I'm Swedish and I understand about 95% of what he says, but I have to focus real hard. Though it would be easier for someone from the south of Sweden to understand Danish, since they come into contact with Danes much more than I do (me being a resident of Wermelandia, near the Norwegian border).

ua-cam.com/video/Q8hrxJL6Ut4/v-deo.html I've watched this video of MIckey Dee(Motorhead) speaking Swedish and I didn't think these languages are similar, at least for me(who can not understand either) it sounds different. I do speak Portuguese fluently and can understand 80% of what Spanish speaking people say, also can comprehend like 30% of Italian and maybe 10% of French, because these are Romanic languages all it came straight from Latin. ua-cam.com/video/Q8hrxJL6Ut4/v-deo.html

@@raymccormick5659 Swedish, Danish and Norwegian (all Germanic languages, along with English, German, Dutch, Icelandic, Frisian and Faroese) are mutually intelligible, written Norwegian (though Norwegian has two written standards) is more or less the same as Danish. The big difference is that spoken Danish has distantanced itself A LOT phonetically from written Danish, that's why Swedes and Norwegian sometimes have a hard time understanding spoken Danish. Swedes and Norwegians say that Danes speak with a potato in their throat.
From what I've been told, Spanish and Portuguese are more far apart intelligibility, than Danish and Swedish. Though Galician seems to be sort of a bridge between the two.
