  • The devilbiss DV5 cpap machine has the exact same PE-PUR foam as that found in the Philips Recalled Devices. The machine is full of it and it sits directly over the blower. There is so much evidence that this foam is breaking down exactly like the Philips Respironics foam however the FDA and other agencies responsible for public health safety remain SILENT!

I got mine in late 2020 and stopped using it as soon as they announced they were no longer making cpaps. Thanks to your videos about the Philips cpaps around that time I saw the foam in the devilbis and figured it'd degrade the same. You're doing good work brother.

I'm glad you mentioned what is in the Resmed machine... silicone, I think you said. Prior to that, I wanted you to show the interior of the Resmed to aleviate some anxiety over their machines. I'm also glad you showed how to remove the foam. Thanks for looking out for this community.

I used to have that machine and used it for a number of years. I stopped using it because I knocked the unit off my nightstand with the humidifier attached. It shorted out the PC board so I never got it fixed, of course what did I replace it with? Phillips Dream Station. How Ironic!!

What about the Luna G3? If it has the same foam would you show us how to take it out? Thank you.

Should a person take the foam out of all brand of machines?

nah i don't think so. No.1 it's a challenge to remove it for most devices and No.2. It's only really the PE-PUR foam that's the problem (currently!)

I had a resmed s8 for years. Didn't know it should be replaced. I awoke with black junk in the water tank and then it stopped working. I now have a new Resmed 11. How often do you suggest we change machines? I'm clueless.

Those machines are in the TGA list of machines that contain pe-pur foam. However, it says "Sponsor has provided additional data to support the long term safety. Submission is under review."
Any guess how long it's going to be under review? LOL

They know full well it's breaking down in the exact same was as the Philips PE-PUR foam yet they are to lazy to do anything about it. They simply can not be F*cked and that's the truth of the matter.

That looks way way worse than any of the Philips gunk you've showed in the past when you pulled their machines apart...Geeezzzuuusss

Have had mine since 2011. It has travelled all over the world with me. I removed the foam in it, late 2023. Barely any foam migration, but maybe i just got lucky. Its just a backup machine nowadays.
It needs an inline tube muffler in order to not be annoying with the foam removed IME.
Still a very solid machine by anyone's measure.

it just depends on the heat and humidity mate, if you're living in a hot and humid climate then the foam will die in the ass

Given the nature of chemical breakdown, the release of chemical molecules used in manufacturing is "invisible ". Physical disintegration (black specks) indicates nearing completion of off-gassing invisible plastic conditioners that helped protect the plastic from breakdown.

@@youni43 you consume about a ping pong ball's worth of plastic per year.
Just add it to the list of stuff we are consuming 😄

This is crazy that they are not accountable. As a cpap consultant I had been selling these several years ago. I have given them the sureguard filters whilst we wait hopefully for a recall

I wonder if at the point manufacturers of all breathing assistant equipment will be called on the carpet for inquiries. I hope all the manufacturers has tasked their engineers to research their equipment to ward off future lawsuits. Of course there will be a few who will arrogantly refuse.

I wonder where they would use that foam in my "DeVil biss" O2 Concentrator? Noise padding?
I think the air is pulled in and compressed in those cylinder to remove the Nitrogen. Any particles
would likely contaminate the chemical(s) in the cylinders..?... And STAY there? Finally, the O2
tubing is very small, I wonder if the foam particles could make it through the skinny tubes to my nose?
I GONNA BE ON THE LOOKOUT !!!
    Another damn thing to make a retired Engineer and an Octogenarian wet his diaper... (-;
(Sure glad I never had to design those things; the penny pinching management always
screws up an otherwise good product!)
