That is a solid perspective for streaming players.
I love the simplicity of my Roku.
Apple TV+ 4K is my choice. Being able to "match frame rate" and other video controls to sync it with your system definitely sets it apart...It doesn't matter if it's the only Apple device you own, it offers no commercials on the home page, and it syncs what you watch on other streaming services. That makes it a one stop to make a choice of what you want to watch, and once selected it takes you to that choice.
Have used roku since 2018,easy to use, love it.
Thank you Cord Cutters News. :)
Roku is the only one not trying to lock you into their ecosystem as they don't really have one. They all track, even Roku but I believe they are less egregious with it from my experience.
That's true
Hey Luke, in response to your answer to the different platforms, I would add that it's good to have a multi device setup so if one platform has issues, you have other options to go to until it's resolved. It can be a pain having to switch between multiple devices at times, but it's better than only investing in one platform and then having nothing to use, when that platform has issues.
Roku comes with a sound bar now. Bought one. And yes it's good. And on sale on Amazon
My preference is apple TV mainly because of the lack of ads.
But if you have DNS (internet name to actual internet address) lookup filtering on your home LAN (for example, I use "pi-hole" to do this at my house) the vast majority of ads are eaten by your DNS filtering anyway. Given the number of ads my ROKU TV used to spit out (vs the number is now spits out) I'm really glad I use "pi-hole" on my network.
I've used fire tv, and roku. Of the two I prefer roku. I find fire tv to be a bit buggy, and slow.
A question for Luke. With cord cutting increasing and more people are starting to use an OTA antenna to watch TV, do you think that more OTA TV towers will start to be built so that it will be easier for people to get OTA TV stations?
I'm wondering what you think of Apollo Group TV.
I find Roku is best, because it is easy to use!
Roku fits my situation best
My Hisense 65U8G is an Android, (basically Google). I love it!
I don't like Android TV at one point I did I had Nvidia shield then they added all the ads and I moved away from them. Would not buy a TV with Android or fire OS. Couldn't give it to me. But I guess we're all different.
@@davidframe1613I just bought a 65U8K. I focused on picture quality not platform.
Question for Luke. Since we have kids at home that don't have cell phones, we still keep a home phone. What is the best VOIP phone service to use? Cost and quality wise
Thanks for your advice and hard work researching and producing this valuable content...to find more valuable content...for free!
YOU ARE 100% RIGHT. DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS!
I would love a new apple tv but yea roku is good too
I have both Roku and Apple TV boxes. I use them for different things. For just watching tv I use Roku. For streaming from my Mac I use the Apple box.
I use to be all in on Vizeo tvs but bought a 40 in for the bedroom,it's wifi reception is terrible glad for my Roku and Fire stick
Does youtube tv freeze up lately on apple tv? Having freeze ups when fast fowarding on youtube tv dvr n roku? On ethernet connection with good internet
I recently switched from RoKu on 2 of my 5 TV's to the integrated apps built in to those TVs, for 2 reasons both Samsung and LG have their own free streaming channels and on my Samsung TV they finally added Philo. Still waiting on LG to ad Philo to their app library, really strange they have not added it yet. One of the reasons I switched to the internal TV apps is that my Roku started to act up, I did not want to buy a new one. I moved to Roku to standardize and to make it simple for my wife and probably will return to all Roku's. I have even take the time to line up the apps in the same order on each Roku. It would be nice if Roku would allow you to line up the icons on all your devices through your Roku account.
Android even has a streaming player. It's the Android 10.0 tv box. Looks good🎉
Hard to decide what streaming
box is the best so I use them all
Have hooked to my fire tv is
Roku ultra
Onn pro streaming box
Apple TV 4 K
Question for Luke. Is their any info on UA-cam TV getting anymore channels like Reelz?
Nothing new.
I switched from AppleTV to Google TV after I bought my Sony Bravia Google TV. Picture and audio quality is equal to Apple TV, and with some apps it’s actually better (especially UA-camTV & UA-cam). Also, if you’re a heavy UA-camTV and UA-cam user and you watch a lot of live TV then Google TV on the Sony is excellent.
