Tony, thank you for being vulnerable and allowing us to join you on this wild adventure called life. It’s times like these that remind us to be thankful. Sometimes we’re placed in these situations to help others realize how fragile our lives are. Times of vulnerability allow for us to grow as humans and I appreciate all you do for this community on and off the bike.
Glad to see you were able to walk away from the fall and I hope everything turns out okay. Thank you for posting this video, it is always tough being vulnerable to the world but it is a reality of the sport. I had a similar fall last week during my first trip to mammoth, still sore but glad not to have broken anything on my body or on my bike haha.
I’m so glad to see you’re here with us. It’s a reminder if how dangerous this sport is, regardless of what you’re doing. Stay strong, dude. I hope there’s no big damage to your spine or neck. I had a gnarly rock climbing injury 7 years ago before I started riding that almost ended me (fell 15 on my back). I’m fine, but that feeling of….. what just happened… is scary.
This is an important video. A reminder that we enjoy a dangerous sport. Tony is more skilled than probably 90% of us and in literally 2 seconds his entire future could have been altered from a non feature. This shook me actually. Gear up and ride smart. Thank you Tony!
I saw your post on IG and came straight here! Tony that was scary and could have been much worse. I'm so glad you're ok man! No doubt this little hobby of ours is dangerous! We cannot let our guard down. Thank you for sharing! Wishing you a full recovery in body and mind.
Sorry about the crash. Be safe out there. I had an OTB crash on a staircase during a night ride a few years back. Scary stuff! Got to be thankful to be alive.
I would not feel bad about posting this. Everyone falls and makes mistakes, but not everyone learns from those falls or gets back on the bike. No one should give you any sh*t about it. That is a tough fall and glad you bounced back with such a positive attitude. I just found your channel recently and appreciate all that you do. Stay safe and keep up the good work!
Hey Tony, glad to see you're OK and no major consequence. Like a lot of us here who follow you we've been in that exact same position. In my personal experience, these type of crashes that don't "injure" you, are more of a "mental crash". You start to think of all the things that could have gone wrong and so we become extremely appreciative of EVERTYHING because you literally could have died or had a severe injury that could have changed your life forever. Also, these type of crashes have only made me a better rider overall so you have to look at the positive side to this. You lived to ride another day and that's what it's all about. Be safe and keep sharing your content as it is much appreciated.
Tony, so happy you're ok and hope you have a speedy recovery. Mtbing is a rough and tumble sport, the easiest portion of the the trail sometimes can grab you! I try to be 💯 all the time!
Glad you're okay. I had a bad crash years ago where I lost my sense of taste and smell for a year. I also suffered cervical spine injury. All I can suggest is TAKE REALLY GOOD CARE OF YOUR SPINE. Rest, plenty of rest. Feel better soon brother and get back to riding soon!
Thanks for the openness. I broke my back in 06 it’s beyond the physical that need to heal. The mind can do a # on us. Slow and steady. I had to face some fears but you can’t let them win. Keep peddling, happy trails.
Take your time and heal up. I have arthritis so bad I'll probably never be able to ride again so I have to live my life through you and your videos. Take care.
Dude, Tony .. thank God you’re ok🙏 just want to also say, you probably already hear this a lot, but thanks for being such a welcoming person in this community. Trust that a lot of us really appreciate what you do , not that you ever question that lol, but just a friendly reminder that we care alot about you dude :)
Glad you're ok Tony! You are honestly a huge reason I ride my MTB as much as I do. Ever since I watched your Fullerton Loop guide years ago and it gave me the confidence to tackle it with my old 2019 X-Caliber. I've also gotten my confidence back watching all your crashes. Just because I know you got up and kept riding. I've had some bad crashes but I keep going. Keep the content up and we love you dude.
I did a superman over the bars years ago. The tuck and roll I learned from my martial arts days saved me from breaking my collar bone (though it was severely bruised) and my helmet had a similar indentation where I hit the ground (the interior was also cracked like yours). That helmet saved my life!!! It's humbling. I remember everything being in slow motion. Hitting the ground also knocked the wind out of me and I almost passed out. It definitely is a "ride" altering experience. The experience hasn't stopped me from riding. It just gave me a level of awareness that I was lacking before the crash. Live and learn!
Thank you for allowing us to be there with you and showing us the Good, the bad, and the ugly of mountain biking. Also, I ride, and sometimes I take falls, and it sucks, but we get back on the saddle and I ride again.
Hi Tony - I have knocked the wind out of myself many times. The trick is to lay on your back, extend your arms and legs (like a snow angel), and relax. By doing this, you open up your chest and lungs to get your breath back. Glad you are okay, dude.
Wow. So happy to see the helmet did its job! Thanks for sharing and you're right, these things can happen when we least expect them. Good reminder to me to not just worry about the big gnarly features, but to be present, alert, and dialed in throughout. Glad you're ok.
We are all VERY GRATEFUL that you are still here Tony, and better riders because of it. Thanks so much for throwing yourself out there and keeping it real by sharing, we're all going to take something away from this to make us better. Looking forward to our next group ride and riding with you again soon.
