What do you like about it other than maybe nostalgia? I'm a huge fan of motion controls, but even then I hate 8, and not just for its Motion controls which are pretty bad but everything else about it too. (except the board where you invest coins into hotels to gain more stars if you have the most coins in it, that one is fun from what I remember)
@@GBDupree I've never once had an issue with the motion controls in MP8 and watching how TRG struggles with it is both surprising and hilarious to me. The only places I would say it's questionable are Scooter Pursuit and Breakneck Building, and neither one of them felt bad. The minigames all felt fantastic, though the challenge games left a bit to be desired. The boards were super fun, even in Solo mode, though I can admit the Goomba's Booty Boardwalk and Koopa's Tycoon Town felt remarkably similar to Pagoda Peak and Windmillville respectively. That's not really a bad thing though, since they are both fun to play. (Though my personal favorite is either Shyguy's Perplex Express or King Boo's Haunted Hideaway.) The extra minigames were great, especially Moped Mayhem and Puzzle Pillars. The Minigame Tent extra modes were nice, though I never found myself playing them too much, since I had no friends and my siblings hated playing Mario Party with me since I was significantly better than them. A fair critique that I didn't remember until this LP is the lack of standard controls during normal gameplay. Maybe it's because Mario Party 8 was my first Wii game, so I just loved using motion controls and never tried using standard controls, but either way, that was a dumb decision and I can admit defeat on that one. But to say the entire game is bad seems like a ridiculous statement to me.

When I first got this game it was a damaged disc or something and certain minigames crashed Mario party and I had to off and on the console. One game messed up the wii so hard literally the only thing I could do was unplug the console because even teh power button did not work! Flip the Chimp all but bricked my wii
Just as bad is the Soda can shaking game. Because it has a limit to how high the soda can get, It is purely determined by which character you play as, so Waluigi is unbeatable because he is taller and holds the can up higher.

I'm so glad you have brought Mario Party 8 to the channel. It's my favourite game in the series. I am actually really into the motion control minigames, and the boards are all unique and exciting.
Man, good times with this game back then. 8 alongside 7 is my favorite Party in the series. Also, the widescreen thing was never a problem to me. Besides, this game looks beautiful (at least to me).

@@EMAngel2718 I can vouch for this, playing the single-player was kinda fun but also I can see why people hate it. Bowser's Warped Orbit took me about six tries due to bad luck, so I understand why a lot of people may have had a bad time with it.

I actually really liked this one. I'm also a bit biased tho, because I ADORED being able to play as Blooper. The vampire candied Blooper has the best Cthulhu vibe.

Mario Party 8 is when the franchise had a dip in quality. Mario Party 9 and 10...OH GOD. The less said about them the better. I can't wait to see how much torture they can endure through those games.
Wow mario party 8 is one of my favorites. It definitely has its downits downsides. But for example that rule page makes sense as you play more when you already know how to play all you need to know is who is who.
This was my entry point into the Mario Party series and is still my favourite to this day but knowing that it's going to get ragged on by my three favourite youtubers kinda hurts a little bit, especially by Chugga
for years this was the only mario party game i played as well AND the only map i played on it (only played once with a friend and this was the map) but ive since downloaded 1-3 on an emulator and i can play the old ones :)
I’ve been wait sooo long for this one, Mario Party 8 is by far the Mario Party 8 that I’ve played the most and I have such fond memories of competing with friends in this game that I’m super excited to see TRG play through it.
Today has been a great day, first i watched my University basketball team win a game, then came home and watched this and had a joyous time, especially with Emile getting two stars and dogging Mario Party 8, then I watched the video on chuggas channel, today has been fantastic!!!
I just played this game last week with my friends at school, and we had a blast playing it. Although I only one board which was this one, but hey at least I had fun (except for the Shy Guy's train board I got screwed over so much). Kinda breaks my heart that you guys don't like it that much. This is the first Wii game that I ever played, and the first Mario game I ever owned. It holds so much nostalgia for me, because I played this game with my little sister a lot when I was young. Last week was the first time I played this game with friends, I wish I can tell my younger self that I'll find friends that play this game with me.

Huzzah!!! The MP Agame home to my favorite board of my childhood! One day TRG shall be developing hotels, only this time it isn't Fortune Street! I know everyone has valid gries about this game but I truly loved it for all the new and unique minigames coming off of so many games where the same 7-10 reoeat constantly.

