Possibly the best troll job of all time, they name michael as team boss
Mario is director lol
Heads would roll
Michael WILL be calling the shots behind the scenes. Don't be fooled.
@@TommoMcCluskey
Which would be great 😂
Once officially in, they’ll later announce the team name change to Andretti Cadillac with Michael as Team Boss
The Andretti name being hidden was petty on Liberty's part. I have to wonder if Michael finds his way to racetrack every week, and how much time the Liberty bosses spend trying to keep him off camera.
I bet this is why the CEO was fired last week.
Like - he must have REALLY ruffled feathers.
@TommoMcCluskey
You know he did, Tommo.
@@Lanse1984 What utter rubbish. He announced he was stepping down months ago.
I mean....he doesn't even own much of his own company that bears his name, he won't last long imo
I just looked at the Wayback Machine (which shows you older archived versions of a webpage if they've managed to get a screenshot of)and the article did originally say Andretti Cadillac F1 team instead of just Cadillac so that is quite interesting because that could just be a simple mistake or it could be a big mistake about the true intentions that they want to hide
EDIT: I just saw that there is also a screenshot from July 29th for the same article. And the article is dated as 14th of November 2023 which is quite odd
Interesting that the team instantly gets accepted once Andretti isn't in the name of the team.
Why is that?
@@petabaigent Liberty Media had a vendetta against Andretti
Michael really did PISS people off
@petabaigent Michael was kinda run out of F1 when he was a driver.
Yeah because the Andrettis were lying about how much money they had.
For those predicting two young drivers: that’s not going to happen. Herta seems to be almost a lock based on previous comment and two relativity inexperienced drivers most likely won’t happen. The most realistic option is probs something like Herta/Bottas or Riccardo
Herta & Perez would make a lot of sense too. Plus allows Checo to rebuild somewhere new.
Didn’t think of that. It would help with the American image
What about Pato O'Ward? Makes sense considering Chevrolet's partnership with Arrow Mclaren and O'ward being the most popular Indy driver in the US.
Maybe a long shot, but what about Alex Palou? He is by far the best Indycar driver right now and is on Max Verstappen levels of dominance in the series having won 3 titles in his first 5 season including back to back wins in 2023 and 2024. This might be Palou's only shot at getting into F1
Ricciardo would definitely make sense for marketing but idk if they’d want a driver who has been dropped by his last 2 teams for underperforming.
Kyle Larson would be very interesting since he called out Verstappen
That would be hilarious if Larson is challenging Verstappen for the championship.
Having said that though, I don’t think Larson would have a chance tbh. He’d probably be at the level of Norris/Sainz at best.
@@gameofender4463 he’d probably be at the level of Sargeant at best. The only time he raced single seaters was in the Indy 500 and he finished 18th. He’s also 32 so he doesn’t have much time to improve.
Kyle Larsen is vastly overestimating his abilities lol
@@UA-camWatcher9000 nah i think he’d be Sauber Bottas or K-mag level. Definitely better than sargeant
@UA-camWatcher9000 he finished 18th due to a penalty, speeding on pitlane I believe. Rookie mistake sure, but he was running in the top 10 all day before it.
Based on what he said in the High Performance Pod, Otmar would be perfect to build a team like this from the ground up.
Hope he gets the gig.
No i want steiner back :D
Otmar - the man that accepted zero responsibility for the mess he helped create
Otmar, and you can throw Steiner into this too, are not it anymore.
In Szafnauer we trust.
@@philipmeisterl You understand Otmar Szafnauer is American and Steiner isn't, right?
I now have fresh Daniel Riccardo Copium for the next year. Thanks
Haha Daniel is pretty big in the US so that could be a factor for Andretti to sign him
I love Daniel but his time in f1 is over.
@@jamorfati Yeah. At this point, he should stay away. For his own good.
@@roguescorner9042Daniel was alright, he can still do a reasonable job, he was certainly driving better than Perez. I don’t see why he cant drive at the same level as a late stage Kimi Raikkonen.
