Was in military 22 years. Mole skin: Cut a hole size of blister and place around it. Take a second layer, no hole and place on top of base layer. Wrap medical tape on foot around the mole skin, put sock back on. Trust me, better than placing mole skin on blister. Just FYI
Thank you!
Thank you!
Anti persperant before shoes
Wearing 2 pairs of socks eliminates the problem altogether.
Great tip. Thanks.
Rule number one..tell no one you're a prepper. Especially on social media 😆
definitely a good rule,, many gun nuts are bragging how they don't need to prep as their guns will allow them to steal from people that do prep..to bad so many gun nuts are such horribly selfish people,, i love my many guns but would never think they give me the right to steal..
You're a pepper!
I have worn two pairs of thin socks for decades. Walked many thousands of miles. Never had a blister.
What kind? Wool? Cotton? Thanks. As a kid i didn’t have warm boots. I put a bread bag between to pairs of socks and my feet were perfectly warm for sledding and hiking even below zero.
You are lucky. If you want to press your luck, walk on the beach for 20 minutes just wearing socks. 😅
I don't wear two layers of socks but the only blister I've ever gotten was from not wearing socks with poorly fitting new shoes. Good fitting wet shoes without socks are fine.
You left out my number one. Trash/leaf plastic bags. ... 100's of uses. back pack rain cover, emegency rain coat, water storage/carry, ....
Large leaf bag makes, a awesome sleeping bag cover, keeps sleeping bag, dry, and adds another 10+ degrees in of escaping heat... Trap water, gater leaves all kinds of good stuff

I recommend fishing line and aluminum cans for a security system. Tie the fishing line around your camp site with the cans on the line. Add a couple pebbles in the cans. When something trips the line it will rattle loudly and alert you.
While in the military, one of my assignments was working ops with a 4-hr deployment tether, so our bags had to be ready to go. I’d wrap several inches of duct tape around some old plastic cards (like old subscription cards) which was more compact than keeping it on the roll. When I was in SERE, I rolled my ankle during the evasion portion. I used duct tape to wrap and stabilize my ankle (on top of socks) for couple days until the rescue. Worked like a charm! It was a bit difficult but not impossible to pull off.
While on the subject, is 100mph tape really the best?
thank you for your service 🙏
Does anybody here think a Bible would be a good item? Nobody seems to think of preparing spiritually which will take you further than any physical prepping can do. I think it’s wise to do both.
I have a list taped inside my closet door with a few items to grab in a burry. My bible is on that list. Otherwise, I encourage all to read and study the bible, memorize scripture to keep in your heart when you are without your bible to recall passages of comfort.
I agree 💯. The LORD JESUS said ' I HAVE MEAT TO EAT THAT YOU KNOW NOT". His word is meat indeed.
Hopefully the title of the video would suggest - things you didn’t think about….
Exactly! What the heck are you goi g to do 24 hours a day in the wilderness? I’d be reading the Bible 4 hours a day at least.
😂
I would recommend keeping a small magnifying sheet in the mini SAS book. The print is tiny.
As I've got older I've noticed how small print is now.
A small fresnel lens is perfect.
@@christophermitchell7925 I'll try that, because it is getting to be a big problem.
Magnifying glass is a good idea anyway.
It can also aid in lighting a fire...
FEMININE PRODUCTS, females you know will THANK YOU!
They are also EXTREMELY good for wounds, I always keep some in my first first kit, and for lighting a fire....along with a small tub of petroleum jelly, as far as I'm concerned it's pretty much the best for starting a fire.
I also strongly suggest all kinds of feminine products, not just in case of a surprise accident. Cotton inside of Tampax, is basically rolled up gauze, that can be used as for medical moments, cuts, scrapes, padding to protect a wound. Sanatary pads, doesn't matter what brand, however, try to get the house hicker pads and use them as pressure bandages. Men may not want to have them face up against their foreheads or ears, however, leave the sticker on, and wrap the wound /cut appropriately. I was a nursing student 30+ years ago in Los Angeles, CA., and when it came around for our first aid training and do a show and tell for our emergency bags, teachers and classmates were impressed with the innovative and suggested ideas that I had put together. Thank you for your chanel and helping other people out. God bless. M
@@Michelle-ro8dk I always keep a 1/2 dozen or so Tampax in my first aid kit. some in my fire lighting kit as well.
We used cut up non scented tampons for nose bleeds for the wrestling team.
I made a huge pile of reusable organic flannel pads and tampons. They clean really well with cold water and oxyclean. And still have tons of uses. I plan to make enough for all the women in my family.
Prepper granny with raised in the military, Critical Care and ER nurse. I recently read a preppers advice to have a chest tube available for chest trauma. I am a traumanurse, certed in peds and adults. Chest tube? Unless you pack a stokes basket( unlikely) or have the time to make a stretcher. This person wont walk out. Sometimes you have to treat and keep moving.
Even needle decompression is unrealistic for most people
Those of us who live in very rural areas are always prepared. This isn't 'prepping'; it's old fashioned, self sufficient country life. I remember the Ice Storm of 1998 where people were iced in without power for weeks; THAT'S the kind of thing I prep for. I have a large garden every year and months of food preserved from the garden, a whole house generator that runs on natural gas (probably the last power source to fail), plus a solar power station in our camper, our own well and a stream on the property. A wood stove and wood supply (Michigan in the winter in a tent?). Weaponry of course. I have no intention of 'bugging out'; I live in the kind of area 'preppers' would flee to.
@@lynnw7155 Prepping is shorter.
We already live off grid, grow our own food. Appropriately arm. Variety of akills. Good network of like minded folks. We won't even know anything haa happened for awhile.
Not necessarily true. I live in a "rural" area, somewhat remote, in tje "country", and most in my community laugh at being prepared. As long as they have their alcohol and a full belly most seem content.
This is how I was taught. Emergency preparedness is for all things that can happen... not just the election.
Old pill bottle. Put alcohol wipes ( NOT wet wipes) and strike anywhere matches inside. If the wipes dry out, you have a piece of dry cotton to use.
Looks to me that the alcohol wipes would ruin the matches unless you carry them in separate bottles.
@@lewis9888 don't take them out of the package. Keep individual but don't unwrap

