Controllers: Logitech Extreme 3D Pro flight stick, TrackIR5, CH Pro Pedals
PC system info: 64-bit Vista, 2.66 GHz Core i7, 8GB RAM, Radeon HD 4850 512MB
The E.III used wing warping to control roll instead of actual ailerons. For controlling the speed of the engine there was a fine (mixture) adjustment and a "blip" or cutout switch which turned the engine on and off. It was a very effective plane as it was the first to be fitted with a machine gun that fired through the propeller.

It can be done. You can use a mouse or hat switch to look around.

I'm curious, is this the only early-war German fighter you can pilot? Or can you use the Pfalz E-series monoplanes as well?

Or simply buy the "TrackClip Pro" for about $50 and download "Free Track". Works perfect for me!
I have the same joystick, how are you looking around so quickly with the head movements. What do you have your setting set to?
im currently using a dumb ol' xbox controller...with the twin toggle sticks. works great actually - of course i'll have to get a force-feedback flightstick, but it's still an amazing sim with THIS current setup (i set the 2nd toggle to free-look)
To roll the plane used wing warping instead of ailerons, which changed the shape of the wing itself to reduce or increase lift on either wing, allowing it to roll. To control the RPM of the engine, you change the ratio of air to petrol. See? No ailerons or throttle needed! :D

I love the Career mode. Gives me some chances to record awesome kills and dogfights. :) So far, Esc.SPA103 is my main Flight group I do this in, next to 103rd Areo
E3 is plane for real men :-D thumps up

The game is Rise of Flight. You can still get it on Steam. It’s rather old though, the updated version is IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles: Flying Circus.