He would fit the brand perfectly and is as good as the other veteran options if they'll look for a proven driver soo... ;)
It was never about NOT having an 11th team, it was always about NOT having an Andretti team. Also, money.
What is wrong with the Andretti team?
@@BobbyGeneric145 Seems Andretti the owner had beef with many higher ups in both FIA and Liberty Media. So he made enemies and he got rejected.
@@BobbyGeneric145 Andretti is not afraid to call out F1 management
it was also about the DOJ threatening an anti trust investigation
I still don’t understand the big problem with Andretti in regards to F1- what’s their specific problem with him?
This is purely not calling it Andretti until Maffei leaves this winter. It will be called Andretti somehow by time its on the grid
He’s already director of it
The Andrettis dont really own much of the entry anymore. Michael lost a ton of money in a failed AI company.
@@TheDeityRyanbut the name is still worthwhile. Same way the Williams family doesn’t own Williams… Richard Petty didn’t own the Petty NASCAR team for a long time. The name holds value.
We need yellow and black back as livery colours 😅
7:05 Otmar being from Detroit, makes him garunteed the spot, Americans work diffrent and will always choose an american first regardless 😂
Imo, for the drivers I think it might be Herta & Perez. One would be a new driver and the other has lots of F1 experience and fans. Perfect for everyone.
Although Larson & Bottas as a driver lineup might be very interesting too.
Perez and Bottas are washed up. We need to concentrate on a new generation of young dynamic drivers.
@@CheshireTomcat68 But when you're building a team, you generally benefit from having a more experienced driver even if they are washed. They provide a lot of value just through their knowledge.
Herta would be dependent on him getting enough Super License points, which is possible, but not a guarantee.
I think a better choice, probably the best choice from the current Indycar drivers would be Alex Palou.
@@Mr.X2188I believe he qualified for this after this 2024 season in Indycar. I believed he finished P3 in the final standings.
@GTflyer0116 Ah, ok. I actually just looked to confirm, he actually finished 2nd in the points. So yeah, he would have enough Super License points in 2026.
That said, I do think Palou would be the better choice given he is the best Indycar driver right now, but given it is Andretti's team, it will almost certainly be Herta.
Only been into F1 for just over a year, but it seems like pretty much everyone wants another team in. From a new persons point of view, I still find it weird that Red Bull has two teams on the grid, but hey, another team is fun. Keep up the awesome work Mr. Tommo! ❤
RB used to be a independent team named Minardi, but they went bust a long time ago and got bought out by Red Bull
@@VioletEyes_officialcos no-one else would buy them so rb got the gig
It is wierd. Cant force them to sell it off, but they should be pressured more to do so. It is clearly wrong
I think everyone finds Red Bull's double team thing weird.
"This is not a drill, my name is Tommo"
I believe that
bruh im stoked to see this. I PRAY the car sounds half as good as their Hypercar
Principal: Otmar
Drivers: Pato O'ward and Jak Crawford/ Drugovich
Engine: Honda (Indy Car link makes sense to me for some reason)
Possible idea: maybe they'll have a driver from formula E coming instead of IndyCar. Might work
Think AM signed an exclusive works deal
@harry4454 damn. That's why there's a Ferrari link
@ yeah and with Sauber leaving Ferraris pool it basically leaves a free spot
Rumors in IndyCar is that they are leaving Honda at end of next season for Chevy
I would like to see Colapinto and Crawford as drivers.
Lineup prediction: Herta/O’ward(or drugovich)
there is zero chance they pull two drivers that have never been in an F1 car for a representative event before.
@@ryanaertelwe will see
@@Bexmadenah herta has been mentioned but no way 2 non f1 drivers
Buch of no talent circle racers.
@@ronbelanger4113 all of them are former f2 drivers though, and drugovich is aston martins current reserve driver. What are you on about?
