensing and distribution. There was a time in Filipino music when it completely died when the KPOP boom happened especially with 2NE1 in 2009.
just saying but jpop is actually rlly famous here in the Philippines, mostly anime songs now but if u try to listen to old rap songs from a decade ago? u will hear that the rhythm is actually from a japanese music like hambog ng sagpro krew's alaala nalang (yiruma's as the river flows) and repablikan's first love (utada hikaru's first love).
See that? Sb19 and Bini respect each other. So we fans stop toxicity and comparison tayo tayo lang din gumagawa ng pagaawayan ng mga fandoms. Not just a'tins and blooms even the kpop fandoms.
Not a pop fan, but I started listening to PPOP this year because I appreciate the talent of groups like SB19 and Bini, pero yung discovery ko ng fan wars yung nakaka turn-off para sa akin (and apparently it happens a lot with international groups as well). I don't understand bakit nag gogrupo at nag aaway ang mga "fandoms". Parang mga gang lang haha nakaka discourage tuloy umattend ng events to avoid getting associated and getting involved sa conflicts.

SB19 came at a time when K-pop was topping music charts and people were crazy about K-pop. SB19, however, braved against the tide to make their own mark by creating their own music coming from the Filipino heart and soul to be introduced into and to penetrate the Western and K-pop dominated industry. It was a big dream and challenge, for which they received a lot of harsh criticisms, but with sheer determination, world-class talent and love for their craft, they overcame and conquered. It's only right to credit SB19 for breaking down the barriers, for opening the door and paving the way for P-pop's rise. Hats off to Brett Jackson for acknowledging that fact and for giving SB19 the honor they deserve to be called P-pop kings.

PABLO's command is truly unmatched! When he speaks, everyone listens. That's a striking leadership quality right there! Also, we can tell by the way he speaks how much God has become a part of his life - praying for the fans' health and well-being, and assuring them that, while they may not achieve their dreams now, in God's perfect time, it'll come. When you "don't know what else to say" but continues to spit facts, ignite challenge, and empower to inspire, then you know you've got the Pinuno right there! This is why I wouldn't skip or miss a single interview of SB19/its individual members. There is always something to learn from, get inspired from. Truly, SB19 embodies this mantra: "Mata sa langit, paa sa lupa."
And to add to your point, I never felt the need to explain why Pablo is my bias/fave among the Mahalima, because they know who wouldn't. His presence is truly inspiring, you would even see him proudly beaming when his co-members get to contribute to the conversation. Grabe, they've been through a lot to be this golden.

What separates an actual artist from other forms of entertainer is the song they put out is customized to their own personalities, characters, etc.

Actually, Ken has deeper intentions. He wants to promote Bisayan language, as it is a beautiful language/dialect. Player 2 can speak Bisaya hence he supported them, this is his way of leading them and maybe some more other artists. To Ken, as a Bisaya myself, we are proud of you (I know there were some songs in Bisaya that were hits before) but suddenly stopped (or I just didn't aware of it). If this we call a revival, but again Felip has the huge responsibility now to push this on another level! Thank you Ken!

What I somehow understood between the lines of what Josh said: Prior to BINI, it was only SB19 really making the rounds. There were other Ppop groups, but not at the level of SB19. Industry-wise, does it mean that success can only be achieved by SB19, or can it be achieved by PPop as a whole? SB19 must have felt a bit lonely and as what they have always advocated, they want to see PPop rise as a whole. So when BINI made it, that's the answer to their vision that its possible. It's not just succcess because of a unique formula of SB19 and A'tin but it can be replicated and scaled to the rest of the industry. In short, the follow-through success of BINI after SB19 was the confirmation that PPop as an industry can rise.

Eye-opener for Filipinos na tangkilikin muna ang sariling artists natin before sa ibang bansa. Patronize our own. Sa ibang bansa kasi d naman tinatangkilik ng mga foreigner ang mga artists natin katulad ng sa atin. Yan minsan d ko maintindihan sa mga Pinoy. Paano natin i mamarket ang talents natin sa ibang bansa kung dito pa lang d marunong mag appreciate ng totoong talent/s.
It's not because they support Filipino first but because SB19 and Bini produce great songs. Remember that consumers want something that is worth listening to invest their time with. This is how you make products. "Support local products" is not a marketing scheme and companies should run astray from it. It sounds desperate but can't deliver any effective service.

I’ve said this before, I’m so happy and fortunate that SB19 opened my eyes to PPOP. Kasi it wasn’t really my thing back then but now, I have a renewed appreciation for OPM because of SB19. Kaya naman pala ng mga Pilipino to write, produce, creatively direct, high quality songs and music videos that would take the world by storm. Before, parang suntok sa buwan for international artists to collaborate or sing/dance our music. Pero grabe how gento is still at its peak of virality in china and japan almost 2yrs after its release date. Posible naman pala and I hope more groups will be given the chance to be heard. I am a writer at sobrang tagal ko nang hindi nakakapagsulat but thank God for these young people who keep on inspiring me to continue despite all the struggles in life. Felip/Ken is something else. I love how deep he is as a person. Though he may not be as articulate as some think, it's because public speaking isn't his strength, kasi nga introvert sya by nature. Let's wait for the time na ma master niya ang art ng pagsasalita then it's game over. I live for this man's art, his expression, and his talent. He is truly one of a kind in our country, unmatched in my opinion.