Pine needles work well as fire starter.
This was the BEST video, ANY prepping channel has made, IN A LONG LONG TIME. BEFORE this video, EVERY video for A LONG TIME, has been a rerun, basically/every prepping item list video, I've watched, for PROBABLY AT LEAST the last 2 years, included items that I already owned, this video actually had a few items I didn't already own, listed in it, we NEED more videos like this.
There was actually 9 items listed in this video, that I didn't have, two I planned on getting, and 7 I now plan on getting.
One thing so simple that no one ever thinks of is paper, pencils and permanent markers (sharpies).
The Staedtler Lumocolor Permanent marker is a better choice than Sharpie. Recommend the Duo version, has a medium tip on one end and a fine tip on the other. They last longer, write on more stuff, are more permanent and won't fade with sun exposure. If you get it on your skin you're going to be wearing it for awhile. The guys at work call them "never come off until you're dead or maybe even longer" markers.
@@papafrank7094 Got in spades. Also? Waterproof paper! For the outdoors!
For what exactly?
And all on sale now!!!
TSA wants to keep you from bringing anything that could save your life.
Well, to be fair to the TSA,.....
Read the rules and find useful stuff that works within their rules! I know this obvious, but most just complain about it and don’t do the research!
I have a couple driveway alarms... their names are Goose and Saxa. 🤣 There's no mistaking that someone pulled in, that's for sure. (And most who do, won't come to the door, lol.) Those two set off the rest of the house, too, so by the time all is said and done, we have six driveway alarms, lol. They come highly recommended! 😉
I love my driveway alarms too.
We also have one big driveway alarm intruders will think twice before entering our property 😁
And I thought I was doing so well! I have 5. The sewer plug was something I have never heard of OR thought of! Next on my list. Thank you. Very informative!
To be fair, most newer homes have a thing called a back flow prevention flap/valve that stops sewage from coming back to your home or leaking in from the street. If you are on high ground, then no need to worry.
So you plug the sewer to prevent "foreign" sewage from coming in...but now your "domestic" sewage backs up, unless you "go" outside...
@Duke_Romilar_III that's not how it works. Trust me you don't want to be without one, especially if you live in town in an older home.
Thats The IDEA. DIG a latrine and pit to bury other waste FIRST after power goes. OF COURSE YOU DONT USE YOUR TOILET. DUH@Duke_Romilar_III
@@lavonnetraylor8403 duh yourself. I live in the boonies, at the military crest of a hill, and have a septic system. Not everybody is familiar with city slicker problems...
Finally a prepper mentioned the Biolite campstove. It is awesome.
You might also get a couple of books that are out there. "Where there is no doctor" and " Where there is no dentist "...
Something to put out a fire. If you're carrying it, a fireproof blanket. It you're sheltering in place, canister types. But, you will be using open flames for cooking, heating, etc., so having something to put out an accidental fire is absolutely essential.
The type of video that makes you subscribe instantly. Greetings from Brazil!!
I use the motion alarms for garden security and to let me know when a car comes down my long driveway. They`re also good to let you know when an animal takes the bait when hunting/trapping. Mine have volume control and can be used with small power stations if camping.
I actually had 7 of these. The rest I can't afford being on soc security. Great video and info. Thanks
I live on 457/mo. SS. I have most of these preps. Watch the pennies and the dollars will watch themselves.