Ideal: Colton x Valtteri
Dream: Colton x Max
Crazy: Colton x Pato
Underdog: Kyle x KMag
Why would Max even be a dream? New team will start at the back and it will take at least 5 years to build the team. Also they cant afford Max.
I want Herta/O’Ward but it’ll probably be Herta/Ricciardo or Bottas
Dixion vs Alonso would be fire
It's an overly obvious guess. But new team needs learning and cost reduction. Good chance of Bottas/Ricciardo - lots of feedback on the car, relatively low damage. Daniel is extremely marketable and is probably the most American driver in the pool, Valterri is a feedback machine and keeps it clean. Both have driven for the 2 most successful teams of the modern era (between RB and Merc they have 12 straight Drivers Champions)
Great ANOTHER blue livery. I personally prefer the yellow on one of their WEC cars
"if they deserve to be here" . That's one of the last thing that matters in F1, politics and money come first. Either way it's exciting to greet a new team.
That's the last thing that matters in the world. Sad truth.
Happy days indeed :D
Now we need your redesign instead of that horrific render ;)
And I can imgagine, that GM is pushing for an SC contract for the American races.
That would be fun to see, especially the Escalade as a medical car ;D
Lineup easily gonna be Latifi and Sargeant
Somebody has to run the team right. Also Bottas/Herta has to be the favourite combo but whoever supplies the engine may have a say in one of the seat.
Fantastic 2026 will see two new teams in Audi and Cadillac (GM).
I hope Cadillac gets the engine and gearbox from Mercedes.
I'm also looking forward to Bortoleto in the Audi. I can hardly wait for 2026!🎉
Depending on how he feels Alpine is looking for the change up I reckon Gasly could be a good shout. Experienced team leader with years ahead of him. Still on the pace that some of the other experienced drivers don't have with no real prospect of moving forward. Also had a brief stint working with Otmar.
I feel like the team not being called Andretti is literally just for now to shut whoever has a problem with it up. By the time they come into the sport, they will have Andretti in the name, somehow.
And as for the TP and Drivers. Otmar is definitely up there as one of, If not the best, choices for the role. He's experienced and a decent TP as previously proven. Not the greatest, but from those available, he defo is the best option. And drivers... I would love to see Stoffel back in F1 (but that ain't happening, unfortunately) so probably either Bottas or Danny Ric (more likely Bottas, since he's still now doing a decent job in a dreadful car, whereas Danny was doing... fine-ish) and the other probably Herta, he'd be great, or Pato. Either would be cool
To answer your inquiry around 7:08, Buick is still General Motors. It's Opel and Vauxhall that became part of Stellantis.
Livery would be sick if they matched their IMSA LM car
Yess!! Yellow car in F1,
I think last time F1 sees yellow car is since Jordan times
They can always bring Andretti back at a later time into the team.I mean, it's not like when they signed a guarantee that he will never have any role within the team
If the conditions of Cadillac being allowed into F1 didn't include a ban on them partnering up with Andretti (which would be pretty damn petty and malicious), who's to say they can't just simply bring Andretti with them as a title sponsor or partner?
I mean, Sauber raced exclusively under the AlfaRomeo name for a couple of years, and that was just a sponsorship thing. Who's to say Cadillac can't race under the Andretti name if they do partner up in the future?
@roguescorner9042 yes, thats what I meant in my awkward phrasing😊
Imagine Scott Dixon and Colton Herta in F1...
Dixon is too old now. Palou is the obvious choice to bring across from Indycar.
Scott Dixon is like 95 years old.
they don't have the licence points lol
@@dannysstart2218 Dixon certainly does.
Dixon will be 46 when Cadillac enter F1 😂
Love it!
So... Otmar for Principal. So say we all?
Also drivers... Colton Herta and Pato O'Ward are high on the list but I've got a thought: Checo Perez. Checo is very popular in North America, brings loads of sponsors and name recognition, brings lots of modern F1 experience from a drive perspective, including being a driver involved in several Constructor Championship bids, and that experience is valuable even if he's had a poor run of form these past few years.