Glad you’re ok, this stuff gets real, real fast sometimes. I had a super similar experience on rock garden trail in SLO first wreck that made me nervous to get back on the bike. Don’t rush back on and take care!
So glad to see that you are ok now. Crashes are never a laughing matter and that was a really bad crash. Thank you for taking the time to make this video and stressing the need to be careful, be alert and not over do it.
As a father of 4, these types of accidents are my worst fear when mountain biking. I feel you when you say you are so thankful, after seeing your crash I am thankful that nothing more serious happened to you. I don’t like seeing anyone getting injured. I wish you a healthy recovery.
So glad you’re okay Tony! Safety is sooo important! That’s the one thing I will never cheap out on and I tell all my friends that same thing! I just got into biking not too long ago and I have 3 different helmets now for 3 different kinds of riding. Thanks for sharing this with us!
It’s crazy how your world could completely a change in a instant. Stay safe , heal up and enjoy Groveland. Drove past there a few weeks ago and I’m looking forward what the city has to offer.
F .... We're all glad that, that wasn't what it could've been. (Luck is on thing.)You got blessed out there Tony. It's hard not to enjoy the surroundings on some of these rides but, there you have it. That was very hard to watch but, Thanks for reminding us that safety still comes first. Get better Sir. 👍👍👍
Where"s Pipper Pup !! LOL ! Hey Tony ! I met you in the parking lot at Snow Valley on Sunday. Me and two of my friends from GGR Inland Empire. It was Such a surprise to see you , just sorry you had a bad fall. I'm glad you are ok and Thank you for letting us get a pic with you. Take care and enjoy your time up north with Pipper Pup. see you on the trail, Cat
So glad you're okay after that freak crash... those are usually the ones that get you hurt. I've been there many times, just riding along and boom, you're in the dirt! You said it perfectly, NEVER take riding for granted no matter how routine the trail might be. It's one of the best things about riding mountain bikes... you've usually gotta be 100% focused 100% of the time or else you could get bitten in the ass. Another lesson learned right?!?! Keep rippin Tony!
Glad you walked away from that fall Tony. That helmet definitely did it's job. Just keep wearing your safety equipment and I think you'll be ok. However anytime you take a risk you could suffer the consequences that's just life and how you choose to live it. I was in a bad MC wreck in 2017 and I know how you start questioning yourself. Just dust yourself off and try and learn from what happened. Good luck and I enjoy your channel.
Recently crashed in to a rock edge on 7/10. To hear you make that sound had me pause this. Slammed my shoulder hard enough to break it. No break but still afraid to ride anything aggressive. I guess when I am ready I can watch this. Until then heal up.
First, great TN! I had to click it. Second, duuuuuuuude....I'm glad you are ok. That was a hell of a fall. You straight head torpedo'd right into that rock. Wow, so glad you are ok. I can totally understand how that can shake you up. I've had a few of those unexpected crashes. I think you are totally right about it's a case of you becoming a little complacent when riding. I know it was similar with me. I remember going through a section being kinda lazy and had my pedal down because I was sorta relaxing though a chill-ish section and next thing I knew I pedal struck a rock that I didn't even know was there and boom I was flying. Once again, glad you are ok and thanks for sharing. Great reminder to stay on point when riding.
Thanks Robert - and well said. Yeah the least I can pull from this is a reminder to always stay present and not take the trail for granted. Huge wake up call for me.
Scariest feeling ever to get the wind knocked out of you Tony. I had a similar thing happen to me at Horse Thief Bench Trail in Colorado when I went OTB. Broke a rib and a bone in my hand. Yeah your lucky those noises were primal so glad you health is good . your right just be aware of all spots on the trail. So glad you are ridding again
Hey that looked serious brochacho, so glad you are not more seriously hurt! You for sure have some of the best topics and vids. Don’t give up, don’t quit!
Thanks for sharing! I appreciate you sharing your safety thoughts and vulnerability! I’m a new rider and of course this is my biggest fear. I wear a lot of padding and safety gear where I look kind of silly to all the experienced riders out there.
Yikes and thanks for sharing. Delighted you get to tell the story and continue your adventures. Hopes to some day soon get back out on trials and join you some time.
Holy crap Tony!!! I'm so happy you're ok. Amazing how often crashes happen in that split second where we're not 100% focused. Last crash I had was on a trail I've ridden 100s of times, riding a chill day (not pushing super hard), lost the front wheel and smashed the ground head first...foam didn't visibly crack but helmet (Bell SuperDH) was dented enough for me to get a crash replacement. Take care of yourself, get better, enjoy Yosemite, and, as always, thank you for sharing your life with all of us!
Holy crap Tony, hope your back is ok! This could happen to ANYONE and none of us is immune to a crash that could either end our lives or cause serious injuries. It's scary to think about...just crazy when it happens, always seems to happen when least expected. Thanks for sharing.
Tony, sure there's a coulda/woulda/shoulda moment that might have prevented it but it was an accident and the main thing is you had a helmet that was on and properly secured. That's the main lesson I learned from watching. Glad it wasn't as bad as it looked. Rest up, heal up!