The SAS survival guide I had when I was 12. It’s great fun.
I work in a warehouse that receives the items that people leave behind when they have restricted items on them. Tactical pens are always in the items. Put them in your checked bag, or don’t bring them. You’ll have to leave them behind. At least flying out of Chicago
Got 11 of these, but you gave me some good ideals of things I needed.
Funny how many people think that when trouble comes they are going to start hiking and living off the land. Y'all ain't got a clue what's coming, and y'all ain't going to live off the land.
YES! I have always laughed at the "Bug Outers". Where exactly are you bugging out to? Someone else's land? You don't think they will be violently defending what's their and know every inch of their property? Yes, there is public land...and how many other people will you be vying to contend with with no shelter or food except what you carried in? In a city? I understand...but you have better purchased your own land to bug out to. For what it's worth.
When the non prepper's come for you, you will wish you had bugged out. And it just won't be once but repeatedly. As the feral beasts they will become, if they can't overcome you they will burn you out and hope to find a few supplies the fire did not destroy. Getting something is better than giving up and getting nothing. Many cities will not have enough water to supply their populace and you will need more than you can store up. So what will you do when you don't have any water? Bug out or die of thirst.
I agree that planning on bugging out with out a well laid out plan, caches, etc. is a as much as a fools errand, as bugging in, in a city. You will not survive living only off the land, which is where the caches come in.
@@76hotdog We create such scenarios as the one you describe, usually from movies we have seen. Red Dawn for instance is an oldie but goodie, but the reality of such an event happening in today's modern world is simply fantasy. And all we have to do is look to the event taking place in the Middle East. Or take Joplin Mo getting leveled in 2011. Guarantee Joplin was full of folks prepared for many things including a tornado and in one storm it can all be swept away.
We can never predict our future, especially the future to come that will be unlike any change we have seen. And it will be done willingly!
@@WORDversesWORLD Only time will tell.
But there are 2 types of prepping: for Natural disasters or SHTF, (which includes wars).
Somewhere in Europe a war breaks out about every 60 years or less. Some turn into major conflicts like WW1 and WW2.
In many other places in the world, this is a fairly common occurrence. Look at Syria, Ukraine, Gaza, etc. Thinking it will never happen here is just sticking your head in the sand. Russia has been threatening to Nuke NATO countries( including the US), which would create an SHTF scenario, in the nuked areas. Time to get Real, the threat of SHTF exists.
@@76hotdog If your not already coming out of the current system, your already behind. Game is up, time is now!

Make sure you have a manual can opener. I have a woodstove, manual well pump, a wonderful well, a wood fired cob oven, a garden, 6 months worth canned goods, four oil lamps, candles, EMT bag(I am a firefighter/EMT), fire extinguisher, and many other things. I plan on staying in my home not leaving. I have fishing and hunting gear.
In 2000 there was a catastrophic ice storm. I enjoyed it. It was very quiet. We had no electricity for 38 days. I have lived through two direct hit tornadoes and two catastrophic floods. I have lost everything I owned twice. The thing is we survived without all of the survival gear that everyone says you have to have. And there wasn't any looting because where we live everyone knows that everyone has a gun and if you don't want to be shot then you don't do it. I live in the Ouachita mountains of Southwest Arkansas.
You’re going to need more than 6 months-more like 2-4 years-famine is coming.
The Swing-A-Way brand can opener will be your best choice. Accept no substitutes.
Every car should have a road maps book.
Be able to navigate without road signs. No guarantee that they'll be there.

Milk goes before expiration date way too often. Stores don’t store cold enough.

Cheap trade goods are a good idea to pack and most are nearly weightless. Even if you don't personally indulge, airline flight alcohol bottles, a couple of packs of smokes, batteries, single serving soaps and shampoo sourced from hotels, tampons...
Think about what other people might need and chances are the barter system can work in your favor. Most everyone will have some of their bases covered but there will always be people without. Hell. There are people without right now. Even something as mundane as a couple of extra Life Straws can wind up making you a deal for something you might really need or lack initially.
Buy heirloom seeds so you can save your own seeds from year to year.

I always go a little crazy on small but necessary items . I just gotten 10 temporary filling kits . I found a deal but they are only $30 on Amazon. Lemon extract is also a great thing to have. It will help kill the nerve . Last thing we all know painkillers are highly illegal to possess even in a proper situation . Kratom is a great alternative and legal. It all natural and relatively cheap and has the same exact effects as a opiate
I've watched many of your videos, and this is my favorite!
Squeezing a lever is much easier than a crank handle which requires two hands, however most of the squeeze lights on the market are fake. Meaning the squeeze lever does nothing to generate power and the light actually runs off several non-rechargeable button cell batteries. Once those batteries run out the light is dead. If you want a real squeeze generator light get the Fenix E-Star. You can even remove the rechargeable NiMH AA battery on the E-Star and only charge the built-in capacitor. If I remember correctly the E-Star will also accept an alkaline AA battery, just can't recharge it.
I scored two.
Can’t imagine why you would need most of the other stuff.
😶
If you need a geiger counter, it's too late.
Thanks for all of the information and different ideas. This was AWESOME!
something no one seems to mention are prescription meds. You should keep a 30 day supply of each of your meds stashed away. Tell you Dr. what you are doing and (s)he should hep you. Mine did.

