Thanks for the video, I'm from Cuenca but I live in Germany. I missed my city so much and yes, most of the parts you showed are not very touristic, but it's part of the daily life of Cuencanos, and you gave me the chance, for a brief moment, to remember what my life used to be. Thanks again, and keep up with your good work :)
Cuenca looks great. The only thing detering me from choosing to spend a couple of months there are those grey skies and cool temperatures. It looks like September weather in the UK year round. Seems like an ideal place for those who don't like the heat.
@@ba8898 I hate the heat and one reason Im going. I also not a fan of gloomy cold temperature experienced that in Seattle for 6 years. Been told nowhere as bad as Pacific North West weather and the sun comes out frequently. Will soon find out going in 20 days!
Hey Man, thanks so much for making this vid. My wife and I are eventually moving to Cuenca. We're taking an exploratory trip sometime next year. I really appreciate seeing all the information about things in Cuenca that aren't all the same stuff about the historical districts and food that everyone makes. This was more down to earth, living there type info. It is greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!
@@russuhl3277 hey Russ, my pleasure. I bet you are excited to be moving there. It's one of the best cities in Ecuador in my opinion. Apparently there is an area called gringolandia in cuenca where all the expats live, cuenca it's popular with Americans. Sunrise cafe is where you will find alot of them, great place.
We’ve lived in Cuenca for 10 years now. Yours is the FIRST UA-cam video that got everything right - prices, locations, procedures for the Tranvia, etc. Good job!
I've lived here in Cuenca for 3years now, love it. By the way rain here is not evil mate. We need it to fill the rivers back up and end the power outs. good video keep em coming
That was really well done, thank you! I was there in January and it was sunny the entire week. I got the Tranvia pass at the airport and it was a little complicated and bureaucratic but in a funny way. They require your passport. And I walked around Gringolandia and was told it's not so much the amount of gringos that live there as the style of buildings, modern high rises. But some are tastefully done. I've subscribed and will be looking forward to more videos
AHH that's Great! Strange that they require a passport to use the Tranvia. Also thanks for clearing up the Gringolandia subject, it actually made me laugh as I totally thought it was because so many gringos lived there. Thanks for the sub, I'm back in the UK now but will be back in Ecuador in the future for more videos. But for now I will make some in UK and anywhere else I travel. Take care
Take a walk along the beautiful Yanuncay river. It's at the end of Solano. Tres puentes crosses it. Walking E you'll come to the lovely Botanical jardin. Or go N and you'll enjoy several miles of river trail.
Awesome video. Flying in to Cuenca for first time for exploratory trip in three weeks and staying in Centro. Looks easy to take the train in from airport, how often they run, I come in at like 7 am.
@@AronXplores awesome! Gonna test it once get there as always up to skipping a taxi. Thanks for the tip had no idea that was an option. Keep up the good work with your videos.
@@GenXerInMexico no worries at all, if you follow me on tiktok I go into a bit more detail on the tram and show where to get the contactless travel card
Tranvía runs every 10 to 15 minutes during business hours, 15 to 30 minutes on Sundays, if you get a card at the bus station it cost 30 cent each trip one way, without a card it is $1 each trip one way, starts at 4:15am and stops at 10pm, after living here for 2 years the last place I would ever go is the centro, it's a tourist trap so it's where all the homeless and thieves gather to annoy me 3 times every block, stay away from airports, bus stations, trains, and downtown in the large cities to avoid trouble.
I can't type it here in full but it's a website called BOOKING after staying a couple of nights you can make arrangements with the hotel and cut out the middle man
Ah man, you took the transvia all the way out to the airport and didn't visit the cemetery? And if you haven't been to a Spanish cemetery on Mother's Day you should put it on your bucket list P.S. That was a fun ending.

What I'm interested in because I'm going for 2 months in 2025 where the locals live. If I wanted to live in a modern part of the city I would stay home. I want to see the traditional neighborhoods
If you want to see where the locals live you will need to go to the modern part. Ofcourse there are some locals living in the old town but alot of them rent out their houses as air BnB/ hotels