I don't really recall how it happened, but my head hit the ground so hard that I saw stars for a few minutes. After about 10 minutes I realized that I had jacked up my should (AC separation). So I did the ride of shame the rest of the way down, lucky for me, I was right by a green trail. But for the next 45 minutes or so, I sounded like a dying cow.
Tony it’s great to see your ok after that fall. Long time mtb here and have had my share of bad falls. My last acc left a gnarly 1” gash in my helmet when I clipped bottom of tree trunk at bottom of hill ride. That’s scary as hell and sobering to say the least. I got myself a road/gravel bike since and been taking it easy riding smooth trails and beach rides. Still get my exercise just not as risky. Keep up the awesome vids and Thank you for sharing and stay safe out there!
Tony, I’ve been on the fence re: a neck brace. There still seems to be varying opinions. And it may be helpful to look into and share your thoughts/insights. Take care!
Glad you walked away with minimal injuries. Looked like an unlucky crash , but LUCKY you. Needless to say, but worth saying again thanks for the good helmet.
Woah, so glad you are ok. That was hard to watch and yes I’ve experienced the crash the parts of a trails you normally go down easy. Scary. Hopefully the X-rays come back clean and you can get back out there!
I busted my ass this weekend just cruising slow on flat ground. There was a little stick about 10" long in my path. I ran over it and it rolled ( it was parallel to my line) and washed out the front tire and I did a face plant and my ribs landed on a rock. I was stunned. I had no safety gear on because it is a flat trail that runs along the creek near my house and I ride it often mostly for convenience but it's good for cardio too. I'm never riding without gear again. Part of the trail is paved and I missed the pavement by a couple of feet which probably would have broken my cheek bone. Luckily I landed in soft dirt and mulch. When my shifter mount arrives that I broke, I'll be back on that horse again and never take anything for granted again. Glad you're ok. Peace ✌️.
Scary! So glad you're doing okay. Hope the X-ray images come back negative. It can happen to anyone, even an expert rider like you. This will remind me and others to stay focused.
So glad you are OK Tony! I know it was rough, but thank you for sharing!!! Praying you are back on the bike super soon. PS - I think that helmet is worth it's weight in gold...
Nothing short of a miracle Tony! So glad you were able to walk away from that one. Rest up, heal up!
Damn !!! Props to the helmet. 🪖 glad you're ok Tony

