- Are you tired of the bull tipping over your mineral feeder? Tired of wasting mineral and buying a new feeder every year or two? Watch this video to find out how you can make an almost indestructible, bull proof mineral feeder for under $10!
It’s always nice to see things repurposed. Another great video Carl.
Thanks!!
I don’t have a farm or a need for a mineral feeder for my bull but I do love practical ideas and ingenuity in action. Well done and thank you.
Thanks for following along!
Fabulous job, thank you! I was just about to drop a couple hundred bucks on one!
You’ll love this!
I talked with my friend and he explained to me what he and a farmer in Athens WI did in 3 years to reduce his compaction issues. You guys are doing a great job explaining how things work and why you do it.
Thanks Darrel!
Farmer brilliance is awesome! Nice job Carl.
Thanks Greg!
We use a smaller but similar design but fixed to a decent wooden fence post without the truck tyre for sheep (using a 25litre barrel) - works well.
Good idea!
Great video dude! Building 3 of these as soon as I get home
Nice clean shop. Thanks for the project tip.
Thanks 👍👍
I like that! Genius. I think I'm gonna build one. Thanks for sharing man!
Give it a try!
Great idea Karl!!
I can’t take credit for this. A neighbor of mine did the same thing. I attached mine a bit differently but the concept has been used a lot before
Wonderful - thanks!
Wow, taking the channel to a how-to channel. This is the kind of thing I would do too but but we do not have cattle in the suburbs. Good thought on the water in the tire. How about in the barrel? Does it need a rain shield or holes? What kind of minerals are in the ration?
What I’m going to do is face the opening to the east since most of our storms blow in from the northwest or southwest. That should protect it most of the time. It will occasionally get some water in it but it’s better than a flimsy feeder that’s always tipped over. We use Kent 356 Framework mineral. You should be able to find the analysis online. It has a lot of stuff in it!
Great job. Now let's see what the bull does to it
Haha that will have to wait til breeding season!
Good job
Thank you sir
I enjoyed that I will have to try that
Give it a go! Use 5 inch bolts though 👍
I'm sure you thought about cutting a large U and then heating the upper edge of the U and bending it up to help protect the minerals a little. Great video!
I contemplated different ways to do that. But the curvature of the barrel makes it hard.
Nothing wrong with using what u already have to make something u need...I do the same thing lol great video 👍
In this case I think it’s better than most manufactured feeders 👍
Could you use regular bolts and use impact to tighten the bolts?
Definitely could!
You should start another channel dedicated to making things like this.
I’d have to make a pretty good list of projects 😂
Is the tire 24.5” inside diameter?
Yes
Good job better than throwing stuff like that in the landfill
That’s what I thought!
Could you attach flaps on the barrel so the rain can't get in quite as much. The cow/bull pushes them aside and then they will fall back when she/he is done.
I wanted to do that but the curve of the barrel complicates it a bit. Also worried that if the bottoms of the flaps get pushed inside they would cause more rain water to run down the flaps into the barrel.
👍👍
Hey can you make a brother in-law proof shovel?
🤣
Voice overs are better
Definitely easier to understand
👍👍
