I have the Marantz PM 11S3 and am also considering this integrated although the S/N ratios are better on the MM & MC sections of the Marantz; that said the Denon is more alive sounding.
Beautiful set up, I have A110 hooked up to Kef reference 2.2s. Amp is very delicate and powerful when required. DAC on board does a superb job, absolutely worth the money. Very musical amp with serious drive it represents immense value for money. I would describe the sound as having a class A bias. It can be revealing of bad recordings. Handles DSD, MQA and all other formats brings some real atmosphere via onboard DAC. Highly recommended. Volume control via remote nicely judged very quick to respond.
Thank you. I’ve changed my gears including these speakers and I had no further experience. But I guess the tonality remains very similar or even better…
I have the same speakers, love them..driving them with Marantz PM11S2 but seriously considering the Denon PMA A110.. You have any thoughts on that Karl? I listen mainly classical(chamber and orchstral) and Jazz (Sax , piano trios) Thanks!
How is the Denon's volume control from the remote? Has it enough precision? I have at home two old Denons from the 90s which have got slow and precise movement of the knob and allow adjusting volume in little steps. More recent pma1600ne instead is very poor in this regard, a little touch of the volume buttons on the remote does the knob move for like a centimeter with heavy inertia and you have no mean to finely adjust volume.
@@oldskool2044 the Harbeths are very musical, not power hungry. The Denon is very detailed, airy with nice tonality. The synergy between them is really high-end. Overall a well balanced presentation with almost all genres of music. Highly recommended especially on the price you can get it, keeps up with both Yamaha A S1200/2200 or even I rather preferred the Denon. Also to note, you have a great DAC onboard. Hope it will help you!
@@oldskool2044 congratulation, excellent choices. I’m quite sure you will love this set up. Give a few days for the amp while opening up and pls let me know your first impressions. The Harbets will shine in your system. Cheers!
I like the maching with Harbeth .I have a question .The amplifier have very bright sound.I have the same speakers and i am between two amplifiers denon Pma 110 anniversary and Hegel H190.
Both amps are decent with the Harbeth. Personally, I’d take the Denon. Get the best out of the Harbeth maybe worth to check and move up with the amp. Finally I returned the Denon.
@@RDSGolden my experience with the Pass Labs vs Denon: extremely musical, more detailed, zero fatigue, almost tube 3D, lots of air; the best SS i’ve ever heard. Less power though, but more than enough especially with Harbeth. Last comparison i did was against Luxman, definitely the Pass Labs I prefer. In the price range of Denon, I’m not sure you can find better, but that depends on your taste. Which type of sounds are you looking for and which speakers with?
@@nusstu yes, it’s a bit of true. I’m using more and more the tube because of the overall presentation of the music. Like the Copland, it’s much less typical tubish sounding but keeps much better 3 dimensionality and engaging factor. The kt150 power tubes are magical with a good implementation. Tonal balance and accuracy is top. Transistor amps are different even the class-A. For sure all this is upon personal preferences.

@@karl9865 I have focal 1008be looking to get the Denon pma 2500 as I can’t quite afford the one you have but similar unit at least.

Nice synergy and a very musical setup.
Thank you Mathew!

Its settled, I've got to get a PMA a110. Amazing.
Congrat, you will enjoy!
Beautifully vibrant, dancing sound...
Thank you!
This video is 2 years ago, still really great. I thought of paring this A110 with ProAC D20R. Not sure if it will be too bright .
I did that too and worked well
Does the Denon pair good with Dynaudio?
typical harbeth sound:) acoustic guitar sounds great on them.In this video I hear booming bass

I don't think it has MQA
Doesn't have mqa (and I prefer so, honestly).
It has been measured to work in class A until about 5 Watt power.
Denon is in my point of view underrated
I agree….
That Denon sounds shockingly good with those harbeths. Have you tested the internal dac ? How does it sound ? The unit seems like a great value.
Yes, the internal dac is great, however i mostly used with Chord qutest or Dynafrips, subtle differences only. Absolutely a great value!
like the sound!!...do you know what the difference is with the same harbeth model but the XD version?...
Harbeth Super HL5+ XD
Thank you. I’ve changed my gears including these speakers and I had no further experience. But I guess the tonality remains very similar or even better…
Hello, Does the Denon have enough power to fully drive the Harbeths?
Hi, absolutely with ease and having more than enough power reserve.
😍