TSA took one of my tactical pens because the end was too sharp. The other one, however, needed to be opened to expose the sharp end, and that one went through (different plane trips).
Twenty two THOUSAND DOLLARS 😢just to croak no matter what😢besides how MANY bugout bags can you physically carry?
Gas mask wording would get you in trouble in the military. "Protective Mask."
sewer plugs are a must have for houses built in the 60s that have storm drains that overflow into the sanitary in exceptionally heavy rainfall. houses with basements are the first to get indoor pools.
use the plug to isolate your house from the sanitary line. have a couple that fit your toilets and sinks that are below ground level.
if you cant get a sewer plug, trade name is 'test plugs', use a deflated dodgeball.
have a hose and method to inflate whatever plug type you choose.
it's advisable to install the plug as close to the street connection so you'll be able to use your toilets for emergencies.
No one can find my sewer output {whatever it’s called}
Rechargeable AA and AAA batteries and a 12v car charger to charge them !
Even when the electricity grid goes down, you can charge them from any car or solar panel !!
I've got 15 of the items.
I've been so busy helping care for 2 relatives, and while I'm prepped some, I haven't looked at my emergency bug out bag in a while. This is for if i can't make it home from work. But it's loaded with the stuff i would need in case of lights out as well or medical emergency. It stays in the car.
You have a lot of good ideas here.
Can you share some of your ideas that you gave in your car? I’m concerned about my daughter who works a long way from home.
Never tell others of your preps.
Having "stuff" can make you a victim.
Having "knowledge" will make you an asset.
I like the sewer plug idea. You know, for when SHTF.
Of the list though.......... well, I have duct tape.
Thankfully on septic.
A Holy Bible.
Salvation!!
I'll never run outta TP that way !

I suppose in an emergency situation you could use it as tinder.
bible for toilet paper
2 things you forgot ... nail clipper.. fingers are 1 thing but having to bite toe nails lol 😅 and an antibiotic supply...
Some Gorilla Tape to supplement duct tape is also a good addition. 5 min epoxy for repairs, and dont foget the little things, like a leather sewing kit, bag of various rubber bands, ect.
The chief virtue of any Baofeng radio in my opinion is its low cost. They have a reputation for being spectrally noisy and having a tinny speaker. Although I have a few different models of these, I prefer to use any of my Big 3: Yaesu, Kenwood or Icom. I find they usually are more dependable, more versatile and more rugged. Unfortunately, they are also a lot more expensive. In the end, however, when the excrement hits the oscillating rotary device, we'll all use whatever is at hand and be happy with it.
I have about 18 of these..
No, didn't know about the sewer blocker, plumbing is a weak knowledge point for me but I did get a huge book on the subject. The small Survival Guide, it is part of a series of small books called Collins Gems, they do sell them in the US, there's an American publisher listed at the front of the books. There are books on foraging, knot tying, trees, mushrooms, coastal plants, knots, even other non prepper activities like card games, the stars, birds, languages. I learned a lot of my early plant/mushroom identification from these books because you will take it with you hiking, whatever. You have them for if the internet goes down and they are fairly inexpensive.
Great content, Did I miss Fire Starters ? There are countless really good firestarter kits. I recommend a good supply, of several kinds..👍🇺🇸👍🇺🇸
Can you do a video on item 6. I want to learn more about how to use this and issue with sewage back up. Thank you
Yes, I agree. I have a septic so it doesn’t apply to me. But alllllll of my family lives in city and this will be an issue.
A funnel with coffee filters helps as all you have to do after that is boil the water. The amount of water storage I have has to be seen to be believed, I work on 6 jerry cans per person.
Wow, excellent list of pepper items! They appear to be more for the pepper who is planning for bugging out at some point. I plan on bugging in but I also realize that the circumstances may change and bugging in is no longer an option. I only have 8 out of the 25 items you suggested. I will reconsider some items and decide what to supplement my stockpile.

Cheek filter respirators such as the M17 gas mask aren't recommended. You can't change the filter while you're wearing the mask and the filters don't last as long. If you're going to buy a milsurp respirator, I recommend the M40 or the MCU-2/P. They are inexpensive compared to the latest in respirator technology but still are modern enough to get the job done. Cheek filter masks aren't really produced anymore and the filters aren't either. The M40 uses 40mm filters that are still being made to this day
Lots of great info. Thanks for the video!
Outstanding video. Thank you. And thank you for the links!