Thank you so much for showing the downs of our sport so many UA-camrs only show the ups, big ups to you and glad your ok
I appreciate that
Stay safe out there, Ton. Let us know how those x-rays turn out. Glad you're ok.

Thankful you are okay. Thank you for sharing with us and reminding us to be aware when riding. Hope you have a speedy recovery.
Thank you!

Damn Tony that was gnarly! Glad that you're ok and hope you make a speedy recovery!
👊
Scariest feeling ever to get the wind knocked out of you Tony. I had a similar thing happen to me at Horse Thief Bench Trail in Colorado when I went OTB. Broke a rib and a bone in my hand. My son told me that the cloud of dust that came up around my body as I landed was like something you'd see in a cartoon. Thinking positive thoughts that nothing is broken. Bob T.
Thank you Bob!
Glad you’re ok man!
keep on rockin Outsider!
That was scary Tony. I'm honestly greatful that you are okay. you're a good man brother.
❤️👊
Glad you are ok, just goes to show you when you let your guard down that is when trouble strikes. Had a crash a few weeks ago at Downieville, and it is humbling. Stay safe and we look forward to seeing more new videos!

I'm so glad you're alright.
Hey that looked serious brochacho, so glad you are not more seriously hurt! You for sure have some of the best topics and vids. Don’t give up, don’t quit!
I appreciate that!
Thanks for sharing! I appreciate you sharing your safety thoughts and vulnerability! I’m a new rider and of course this is my biggest fear. I wear a lot of padding and safety gear where I look kind of silly to all the experienced riders out there.
Welcome aboard!
Anything can happen, even when going slow. Been wearing full face all the time, even at my local trails, for safety. Glad you're OK, Tony!
Thanks!
Glad that u walked away from that crash ! And also glad that u had a rad crew with u that day at least u were not alone !
👊❤️

Glad your ok. I saw the skater reflex trying to land on your feet. Cheers to the next ride Tony!
😉👊
Tony, sure there's a coulda/woulda/shoulda moment that might have prevented it but it was an accident and the main thing is you had a helmet that was on and properly secured. That's the main lesson I learned from watching. Glad it wasn't as bad as it looked. Rest up, heal up!
Thanks Ken!
Glad you're OK!!
7:46 It looks like your good, you can still do your signature move (circle hand gesture and head bow).
Haha true!
Jeeze dude. It's scary how fast this hobby can get serious quickly. Glad you are ok. I've had some wild crashes in my time too.
glad you are OK
Ouch !!!! Man glad your okay .
Glad you're OK !!! I
Glad to see you're good man.
I remember Yuka broke her neck at trail in Canada check out her channel she also had video her broken neck
Glad to see that you are good man.
Super mellow, so awkward how your head came down. Nice you are ok buddy.

Damn Tony!! Glad you’re ok. I’ve taken to wearing my LEATT neck brace more and more these days. May be something worth looking into.
I got taken out on our green trail in Crested Butte, Hotdogger, 2 months later and I’m doing easy rides
So glad you're ok Tony!!! I guess that Dainese helmet did a great job!
I think so too!
Glad you’re ok!!! Shoutout to that helmet 🤯🤯🤯
Good to see you made it out ok!
Yeah thanks!
Cheers!
Glad your doing better!
Thank you!
WOW, glad you are ok. Crazy how a freak accident like this can occur. If that rock was any closer this would be a totally different video.
Glad you're okay. Awkward falls are the worst.
Woah, so glad you are ok. That was hard to watch and yes I’ve experienced the crash the parts of a trails you normally go down easy. Scary. Hopefully the X-rays come back clean and you can get back out there!
Dude this has got to be the scariest crash video I’ve seen. Glad you’re good.
😉👊
Peace ✌️.
Thanks for sharing and glad you’re ok!
Scary! So glad you're doing okay. Hope the X-ray images come back negative. It can happen to anyone, even an expert rider like you. This will remind me and others to stay focused.
👊
Could happen to anyone, glad you're okay!
Gnarly fall kid! Glad you're ok. And that's the reason I always wore a Moto helmet when I was racing DH.
I got lucky kid! Yhhhheah KID!
So glad you are OK Tony! I know it was rough, but thank you for sharing!!! Praying you are back on the bike super soon. PS - I think that helmet is worth it's weight in gold...
Thanks so much