EDIT: I shouldn't post comments with the video not even half over :D
Steiner - Principal. Danny Ric & Colton Herta. Steiner has experience bringing a new team to success - I think HAAS finished 5th in their first season. Herta satisfies the American connection. Danny Ric - 8 times F1 winner, heaps of experience and will be able to give valuable feedback to the engineers of the car performance. Plus he loves the States and the states love him.
Really charged up on the possibilities surrounding this development Tommo! GM/Caddy/Andretti will definitely be "competitive" and Otmar Szafnauer would be the best option to get the Caddy F1 Team off the ground. Everything you brought up is valid and I think while there are ongoing concerns on money (Christian Horner has made his concerns clear), there are sporting offsets which I think could be employed in the first season or two to more readily incorporate the Caddy Team into the paddock while also keeping everyone (including GM/Caddy/Andretti) financially invested until long-term revenue generation and branding really kick-in. Andretti can still win in several (less public) ways as well! Haas having some fellow American team competition is beneficial as well, but for our European friends F1 is still your heritage and prestige. Cheers
So fucking excited. America having a team is very exciting. This opens the door for many more American drivers to get a shot at the grid atleast i would hope thats the case but im still excited eitherway. Now we need other brands to come in. Wheres Porsche at. Theyve always been known as the racing brand. Why the hell do they not race Formula 1?
Where is Haas based?
@@lauraweiss7875 It's a different thing. Gene Haas uses F1 as an investment engine, and fair enough that's his right and nothing wrong with it, but Andretti has for years now been working to build up American motorsport in general. The F1 team was only part of their approach, they've also been working to invest in competitive karting venues across North America which is huge for young American drivers who don't have the means or opportunity to move to Europe (like Checo Perez did at just 14 years old) to pursue motorsport.
Andretti is pushing for American jobs and development into Motorsport in America. Haas is just a team whose owner is American.
@@lauraweiss7875 they ruined that when they showed up with the russian flag liverie 😂
@@darkwarrior1194 Yeah that was bad together with Rich Energy scam.
@@lauraweiss7875Haas can piss off. I dont care where theyre based. Theyre not americas team. Never have been and never will be. Location of your headquarters is irrelevant. Which im pretty sure they dont even use that headquarters lol ive seen memes about it being abandoned so yeah. Now America has a team and answer me this. What engines does haas use? Yeah thats my point
Good for the sport..! and IMO the Business
I think it’s key to point this is still fully Andretti. All their personnel and facilities. Michael is still involved too, but more as an advisor. It’s all but name basically.
This is one of the most exciting bits of news I have heard come out of F1 in years! Am I slightly biased because I am currently commenting this from the GM Tech Center? Maybe… but I think most would agree with me. It has to be Otmar Szafnauer for Team Principal, he has proven himself to be a brilliant director and strategist. As for the drivers, I think Colton Herta is an obvious choice, the links are very apparent if the Super License points can clear. While I like the idea of Paloù, O’Ward, and other Indy drivers joining F1 as well, I think Magnussen might make the most sense, especially given the Magnussen family connection with GM and Jan being a part of Corvette Racing for decades. Very excited to see where this goes!
I'd like to see maybe Bottas and Maloney tbh. Maloney already has some links to Andretti's FE team and Bottas surely will find his way back on the grid eventually
Alex Palou and Daniel Riccardo/Franco Colapinto would be nice
Aye the hair is backk!
If Andretti is apart of this then Dennis Hauger. He is gonna dominate the field in Indy next for andretti, and with the f3 and f4 title then he is a good shout. The f2 stint we dont talk about😅 (not norwegian bias at all)
What F2 stint? 👀
Herta and Vettel. Seb had talked about maybe coming back. Be fun to see Seb with Cadillac and seeing shots of him in gear standing with Mario Andretti
Bottas seems like an obvious choice for me. Has performed near the highest level.
Race winner. Podium finisher at 2 different teams. Has gone up and at times beat Lewis. Or at least taken wins when Lewis wasn't able to.
