@@cbennett196631 I think Mik Kaminski might be, but the cellists might not be. I know on the songs where they're bouncing around the stage, doing all the Chuck Berry/Pete Townshend moves, they appear to be potted down in the mix. I know I've read Jeff Lynne and others say that Richard Tandy had to cover for the string section onstage, playing their parts on either a Mellotron or a string synthesizer, because of the way they were bouncing around. And that might have also been one of the reasons they were using tapes on this tour.
What most people aren't aware of is that Kelly Grouchett was so important to ELO's harmonies between Eldorado to Xanadu. Yes Jeff was the master craftsman and lead vocals but Kelly's backup lead harmonies were unmistakable.😊
Had the pleasure of watching ELO latest at Wembley....AMAZING! 40 plus years of memorable tracks..teleports me everytime i hear Telephone Line or Livin Thing! Incredible talent!
Agree, Kelly was the sugar in the tea..that was elo....of course we all know Jeff was the main brain, but from Kelly came love..most fans could feel it...I ve seen 17 elo concerts, one with Mike A. on bass ...2 elo part 2 ...one jeff Lynne's elo ..and 13 with the magnificent 7 line up....
It took 4 Beatles and George Martin to accomplish what Jeff Lynne has done musically all by himself. Of course, by popularity and commercially, The Beatles are no 1 but musically Jeff Lynne rules. I am a huge Beatles fan but Jeff Lynne is much better with Harmonies, Orchestration, as an incredible Producer, singer and songwriter. Long live Jeff Lynne's ELO!!! Please Tour in 2022!!!
Jeff took the band where I don't think Roy could have......my opinion and I'm a big Cheap Trick fan and Rick and Robin love Roy Wood. (Brontosaurus) Jeff is a genius.
I love ELO, but if they came out and performed 'Do Ya' (and every other song) without hitting all the high notes, guitar licks, i'd be wanting a refund
