It's a very interesting concept to see Negan faced with the son of the man he murdered. What makes it the biggest dilemma is if Negan is really sorry for what he did. I think that Negan is not happy about having made Hershel fatherless but I don't believe that he regrets killing Glenn and Abraham after the massacre at the satellite outpost.

Negan as the leader of the saviors was a facade he was a depressed man using a bat to give the strength to keep up the act that he is a bad man but underneath the mask was conflict and sadness his true self...this became worse when he found the saviors BC he needed to become even worse when he took over to maintain leadership. When Rick attacked the outposts Negan was under pressure the saviors were pissed and wanted revenge so Negan had to brutally kill 1 or 2 people to satisfy the saviors he did fake laughs and made it so brutal to break the group so he wouldn't have to do it again. Glenn wasn't planned Daryl punched him and Negan had to back up his claim that he doesnt let shit fly.

Negan is what happens when a good man becomes a bad man to deal with a new world BC he stumbled into a group that needed to controlled by a bad man...the governor did the same thing his benevolent ways at the start got penny killed then he became the governor BC he needed to be a bad man to get the resources necessary to cure his daughter.