Perez or K-Mag seems crazy over Bottas to me.
FINALLY! 2016 was last time there were 11 teams... So this is happening exactly 10 years later! 🤯
24:08 I was thinking Bottas too cuz of the quantity of experience that a new team like this one would need! And then maybe an American driver or an F2 one (currently or in the future without a seat or)
Marcus Ericsson and Colton Herta, my picks. Black and gold colors.
Shoutout to this Nolan Siegel guy. Got a good feeling about him and his future.
Great news! I want Andretti to throw a lot of money at Josef Newgarden to make the jump to F1. I know he’s had concerns with the cars and the competition but the best American Indy driver has got to do it.
they don't have the licence points....
with this and those potential hyundai rumours we could potentially have 24 cars on the grids again and i’m so hyped. not to mention 26 in F1 my team and my body is ready 🙏
As a Metro Detroiter my full allegiances will be for this team. So so hyped
I just love that Audi and Cadillac are joint in 26’
Audi is my favorite car manufacturer and I’m an American so I like that there’s going to be an American team now too!
Wish I could just skip 25’ at this point🤣
This calls for a livery prediction
Andretti/Cadillac Is about to show “Formula-1”?... The Pure Fury Of Americana!!!...
Great news. Now all the abandoned Renault Engineers Briatore sent to the job center are saved
TP: Otmar
Driver Line-Up: Herta + Drugovich
Let's goooo! Any wagers on Cadillac joining and Audi selling Sauber before 2026?
Never thought it would happen
Ngl they could bring in bottas and Ric for marketing, even if they are replaced in 2 seasons they could offer them moeny to be ambassadors for the F1 team, they love the US both are great in marketing campaings and both are previous race winners who also have experience with champion drivers and teams there is alot they could do for each other. They could also try and bring in an American and 2nd driver in some kinda Lewis & max situation
Tommo can you bring back your Cadillac livery’s? They were awesome.
If Checo's days in F1 are numbered, Pato O'Ward would be a very popular choice - he'd fill the stadium at the Circuit Hermanos Rodriguez and could bring some Mexican sponsorship, as there's lot of Mexican companies who'd want a slice of the American market. I think Franco Colapinto will be in one of the existing teams - WIlliams or whatever-Red Bulls-B-Team-is-now - come 2026.
That is quite interesting, I wonder how well they will do in their first season in F1
Williams 2020
Need BMW to return for float like a Cadillac sting like a bemmer
I think Tsunoda would be a good name for them to aim for. He has years of experience while still being young. He also needs to get out of the Red Bull setup, as they clearly don't respect him, and he could make that Cadilac team his own.
Bet the driver line up would be Colton Herta an Jake Dennis
As a Mexican, I believe that Checo is NOT an option. Pato O’Ward and Colapinto IMO would be an awesome combination.
Now that there are more drivers and another team involved... They need to think about giving points to drivers who end up below 10th in a race. If it helps, have the last 5 drivers get 0 points, if there isn't a way to give everyone except last place a point.
Colton Herta or Jak Crawford absolutely positively need to be one of American drivers for this team. If youre not advertising the Cadillac name in the States, where the heck else are you advertising it??
Even though Ugo Ugochukwu is a McLaren boy, i would love to see him in one of the seats.
Ever since i heard the news be confirmed, i have been saying i wanna see Kmag, and Herta in the seat. I dont care how unlikely it is, i just want it lol.
Nolan Siegel is literally a pay driver
If your an f2 driver or upcoming your life just got a whole lot better
Pushrod in F1 gonna be sick
Might be my kiwi blood speaking, but a Scott Dixon, Scott McLaughlin line up would be pretty powerful
Imagine they make Andretti a title sponsor, becoming the Andretti Cadillac F1 Team once more 😂😂😂
Will Cadillac get into F2 , F3 and Formula Academy as well ?
I would like to see a design using Pink or Yellow and Silver
Herta x Magnussen lineup incoming.
