Definitely one of Rammstein's most intimate songs, with a deeper meaning again! It's a song with a double meaning as well. First it's about artificial fertilization in general. But then there is this reference to Till's and Richard's complicated relationships with their own mothers. Rammstein never fail, even if comes to lyrics or songs or stage presence, do they!?
Auch wieder so ein Song von Rammstein mit einem Thema, was keine andere Band je angefasst hat. Nicht nur dadurch unterscheidet sich die Truppe von anderen.
This song came out when there was a discussion here in Germany (Europe?) about the cloned sheep Dolly (concieved in haste an without semen). Dolly had no childout, was old at birth (tears of old children) and aged not well. This song if full of references to that.
Till, as usual, and the band bring yet another emotional, powerful composition to us........thanks for your thoughtful reaction .........I have read that "Mutter" is about genetic engineering and cloning (with no Mutter)
Great reaction as always. Fun fact to this song ist that (rumor), that this song is very famous in Russia to play/sing it on Mother’s Day. They probably had no subs so they should have learned that it’s a very sad song full of critics and references. 🤷🏻♂️
Everytime when Til cries severeral times after his mother and then the guitar starts i get goose bumbs all over my body. You also have to think of clon technology cause e.g. "In meiner Lunge steckt ein Schlauch, hab keinen Nabel auf dem Bauch" means "There's a tube in my lungs, I don't have a navel on my stomach" or "Gezeugt in Hass und ohne Samen, niemand gab mir einen Namen" - "Conceived in hate and without sperm, no one gave me a name". Rammmstein very often work with double meanings in their texts.
There's never anything superficial about Rammstein songs, they're all multi-layered. Mutter always sends tingles down my spine, from the guitars that are almost crying, the sound of the child at the start in this performance, the howl of MUTTER from Till to the sad pleas of "Mother, give me strength". There's so much anger and desperation in this song and a lot of it is suggested to have come from Till and Richard's poor relationships with their respective mothers when they were young. The relationships seem to have improved as the guys have become older, but they certainly haven't forgotten their experiences of feeling that they weren't important to their mothers. I think this is the point of view in the writing-for all that they mattered, they might as well have been born from experiments. Great reaction as always from you fella. Keep going, there's a hell of a back catalogue for Rammstein to react to!
But Till has good relationship with his mother. He is mama child. But you are not german, you can't it no. We can read it and there are also photos with his mother on Facebook.

"Mutter" is a song by the German music group Rammstein, which was released in 2001. The lyrics of the song revolve around the theme of a mother-child relationship and express the thoughts and feelings of a child towards their mother. In the piece, the child describes the unconditional love of their mother and her caring nature, as well as her strictness and demands on the child. The child sometimes feels overwhelmed and wants to break away from their mother, but realizes that they would be lost without her. The music of "Mutter" is characterized by strong, piercing guitar riffs and a pounding rhythm in combination with the powerful, emotional voice of singer Till Lindemann. The song is a classic of Rammstein and is often regarded as one of their best songs. As you can see, the song can be understood and interpreted in many different ways.
ganz klar, weil du dich anscheinend selber nicht verstehst. Schaust dir ein Video an in dem sich ein nicht deutsch sprechender Mensch ein Rammstein Video ansieht. I agree with that. Sometimes educatedmarine plays too much with embedded subtitles, so they distract much more than I would consider as acceptable.

There is difference between an interpretation and making up a complete new story!
There is reading between the lines, and then there is reading a completely different text
lyric translation not always accurate.. drown in the river instead of sink in the river ...