The two I use is Google TV(chrome cast) and a Roku. I like them both. Use them for different things.
Luke, I totally agree with your answer. Personally, ROKU at home, Chromecast and Amazon Fire on the road. Then professionally Apple TV devices. There is room for all devices, it just depends on the location and the investment people are willing to make.
It’s a shame what has happened to Amazon Prime, guess I will keep it for the free shipping.terrible what streaming is coming too!
Your right about streaming players it depends. I use the Fire TV and love it. A friend uses Google TV and loves it.
Anybody have a better idea I can afford,just sling blue is not that great,no cbs,or espn.think I am stuck,unless I pay more,am a senior can’t afford more.
I love Apple TV 4K. J have 3 in my house. Just wish the remote was better.
I agree with you about the best streaming box. I am heavy into Apple, so Apple TV is my choice.
Love Roku: cheap, easy. Love Appletv more with Fubo and multicast only available with Appletv. Love both those devices. Fubo has been awesome since Comcast overthought the Bally’s situation and forced their customers to find a streaming company.
Roku is easy to use and UA-camTV has the best/most content esp for sports. The costs are about where cable was, so it's self defeating unless they get a handle on $$ for streaming apps.
Hey Luke I have the original Roku device the one you plug in how can I use an antenna for a regular Roku device for my TV I'm just trying to save some money because I am on a fixed income
I own all of these streaming players and basically it comes down to two things, are you in the Apple ecosystem or not and what your budget is. Regardless of your budget the Apple TV is the best streaming player & it's not even really close. If you already own an iPhone, Mac, iPad or all three then getting an Apple TV only makes more sense because everything is intergraded extremely well. However even if you don't own any of those the Apple TV because of it's processors is just more responsive and even if you get the smaller storage one you will never run out of room.
However if budget is a concern and you aren't an Apple fan Roku absolutely destroys both Google and Amazon. Their $60 stick is almost as fast as Apple TV and I have had no storage problems at all. My only real drawback for Roku is some of their in app UI isn't as good as with the in app UI on Apple TV.
Amazon and Google however have a serious issue with both speed and storage. First the speed, both are just painfully slow and Google TV is so bad I've just stopped using it all together because there are times you can get to the count of 3 between inputting on the remote and when the cursor actually moves. The load times can take even longer up to 10 seconds or more. Fire TV isn't as bad but it's still not good as far as response time. Then there's storage. I don't even have a ton of apps that are downloaded yet with Google TV barely half the amount of apps will fit that I have on all my other devices and you can forget doing updates on individual apps on Google TV because you get a message saying you don't have enough storage. When I needed a new TV I even tried buying one with Google TV built in because it had 16g of storage instead of the 8 on the stick but the exact same problems are found there also. It's too bad because out of all of the streaming players Google and Amazon have the best UIs, remotes and integration with your other smart devices.
I like Roku because I like the new cooking episodes as they arrive from Emeril Lagasse.
I've tried them all but like Roku
I have both Apple TV 4K and Roku. We use both but I prefer Apple’s interface.
Roku is better and here's why you don't have to pay for any contact on the Roku device unless you want to pay for peacock Paramount or any other sports station as well will cook can save your money better than Apple TV Apple TV cost more and you are not giving me that much stuff on Apple TV and most people who are on a fixed income cannot support Apple TV or can't buy any Apple devices to get Apple TV
thank you for mr rogers on pluto tv.
All it’s for is advertising to get you to pay for paramount!this is all getting really old!
Roku is what I started with years ago and still seems the most generic ... so I'll stick with it, in spite of the growing number of adds everywhere.
Spectrum and Comcast are doomed if they do not change their ways. The only way they are staying a float is by "massaging" customers into the cell phone service and locks customers out of competitor pricing. Spectrum tried that BS with me when I dropped them last year and everyone I talk to that has Spectrum says that is their primary target audience it seems like.
Apple never and Google same. Roku for streaming.