Edit: KMag raced for Cadillac in IMSA when he was dropped from Haas in 21'.
There is a team neither in the UK nor in Italy: Sauber, in Switzerland!
In a country btw, which made races like that illegal after the Le Mans crash...
Colton Herta has 32 superlicense points currently. If he doesn't finish in the top 10 in Indycar mext year he will have 31 (his P10 in 2022 won't count anymore). He'll need to finish P4 next year to have 40 points.
GM should buy JAGUAR to keep their Alpha platform from being discontinued and use that brand in Indycar and F1. Cadillac focus is EV cars and should race in Fromula E.
Patto award would be huge over here
Herta and Ric3
A few questions on the 11th. team. Will pre-qualifying be reintroduced, if not, what will the quali sessions look like with 22 cars? How many cars will go out at the end of each session? will the sessions be lengthened? A recent decision was made to retain the existing points system and not award points to the top 12 cars, will they need to re-assess this decision. Currently with points potentially going to half the grid, logically points for the top 11 finishers (or maybe more) would be the way to go. If they are going to utilise the Andretti facility near Silverstone will they be a UK or US team? Lastly the graphics people at Sky & F1 TV are going to be struggling to fit all 22 drivers into the current on screen graphics without us having to squint at the TV to see lap times and tyre choices for each driver, but I'm pretty sure that's something that Tommo could fix in the blink of an eye!
Pre-qualifying used to exist because there were more teams than places on the grid (26 is the maximum allowed). As such, it won't be reintroduced.
Nothing would change, perhaps a few more minutes in Qualifying session 1.
Absolutely nothing would change. Top 15 go to Q2, top 10 go to Q3
Just saw the livery, it's the old JPS colours
I think Perez is the obvious choice for 2026/27. They need an experienced head with American connections, even if that’s Mexican, there’s a massive Latino communities in the three US GP locations.
Plus it puts him in control of his own destiny. His experience would be excellent for helping the team grow and develop in its first couple years.
And in the circumstance that RB drop him at the end of this season instead of next (which unless he does something like win the championship, will be inevitable now) he gets a year with GM doing car development before returning to the grid
America loves Danny Ric!
The whole time it was moving goal posts, because F1 didn't take Seriously. They expected him to go away. When he brought in GM, and called F1's bluff. They were caught with egg on their face. So they doubled down.
It was never about not being valuable, it was always just Michael Andretti. They just didnt want that guy.
If you look at the preview on google of the Cadillac press release it still says Andretti Cadillac F1 🎉
The livery is called ‘The Vegas Nose’
It will not be RB powertrains in Cadillac cars if they are labeled “Ford”.
Crawford could be a good option. He was on par or better than Franco the entire f2 season, so it goes to show you, standings aren't everything in f2.
We have enough blue/white cars (especially icon indicators on the track map), so here's hoping that livery isn't final.
Yellow black be so much better
Bottas or Perez as a development driver. Herta for one seat, and if Red Bull doesn’t want to promote him, they could try and snipe Yuki.
Okay, 22 drivers, let's make the points the Top 11 now to keep it half the field reciving points.
Top 11 points can be
1st- 25
2nd- 22
3rd- 20
4th- 17
5th- 15
6th- 12
7th- 10
8th- 7
9th- 4
10th- 3
11th- 1
I feel like that K-Mag’s time in f1 is done after Abu Dhabi
Can every track hold 11 teams? I thought places like Monaco only had room for 10 teams on a race weekend. How would they decide who gets to compete at tracks with only 10 garages available?
I think its gonna some experienced F1 driver + Herta/O'Ward
Yeaaah, 2 more seats!! 🤩
Having more seats itself isn't interesting. Only if they are competitive. F1 2010 season came with 3 new teams, but non of those got a single point and where just in the way.
u gotta do a livery design for cadillac now
Team principal: Otmar
Drivers: kmag, Bottas (possibly Sainz) they need experience in the first year to build out the car. So at least one out of those 3 and then probably an American driver.