With all the fan wars happening everyday, sobrang laking bagay na sa kanila mismo nanggaling; Josh acknowledging na P-pop boomed after Bini's rise and Gwen and Colet acknowledging na it was SB19 who pushed the doors for the other groups since sarado pa talaga noon ang mga tao sa concept ng boy and girl groups. This was such a good interview, BBPH!!! I hope fans can focus more on the P-pop rise movement instead of pitting them against each other all the time, especially after this vid where you can tell there is just so much love, respect, and admiration between these two groups. I am Japanese. Through online English lessons,I became interested in Filipino songs and languages. I will never forget the shock when I heard Gento and Pantropiko for the first time. When I listened to those songs, I felt that ppop had a wonderful charm that kpop doesn't have. kpop is popular worldwide, but I hope that one day jpop and ppop will be as popular as kpop.

Before KPOP, Most Filipinos(mainly anime fans) are into JPOP. It's just that it's very hard to find Japanese content on the internet during the 1990s and Translation apps don't exist. Most Japanese songs are titled/written in Japanese while most Korean songs are titled in ENGLISH. You can also easily find Nugu KPOP groups online compared to JPOP artists.
From what I know, Japan is gatekeeping its music industry so it will sustain your local economy and will give your home talents careers in music and to preserve your local culture. To make things worse, Japan also has JASRAC which has draconian restrictions on music licensing and distribution.
There was a time in Filipino music when it completely died when the KPOP boom happened especially with 2NE1 in 2009.

just saying but jpop is actually rlly famous here in the Philippines, mostly anime songs now but if u try to listen to old rap songs from a decade ago? u will hear that the rhythm is actually from a japanese music like hambog ng sagpro krew's alaala nalang (yiruma's as the river flows) and repablikan's first love (utada hikaru's first love).

Not a pop fan, but I started listening to PPOP this year because I appreciate the talent of groups like SB19 and Bini, pero yung discovery ko ng fan wars yung nakaka turn-off para sa akin (and apparently it happens a lot with international groups as well). I don't understand bakit nag gogrupo at nag aaway ang mga "fandoms". Parang mga gang lang haha nakaka discourage tuloy umattend ng events to avoid getting associated and getting involved sa conflicts.

SB19 came at a time when K-pop was topping music charts and people were crazy about K-pop. SB19, however, braved against the tide to make their own mark by creating their own music coming from the Filipino heart and soul to be introduced into and to penetrate the Western and K-pop dominated industry. It was a big dream and challenge, for which they received a lot of harsh criticisms, but with sheer determination, world-class talent and love for their craft, they overcame and conquered. It's only right to credit SB19 for breaking down the barriers, for opening the door and paving the way for P-pop's rise. Hats off to Brett Jackson for acknowledging that fact and for giving SB19 the honor they deserve to be called P-pop kings.

Also, we can tell by the way he speaks how much God has become a part of his life - praying for the fans' health and well-being, and assuring them that, while they may not achieve their dreams now, in God's perfect time, it'll come. When you "don't know what else to say" but continues to spit facts, ignite challenge, and empower to inspire, then you know you've got the Pinuno right there!
This is why I wouldn't skip or miss a single interview of SB19/its individual members. There is always something to learn from, get inspired from. Truly, SB19 embodies this mantra: "Mata sa langit, paa sa lupa."

Actually, Ken has deeper intentions. He wants to promote Bisayan language, as it is a beautiful language/dialect. Player 2 can speak Bisaya hence he supported them, this is his way of leading them and maybe some more other artists.

What I somehow understood between the lines of what Josh said:
Prior to BINI, it was only SB19 really making the rounds. There were other Ppop groups, but not at the level of SB19. Industry-wise, does it mean that success can only be achieved by SB19, or can it be achieved by PPop as a whole? SB19 must have felt a bit lonely and as what they have always advocated, they want to see PPop rise as a whole. So when BINI made it, that's the answer to their vision that its possible. It's not just succcess because of a unique formula of SB19 and A'tin but it can be replicated and scaled to the rest of the industry. In short, the follow-through success of BINI after SB19 was the confirmation that PPop as an industry can rise.

I’ve said this before, I’m so happy and fortunate that SB19 opened my eyes to PPOP. Kasi it wasn’t really my thing back then but now, I have a renewed appreciation for OPM because of SB19. Kaya naman pala ng mga Pilipino to write, produce, creatively direct, high quality songs and music videos that would take the world by storm. Before, parang suntok sa buwan for international artists to collaborate or sing/dance our music. Pero grabe how gento is still at its peak of virality in china and japan almost 2yrs after its release date. Posible naman pala and I hope more groups will be given the chance to be heard. Let’s continue to support PPOP and its movement. Ang layo na natin at mas malayo pa ang mararating natin. 💙

I am a writer at sobrang tagal ko nang hindi nakakapagsulat but thank God for these young people who keep on inspiring me to continue despite all the struggles in life. I absolutely love how they give each other the credit they both deserve when it comes to paving the way for P-pop. With all the fan wars happening everyday, sobrang laking bagay na sa kanila mismo nanggaling; Josh acknowledging na P-pop boomed after Bini's rise and Gwen and Colet acknowledging na it was SB19 who pushed the doors for the other groups since sarado pa talaga noon ang mga tao sa concept ng boy and girl groups. This was such a good interview, BBPH!!! I hope fans can focus more on the P-pop rise movement instead of pitting them against each other all the time, especially after this vid where you can tell there is just so much love, respect, and admiration between these two groups.
