When I was a grade schooler we took the SS Baer Mountain to tolchester on Sunday morning and sometimes we took the SS Baybelle to Beterton, beautiful memories of the Chesapeake Bay

Hi Lincoln- My son is doing a project for National History Day on the steamboats of the Bay. Would you be willing to answer a couple of questions from him by e-mail or by phone? It would be great to hear your stories.

Let's not forget what quiet times allowed - THINKING. The steamboat age along the east coast was a time without constant interruption and stress. The food was clean, the air was fresh, and people had manners and genuine interest in each other. What have we become?

Thanks for posting this video. My family was involved the the company and I love being able to look back as I've heard so many stories but never seen 1st hand.

I made the last voyage of the Old Bay Line, roundtrip from Norfolk to Baltimore
as a Sea Explorer headed to Annapolis for a weekend at the Academy.
The Old Bay Line pier in Norfolk is now occupied by the Battleship Wisconsin.

They should do this again. I'm not far from Tolchester and could use a boat ride across the bay at $9 a trip. I assume $9 was more like $90 then.