When you say Roku is popular because it is so simple to use, isn't the Apple TV even more simple since its home screen has no ads?
QUESTION FOR LUKE-you always survey your readers about what streaming device we like best. Well, how about you? Which device do you like better? I know you always say you have all of them but which do you LIKE better? And why?
Peacock offered a one-year deal 19 dollars can't seem to hook up with that anyone else having the same problem
Gauchos!!!
Hello from 805
Personally, whenever you are able to customize your own experience, I would pick that. For example. I have a projector with Google TV, and also I have given away some Google Chromecast with Google TV. Guess what, they love it just because I can customize download apps where they can watch free Television with lots of channels, also watch a great amount of free movies without having to pay subscriptions of any kind. If you are curious and like tech, you should choose Google TV and explore how much you can do with it.
Roku devices have 1 to 2 second blackout periods frequently. It's annoying. Pay services like Max, Netflix, Peacock, etc all go black screen while being played. Roku has done nothing to update their devices to stop this from happening. I've tried every "fix" offered by others (not by Roku, they just ignore it), but they don't work. I've put those services on Android devices and the "black outs" go away. Roku is to streaming like an old Atari unit is to gaming. Roku needs to enter the 21st century.
Roku: best all around. With several models and prices. Easiest to learn and prob most accessible since it’s been the most popular amongst cord cutters.
Apple TV: sharpest.
I own all of these and Roku is only the best all around if you are only considering price. For what the Roku cost you get a great streaming player which is why it's the most popular. However Apple TV is the best & it's not even close especially if you are already in the Apple ecosystem. Where Roku falls behind apple regardless of ecosystem is its versatility, speed and in app UI. I like the Roku and usually recommend it to people over any other device because of its cost and it's 10x better than Google TV and Fire TV but the cost difference between Roku and Apple is just too much even though Apple's device is much better.
@@RWRogers - I love the simplicity and convenience of Roku. What I don’t like is the slow operating speed and the added bloatware.
I've sworn by Roku since 2016, but I bought a Hisense 65U8K last week. So, I am a Google TV person for now.
if you have a smart tv you don't need a seperate device at all...what's the point ? XChoosing the streaming channel is a lot more important and they all stream to smart tv's.
UA-cam TV is the best
1. Apple TV
2. Google TV/Android TV
3. Fire TV
4. Any Smart TV not including Fire TV, Google TV or Roku
5. Xumo TV
Dead Last. Roku
if u Google & YTTV user like me for a decade now , Chromecast TV device or Chromecast TVS is f*n BEST out there ...Great feathers & Interface & also works GREAT with my YT Premium 2 & with each other all combined in one ..since i bought Chromecast TV device back in thire released 4-5 years ago, tossed all my Rokus in Garbage on all my TVS , APPLE TV device is freaking rip of like usual like rest of the APPLE stuffs is, noo way👎
I have pruchased AppleTV, for a number of reasons. Easy Interface, part of my Apple Ecosystem, us the minipods as a stereo soundbar and Facetime, screen sharing, etc. I have had Roku, it the one i had, latest and greatest at the time, was slow. It seemed like it had to spool up some of the videos, or buffering the video. My FireTV, my biggest complaint was the FireStick controlled what was appearing on the screem, i was dynamic according to what Amazon wanted. My Fire sticks die after aboutb a year, The AppleTV is expensive, but feeling I am getting more for the cost. And my AppleTVs have been around for years.
Apple TV. Clean interface not cluttered with ads, "suggestions" (hear that Roku) or rows and rows of anything and everything available and better hardware.
Apple TV has the best UI and no ads on the home screen.
Question for Luke. Will the new FloCollege be part of the current FloSports package or separate?
I remember the Commodore 64 I believe
Since streaming players for the most part are inexpensive, I use Fire TV, Google, & Roku. Not into Apple. But there are good things with all.
ruku is easier to read than firestick.
