Good news. The plan was launched first in 1983 by Indra Gandhi. Then the project was launched from Baramulla end in 1997 also. During the period of prime minister Vajpai it was declared as national project and liberal funding provided to this Railways project.

main physical work started in 1999 under Vajpai ji and was almost stagnant from 2008 to 2013, atleast SriNagar got railways from Banihal during that time. The most impressive work was done after 2014.
