Sadly many others will follow. (One already has this week) Also, I guess bike shows like this could start to disappear as cost/profit analysis kicks in. The watch and car industry have already pulled back on Expo type shows.
MTB’s with gear boxes is the future. We have come a long way from center pull brakes to cantilever brakes to hydraulic disk brakes. From hardtail to full suspension. Now we need to see leaps in the drivetrain. Gear boxes are the leap.
Your blind zeal for future tech and so called “progress” is a mindset i detest. Newer in many cases is not better. In fact, simpler is often better. It is not a big deal to replace a cog on your cassette, but a sealed system drivetrain goes out… now you’re talking higher cost or more complex repair. The average joe rider thats keeps bikes for 10+ years want reliability and easy fixes
@@mtbdawg4987 well its a good job that gear boxes basically dont fail. Just remember the amount of maintenance of a gearbox vs a traditional mech drivetrain is gonna save you a fuckload of money in the long run anyway. And when it comes to service and repair, effigear and pinion gearboxes are no different to the one in your car or motorbike; standard planetary & shaft gears. And even if it is that much more expensive, fucking everything is when its new to the industry, itll come down when it becomes more common
@Neil, come on; that santa cruz blur is is Keegan Swenson's race bike! he won the Pro xc Race (and always has the trick setups), spotlight the guy and his mechanic for more on how they use their equipment, pretty please :-)
Have Fox or Rockshox explored magnetorheological damper tech like some cars use? The system is probably too heavy or complex for a bicycle but benefits for cars have been amazing due to ability of damper to stiffen/soften instantly
As someone that's replaced a lot of ski edges, I definitely wouldn't want a chainring built in a similar way😂 I would have bought one of those chainrings if I didn't know that🙃
Thank you for the report! Regarding the slalom bike: I came across a statement that you shouldn't exceed 30mm of spacers under your stem. Is it a myth or there's actual justification for this?
The tests required to sell a motorcycle helmet are quite a bit different than those of a bicycle helmet due to the speeds involved. Same with e-bikes, I presume.
One piece wheels? Thank you for the imaginative push forward with creative design, but absolutely no thank you. That’s a place on a bike we’re being modular allows the user to create their own custom experience.
#askgmbntech What the f is ebike certified? I'm pretty damn sure I've broken many ribs and smashed my head on my downhill bike pointed down a mountain with certified gear many times over someone climbing a trail on an ebike?
Sorry but those gold fox forks just look cheap and nasty🤮🤮🤮 looks like something I did as a kid using spray cans from the local DIY shop..Looks worse than the dog 💩 brown forks they did. Whats next, rainbow coloured or maybe bright pink or yellow.
Wow...yet again seaotter doesn't disappoint, the pinarello dogma is a very nice looking machine, as well as the specialized at the end, loving the joins & lugs on the frame, really nice, it's also good to see belt driven bikes with internal hub gearing, as the two go hand in hand for those round the world low maintenance epic adventures, personally i would like to see more of that design as you loose all that extra weight as well as constant maintenance & worry of failing parts when in the deepest & remote places around the world were you can do without mechanical headaches, seaotter is a great place to have gogglebox eyes to drool over all the new & next generation of bikes & tech.
The Kona booth is the best!
Yeah.... Didn't see it. I hope they stick around, my first proper bike was a Kona
They broke
Please try to investigate what is happening with our beloved Kona😢
Sadly many others will follow. (One already has this week)

Kona is a Legend. Old School Brand.
They were definitely getting baked in that box.
I was waiting for Mike Tyson to peek his head out saying, next!
@@justsayin3600 Nexth 😂
Thanks for stop by at our booth! AMAZING vid here :)

That 100k incentive to win on a Gates belt drive is the highest prize purse in DH ever...? Exciting side bet!
Very cool idea isn't it! Is the age of the gearbox upon us?
We Are One! Can't wait to ride my new Arrival bike!
Great job; very comprehensive.
Lot's to cover! And lot's more to come over the next few days
Zerode. Brilliant.
Nice video. I’ll be there in 30 minutes. Looking forward to it.
Enjoy! It's great this year 👍
WEO DH looks dope… Also Dak’s Stak Mondraker looks sweet too

Good show Neil! I'm driving down to Sea Otter tomorrow....I hope to say Hi if I see you!
Please do!
I love mondraker bikes.
They look so fucking sick. I would get one if price weren't a consideration
@@c0nsci0usness if they didn't have headset cable routing either
Mondrakers are just the best 😍
Interesting to see a few of the bikes (in the beginning of the video) all have the new Race Face Chester grips.
Pretty intrigued!
Any details around that Onoff bar with 50mm rise on Dakota’s Mondraker bike?
The WeAreOne bikes look soooo good.
Love the new Pinarellos but hate the Specialized with those cheap-looking carbon tubes.
no way! I thought i saw neil yesterday but i didnt know if he was actually here!

Love to see.
WHAT THE HELL is a ebike certification for helmets?!😂
Like standard certification but heavier, it does the hard bit for you and the owners will tell you it's better? 😉 Just kidding 😂
The average ebike rider is carrying a few extra kg, so they need to hold up to heavier falls.
...aaaaaand: it's a motor bike....
Great commentary as usual! Would love to hear more about those stealthy, under the bar tape trigger shifters at 9 min 30!!
What is an ebike certified helmet? Talk about marketing😂

It's kind of weird - Shimano have made steel on composite rings for many years. Why does no one mention this?
@@HaggisPower I doubt they're making them with a similar, internal structure of a ski edge.
Brage is not a psychopath, he has viking genes😅
How can a Helmet be Ebike certified ? What does that mean ?
No sign of the 2024 Zeb? I heard it's got a snappy red paintjob!
Thank you for the report!

Looks like my 2001 Santa Cruz Superlight 😂❤
Yoshi pedals ! Nom Nom I want some
Good video looking at the latest tech. EBike rated helmet though 😂😂😂 sounds like another way for them to up the price
Love the new Chevy wheels on Nino’s Spark replica 😂
I want to hear more about the one-piece wheel!
I hear there's new Polygon bikes 🙌
bro please tell where i can get those sunglasses you wearing .very cool
An e-bike ‘certified’ helmet, what next 🤣
The tests required to sell a motorcycle helmet are quite a bit different than those of a bicycle helmet due to the speeds involved. Same with e-bikes, I presume.
spez doing lugged prototype proving the athertons has always been on the right track for a long time
interesting to see brage still riding the previous gen fury. does the current one not come in 27.5?
Would anyone be able to tell me what Neil's sunglasses are? cheers

Unfortunately I have too many bikes already. What are we to do when new stuff comes out??
What’s is an “e-bike certified” helmet??
Is doddy still at gmbn Tech?
So RS has finally got rid of the Motion Control damper on their budget trail/enduro offerings. About fucking time.
Specialized Legend, or Banshee Demo ?
Yes. 😎
A grip that get's hartd at a impact and is soft while riding? The other way arround would make sense but not this way.
Thats what i thought exactly
Are you going to cover why Kona set up and then packed up?
I don’t know and as far as I’m aware it hasn’t been made public yet
Cool, I guess the ebike helmets have a Faraday cage
😄
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Gates must be very sure of that winning thing never happening😂
Running 160/140mm rotors on my XC bike. Don't really need more.

man can i have a ling of your Sunglasses ! They are top !
How about the KARBON Powwline SL e bike? Boutique brand from Massachusetts.
How do you go about “e-bike rating” a helmet?!