@Slobertooth, it seems like as recently as Mario Party 7, people were saying how horrible Jon was as a person and how Emile has never done anything on the channel to warrant people criticizing him. Granted, Emile was far less cocky and condescending there than in previous entries so that might explain the warmer reception then. I gotta cede the point, though. Not a lot of people were pleased with Emile during Star Fox. I didn't read the comments on Alfegard, so I cant say there. On sites like reddit and /vr/, Emile is more chastised in general, but those are very different communities in general than these comment sections. As a final note, I,hope I,don't come across as petty or rude in either of the comments I've posted in this thread, it's not my intention to single anyone out or to suggest that their opinions are invalid. I have a lot of respect for all members of TRG and don't wish for any of them (nor their fans) to feel unappreciated or unwelcome.
Mario party 4 was my favorite by the way due to the really fun alternate board rules. I liked the minigames in 8 due to it feeling different for once after 7 games of near identical games and gameplay. Adding motion controls brought it back to feeling good playing the games
YES! I’ve been waiting for this for years! This was my first Mario Party and while I can agree that it is not as good some other games in the series, I still hold it has my favourite. It’s also the only Mario party I can confidently say that I’m REALLY good at playing, especially the mini games. I practiced every single one for hours when I was like 9 or 10. I remember watching them play the first Mario party and then seeing that they were slowly playing through the other games in the series my first thought was “Huh, I wonder when they’re going to get to 8?” followed by “I’d better subscribe so that way I know when that happens, can’t wait to hear what they think of it.” It’s hard to believe that was around 7 YEARS AGO! Side note: I know it has been longer than 7 years since they uploaded the play through of the first Mario party, but I was late to watching it because I only started watching when they were playing something else a bit later on (can’t quite remember right now but if I do I’ll put it in here lol). Edit: Did some digging and I’m pretty sure they were doing their Return To Dreamland playthrough at the time. It depends on which part of the year I was watching, if not RTD it would be Mario party 2 which would actually be very fitting lmao

I'm so glad you have brought Mario Party 8 to the channel. It's my favourite game in the series. I am actually really into the motion control minigames, and the boards are all unique and exciting.

Man, good times with this game back then. 8 alongside 7 is my favorite Party in the series. Also, the widescreen thing was never a problem to me. Besides, this game looks beautiful (at least to me).

@@EMAngel2718 I can vouch for this, playing the single-player was kinda fun but also I can see why people hate it. Bowser's Warped Orbit took me about six tries due to bad luck, so I understand why a lot of people may have had a bad time with it.

Glad you guys are playing this game! I know it's not the greatest to a lot of people, but it was my first Mario Party game, and I've had tons of fun playing it with friends in the past! Hopefully the flaws fade away as you continue playing and it's fun for you guys too!

Mario Party 8 is when the franchise had a dip in quality. Mario Party 9 and 10...OH GOD. The less said about them the better. I can't wait to see how much torture they can endure through those games.
Wow mario party 8 is one of my favorites. It definitely has its downits downsides. But for example that rule page makes sense as you play more when you already know how to play all you need to know is who is who.
This was my entry point into the Mario Party series and is still my favourite to this day but knowing that it's going to get ragged on by my three favourite youtubers kinda hurts a little bit, especially by Chugga

I’ve been wait sooo long for this one, Mario Party 8 is by far the Mario Party 8 that I’ve played the most and I have such fond memories of competing with friends in this game that I’m super excited to see TRG play through it.
Today has been a great day, first i watched my University basketball team win a game, then came home and watched this and had a joyous time, especially with Emile getting two stars and dogging Mario Party 8, then I watched the video on chuggas channel, today has been fantastic!!!

I just played this game last week with my friends at school, and we had a blast playing it. Although I only one board which was this one, but hey at least I had fun (except for the Shy Guy's train board I got screwed over so much). Kinda breaks my heart that you guys don't like it that much. This is the first Wii game that I ever played, and the first Mario game I ever owned. It holds so much nostalgia for me, because I played this game with my little sister a lot when I was young. Last week was the first time I played this game with friends, I wish I can tell my younger self that I'll find friends that play this game with me.

@@noircore Naw, I'm just poking fun at the fact that Emile has been doing pretty bad in Mario party as of late (tho he's off to a good start on this episode). And what did Jon say about Emile getting burnt out? This is news to me.
@Slobertooth, it seems like as recently as Mario Party 7, people were saying how horrible Jon was as a person and how Emile has never done anything on the channel to warrant people criticizing him. Granted, Emile was far less cocky and condescending there than in previous entries so that might explain the warmer reception then.
I gotta cede the point, though. Not a lot of people were pleased with Emile during Star Fox. I didn't read the comments on Alfegard, so I cant say there. On sites like reddit and /vr/, Emile is more chastised in general, but those are very different communities in general than these comment sections.
As a final note, I,hope I,don't come across as petty or rude in either of the comments I've posted in this thread, it's not my intention to single anyone out or to suggest that their opinions are invalid. I have a lot of respect for all members of TRG and don't wish for any of them (nor their fans) to feel unappreciated or unwelcome.
Mario party 4 was my favorite by the way due to the really fun alternate board rules. I liked the minigames in 8 due to it feeling different for once after 7 games of near identical games and gameplay. Adding motion controls brought it back to feeling good playing the games
YES! I’ve been waiting for this for years! This was my first Mario Party and while I can agree that it is not as good some other games in the series, I still hold it has my favourite. It’s also the only Mario party I can confidently say that I’m REALLY good at playing, especially the mini games. I practiced every single one for hours when I was like 9 or 10.
I remember watching them play the first Mario party and then seeing that they were slowly playing through the other games in the series my first thought was “Huh, I wonder when they’re going to get to 8?” followed by “I’d better subscribe so that way I know when that happens, can’t wait to hear what they think of it.” It’s hard to believe that was around 7 YEARS AGO!
Side note: I know it has been longer than 7 years since they uploaded the play through of the first Mario party, but I was late to watching it because I only started watching when they were playing something else a bit later on (can’t quite remember right now but if I do I’ll put it in here lol).
Edit: Did some digging and I’m pretty sure they were doing their Return To Dreamland playthrough at the time. It depends on which part of the year I was watching, if not RTD it would be Mario party 2 which would actually be very fitting lmao