Roku Streambar SE | 2-in-1 TV Soundbar with Built-in 4K/HD/HDR
I agree, Walmart is not in a good position to operate a film studio and would not want the hassle. Hollywood accounting is worse than Washingtonian accounting in many ways, which is most probably why Trump’s treasury secretary was a Hollywood producer/bank president. Walmart could do it and make it work, but that is not in its wheelhouse.
AppleTV
I am a big fan of apple but again Apple TV. I don’t really know for sure but I think I am but I tried it and it wants you to sign any user name and password.
Can stand Apple TVs remote (any of them and including the new one). Having a tracking surface area is lame. GTVWCC remote is too small. Rokus is perfect. Apple TV interface is best. Then Ruku… then dead last and the worst is goggles interface.
I'm an Amazon and Google guy myself. Also, I played SNES and Sega...my parents were generous
I would take Roku over fire stick and Android TV just because of all the ads and hard to use. I prefer been in control of the box. Never had a Apple TV but if they don't have ads that's definitely a plus but do they have all the apps which I hear apple is always limited if you don't have all the competitors of UA-cam in your app store then you probably are not going to be chosen by most people.
I’ve used every streaming device. Apple TV has the best picture, runs the smoothest, and has the best interface. The worst in my opinion is the Nvidia streamer. Horrible experience. The second best is the top of the line Roku.
When i had comcast way back but could never get the cellular phone. The account was in my dads name but when he was able he filled out all their paper work to give me control over the account. That worked on everything but the phone. I could either cancel the service and restart it in my name or he have to come up to their phone center and in person give the ok for the phone. He was not able to do that. Funny that i could cancel the service, change it but not get a phone.
🤔 I like Google TV better because i can sideload 3rd party application... 📺 Amazon soon will not support sideloading
I don't care about how well it interfaces with my phone. I care how much buffering there is and how well it works after a year of use. I'm thinking about going to Apple TV but it's pricey, anyone out there using it for a while? I'm not going back to Google TV or Roku based on poor performance after a year (or less for Google).
Apple TV is the best hands down
Roku for me by far
When is Philo doing the free steaming service
It's live now.
@CordCuttersNews I tried too go too the free streaming service I couldn't find it
Question for Luke: who’s the next dance partner for Paramount?
Likely no one I bet the Redstone family will sell their holding company.
I have Google,Roku, and 2 fire TVs. 4 me fire is the best.
I have a android phone and have a Apple TV
fire tv because you can sideload apps roku and apple are useless this way. google is cheaper version.
Walmart and Vizio deserve each other. 😝
Everyone still argues over consoles PlayStation 5, Xbox or Nintendo and let's not forget PC Master race yes that's what they call themselves. 🤣😂🤣 And now steam deck just got added a few years back.
What was the point of your video?
Another thing we need to talk about soon we will need about 4 services to watch nfl football.it’s coming!it might be already here.
Apple TV is better
Not really.
Just because no ads is enough for me,prime has be ruined.
Apple TV actually has no ads? No Force suggestions nothing right??
Remote is hard to use
Agreed
Roku can be like my ex-wife
FloSports is very expensive and has very limited content. I can't get any European races like the recent Giro d'Italia and many others, unless I live in Canada. Not to mention that video and commentary quality are sub-par.
I wouldn’t say we used to have a super attendant that’s what we used to have but we don’t have super attendant anymore. We use the own Sega that was the game that I used to play. How can you get on a smart TV with a gaming service for free that’s a question for you
You must be able to record shows---wake up. Dish and Direct allow this.
It must just be me ,But I have lost interest in any woke B.S. Sports🤷♂️
this vid was a waste of time!!!
APPLE TV is totally 1,000% Non user freindly.. How else can I say it the REMOTE S U C K S
You can add any remote you want and turn off touch in the settings. I disagree.
5 years & I tried them all plus xfinity streaming box. As a developer I used to like Fire TV but now it is DEAD to me. I rather use Chinese knockoffs. Apple TV, however, shocked me when it comes to enhancing TV picture quality way better that all the others combined 🤷♀️ Still, Apple TV is not for developers 🤏
