@@MickeyJoTheatre will you be posting any/all to UA-cam as well? I’m sure I’m not the only person without a threads/Twitter account who is eager to see. Maybe a compilation video?
I kept going to Pleasance Dome just to fill up my water bottle because I found it hard to find water points around and I knew there were some there. Great to hear that was Janie's input!🎉
Currently volunteering for pleasance as venue crew. Loving fringe so far, also keeping an eye out to spot Mickey and Aeron :) Saw Jaffa cake the other day and it was great!
I saw you walking into the DnD show (my group performed in the same venue) but I got too nervous to say hi😭 but I promise I was quietly freaking out, it was a dream come true. Big fan! You're the only reviewer I trust
Brilliant video Mickey me and my wife were through there on Saturday seen Bark Bark at summerhall highly recommend it it was incredible! And summerhall is a wonderful venue!
For the first time in as long as I can remember I was eating a galaxy cookie crumble bar tonight. Then I was watching this video and got to the part where you were eating one too. Pretty odd coincidence.
Amazing video blog! Serious question for future hopeful Edinburgh Fringe attendees: how accessible are the venues, the streets etc? Most of the venues look like stair access only and I wonder how the limits a theatre-goers experience.
I've never been, but I've researched this some (I want to go sometime), and the impression I've gotten is that most of the main venues are accessible, though it does require a lot of planning ahead in terms of knowing where the one accessible entrance is and how to get there, and so on. (Those cobblestone streets also look like they'd be a pain to traverse in my wheelchair -- both literally, and because it tends to drain the battery pretty quickly.)
Tbh it’s not great- fine if you can use a cane to manage a couple of steps but the streets are very crowded, cobbled and old. You will be restricted to which venues you can see shows at but there will be a fair portion that have ramp access.
Making comment about cake vs cookies before finishing the video! What I have learned on The Great British Baking Show, Brits call our cookies, buscuits. I am sure you learned that at Schmackary's! :) Speaking of them, I just got a dozen cookies from Schmackary's shipped from NYC to Oregon! OMG just as good as when I had them in NYC! I had 4 different kinds, the Corn one that Aeron likes was my favorite! 😍
If you haven’t and are able to you should go see “if I live until I be a man” at The Space UK! I’ve gotten to talk with some of the people who’ve worked on it regarding a different project of theirs and they are lovely, brilliant people. This is their description; 1483: The young princes Edward and Richard are taken to the Tower of London by their uncle Richard in preparation for Edward’s coronation. By the end of the summer, Richard III is crowned and the boys are never seen again. A comedic, playfully anachronistic, unsettling exploration of childhood during perpetual war, this play traces the 15th century through modern America, imagining the princes' final months as they fight, play, and await coronation or execution. Would love to hear your thoughts!
It's hard to imagine that I really was there a couple of weeks ago, if only for one day lol. (still haven't gotten over the fact that I had a brief conversation with one of my favourite people ever..) I keep looking in the background to see if I might spot anyone I know even tho ik there's really no chance haha
How do you deal with shows starting late at fringe? I was at that performance of diva and luckily didn’t have anything after but getting travel out of Edinburgh was then a problem.
I love the Groundhog Day of the same venue and a lot of different shows, Edinburgh fringe is not at all accessible in a manual wheelchair, stairs , steep inclines, do not attempt without some motorisation, also most venues no room to wheelchair transfer.
Hello! So hearing you say “Loodons” was very funny cause I had an Irish ex who said loodon when we went there and I was laughing for ages but also entirely fair if you’ve only seen it and not heard it. I was trying to think how to type how it’s pronounced, I think it was actually the first way you said it. Lao-don is the best way I can think to type it. It’s like low but it’s not said like the word low.
I don't get why folk touch Bobby's nose for 'luck'. It's a wee dog that spent most of it's live mourning. Do you want that luck? (I mean it's all nonsense anyway, but come on, leave the it alone.)
Hey Everyone! If you're in Edinburgh, be sure to check out Petty Tyrant. Shakespeare, but from the villainous she-clown perspective. It's at The Space UK until the 23rd (but not the 18th) at 11:10pm.
i know you have a lot of comments on such a long video but i must ask you this and hope you at least see it. you mentioned australia has a lot of fringe festivals as i'm sure other countries do too, at least one. I dunno if USA has any, but if fringes have winners then why don't all the winners converge on Edinburgh during that fringe which is the largest and perform but be judged separately and only together to determine a annual world champion? like a pageant. does that sound stupid?
Oh god, you're not staying at (I'm not going to name it here) the one oppose the big pub, made up for individual flats? I thought that closed down. I used to run it in 2016. The owner was/is a criminal. In the first month I ran it I hardly saw him as he was on the run, from the police! He was the reason after 15 years of running youth hostel, I found another profession!
@@MickeyJoTheatre It's in Cowgate. I ran it for six months, one month in one of my staff found a low level version of my job, on Gumtree. The owner kept trying to get rid of me, then his wire logged in, screwed up a huuuuuuuge booking and I was blamed. It backfired though, the owner gave me a week notice and every single member of staff gave him the same. :P

The video cam is a huge upgrade. The stabilization looks great and is much easier on the eyeballs. Congrats.
I'm glad! Still working on the audio, but pleased to be upgrading!
The Emu War musical used your star rating! :)

so so much respect those stagehands and front of the house working this festival.
the sobbing post 'the long run' is so incredibly real.

I absolutely love these longs vlogs and also the fomo is real, I’m mentally already planning a trip to the Fringe next year!
This is the first Fringe since 2014 that I’ve missed (except for Covid year) so I thank you for reconnecting me to the venues and food locales.
Americans do not call cake, cookies. Not sure where Aeron got that but it was very funny to watch him be so confidently wrong.
Yeah, cake is it's own thing, cookies are the things brits call Biscuits.
Americans call all (sweet) biscuits cookies, but not all cookies are biscuits, very rectangle/square kinda situation lol
I was about to comment on this. Two very separate things
Thanks. Looking forward to part 2. Will you do a highlight reel of your favorite shows on UA-cam once Fringe is over?

Sarah Hester-Ross' show is amazing and hilarious! Definitely recommend her show!

I went up a ramp in one of them
A lot of Pleasance’s venues have accessible entrances and staff are very friendly.

If you haven't already - and are able to - I really suggest going to see Solve It Squad at Fringe, it's amazing!

Your first pronunciation of Loudons was correct !

Love that all the US people are “NY friends”
Where did we meet?? 😝
Mickey, I hope I'm not getting ahead of you, but in an earlier vlog you mentioned that a cruise ship will be 'hotel' for the fringe. Did that happen?
That is the week 2 accommodation, I'm there right now!
How do shows for nd their venues? Do the Big ones take applications?
I love you guys ❤

Hi Keane at 2:00:15
Airport - tram route is more scenic than airport - bus.
