    People seriously need to put you on a pedestal for all of these amazing videos you upload. I don't even think you realize how helpful you are by uploading these videos. We all know that nursing is pretty much a self taught profession because either there is too much information to be taught or the professors are terrible. However, no matter what my theory or clinical day looks like, I know I can always come back to your channels, watch your videos, and come back with a score of 90+ on my exams. I will definitely be grateful to you for the rest of my life for all of the help you've given me! I recommend you to everyone that I come across struggling in nursing school! Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to teach us and for all that you do!

      Wow, THANK YOU so much for the super awesome comment, Dina! I'm so honored to help you all out. I know nursing school is tough, and if my videos can help make it a little bit easier.....that makes my day. THANK YOU for using my videos and for taking the time to leave me this comment. It made my day when I read it. Thank you for studying with me :)

      RegisteredNurseRN I completely agree with the above comment. I first started watching your channel 4 years ago when I started the process of completing my prerequisites for nursing school. Now I’m in last year before I obtain my BSN and I literally rewatch your videos on repeat and it always makes sense. Thank you for the content that you create and your ability to transform complex topics into a way that I understand and remember.

    Hello, I'm a future nurse/ Fundamentals student in an ADN/RN program in Baltimore, Md. Hey Sarah is it a such thing as getting your Rn online?

    • @AdeliaAlessandra
      @AdeliaAlessandra 8 років тому

      Yes it is, in Australia certain universities offer a Bachelor of Nursing degree online. Don't know about the US though.

    • @RegisteredNurseRN
      @RegisteredNurseRN  8 років тому +1

      +Due October Thanks for your question. Most universities allow you to take at least SOME classes online for their nursing programs. However, most require clinical time and classroom training, so you will have to go to a traditional class for those. If you already have an ADN degree in nursing, there are many RN to BSN programs that are 100% online.

    Thank you for sharing your videos. I like to watch your videos because you break it down so simple. Thank you for that. Quick question I got a little confused when you said Edema, Pnuemonia and Asthma could be a result of Resp Acidosis and Resp Alkalosis. Can you help me understand why would these complication be symptoms in both. Thank you Dameacka.

    • @RegisteredNurseRN
      @RegisteredNurseRN  8 років тому

      Hi Dameacka :) Thanks for taking the time to watch my videos. There are various reasons for this because of where the pneumonia or edema is located and how the asthma is presenting (or what caused these problems in the first place)....plus another issues is whatever underlying problems the patient has going on can lead the acidosis or alkalosis. It is pretty complex because different things can cause edema, PNA, and asthma. However, for NCLEX you really just need to know basic patho, nursing interventions, and ABG values (for interpretation). As a side note, there are some great research articles out there, if you google it, about why edema, PNA, and asthma can present in these acid-base imbalances. Thanks again for viewing my videos and your kind words. I wish you the best in your studies.

    Your videos have made it easier of my to study so many concepts. I was able to pass an exam recently on this very subject, even though I had gotten ill and had to leave class. Funny thing was, it was due to me being in acidosis (what a twist!). Your videos on the two subjects helped me understand my own health and got me a solid grade on the exam.
    Anyone who is in nursing school should be following you. I found your website several months ago looking for a study guide for anatomy and have been hooked ever since. Thank you for your lessons and love of teaching!

    I'm carnivore and don't eat carbs at all. ZERO carbs. Recently, I was sick with a virus. Just before, what I thought was full recovery, I became very weak. I suddenly needed sugar. I ate three packets of sugar and a Snickers Bar and soon felt better. When I got home, I ate two bowls of icecream. The next day, I was still a little weak so I had a small bowl of icecream and a protein shake, which contained Citrulline (Not very many enzymatic steps from Citrate). Less than an hour later, I was in the Emergency Room. There, I was given three IV bags and two big Potassium pills. I was told that my Potassium was low, which I found strange because I salt my meat with a 50/50 blend of NaCl and Potassium Citrate. I actually had an electrlyte drink that morning. My discharge papers say Accute Respiratory Alkalosis but I can't help but think that it was Metabolic and more due to my etreme insulin sensitivity and my sugar intake. I wasn't haveing diarrhea and only vomited once. My Potassium was 4.9 just 3 weeks prior.

    • @RegisteredNurseRN

      Hi Stephanie :) Thanks for using my videos to help you study for patho...very awesome! The signs and symptoms you are seeing is mainly due to hypokalemia...when you have low potassium levels the bicarb increases..hence why you have alkalosis. I hope that helps :)

      Typically, yes it will be present because of the patho and nature of what is going on in this condition and how the kidneys play a role in it....but it depends greatly on what is causing the metabolic alkalosis (so you would have to assess that as well).

    So I realized when I’m doing mastery assignments, the videos I have watched I do soooo much better and when I haven’t watched them I do much worse! These have been such a huge help! It’s funny though because even when I watch them I don’t feel like I’m retaining what you’re saying but I actually am! Thank you so much!
