@AlexanderMason1 better than advertised. They claim 8 hours but I've gone to school with it on, had it play all day, work for 5 hours, and it still had charge. If you install rockbox it'll only use 30 percent over 10 hours
Great video. This one looks to be the exact same thing as the Surfans F20, but in a different case? (Sockets, button layout all in the same place and display looks the same, don't know if maybe some internal differences?) There's a problem with the Surfans F20: When it gets to the end of an album it goes back to the beginning of that album rather than playing the next album by the same artist (despite the setting that looks like it should change this). Does anyone happen to know if the HiFi Walker has the same problem (software looks the same, so I assume it does...)? From the look of it, this one is preferable to the Surfans because it has those rounded off corners (the Surfans F20 has very sharp corners). Then again, I don't like its keychain(?) slot, can't imagine anyone using that!
apparently sound quality is about the same (both are using TI DACs) but mechen m30 doesn't have Bluetooth...he also mentioned the scroll wheel controls are maybe better placed on this one (and using USB C instead of microUSB) so this one seems a little nicer overall idk
@@phonetech1640 m30, h2, f20 surfans. They're all the same, I would just go for the H2 though. It was rereleased with USB-C opposed to the others, comes out of the box with the best firmware. (Heard the m30 has some issues, like a year back) Only con is really the bluetooth, the range is kinda bad & has some playback issues... but most people use wired headphones with these anyway so... Yeah. Also bluetooth just drains the battery more anyway. TL;DR, its ultimately just goes down to preference. Only deal breaker is the charge ports, you can rockbox all of them.
Is this better than the ipod classic 5.5? even if its modded with bluetooth and a higher battery capacity? Im new to this tech and want to learn more :) loved the review btw :D
I got it have Shure aonic 40 headphones flac hires music files and it sounds awesome very good range and I can't even turn it to the loudest volume as it's too much for my ears so amplification is great can't imagine something that sounds much better
@@Mk_SiMBA It's obviously subjective but, testing the comparison between the F20 and H2 reveals subtle but significant differences in their audio performance. While both share a similar sonic signature, the H2 edges out the F20 in overall quality. The F20 appears to have a slightly lower maximum volume output, and critically, its dynamic range and overall detail seem less refined than the H2. These differences aren't readily apparent without careful volume matching using an SPL meter, highlighting the subtlety of the improvements the H2 offers. For those deliberating between the two, the H2 provides a slightly superior sonic experience. While the F20 boasts a physically larger battery, both devices ultimately offer comparable battery life. Furthermore, the H2 distinguishes itself with a notably lower noise floor, a subtle benefit that improves the clarity and purity of its audio output, whereas the F20 has a slightly higher background noise. These nuances in sound quality, possibly tied to their different DAC chips, make the H2 a more compelling option for audiophiles seeking the most refined listening experience.
The device is far too quiet when connected to Bluetooth and a Bose box. Is there a chance it can play louder? As it is, it is definitely too quiet and unusable. thanks
I got mine recently. It's pretty great!
Awesome review, all questions answered. Thank you! 🙂
I had one of these, got it back in 2020 or so. Back then it used Micro-USB and the connector wore out. I did love it while I had it.
How good is the battery life?

@@chuckles1808 wow not bad. I might get the newer version. Maybe the battery life is even better. Thanks for the reply
It's a fantastic lil gadget, had mine 6 months and drives my IEMs perfectly, I Rockbox mine with a different cool looking OS.

Can I have it stop or pause after playing one song?
Amazing review. How is it compared to mechen m30, sound quality wise?

hi can this play music without headphones like an inbuilt speaker?
Is it possible to have different maps for different kind of music and separate maps for different audiobooks?
yes - can modify your file structure the way you want
what cable to use for charging? the same cable as to charge a cell phone?
Any USB-C cable will work. It comes with one in the box.
Is there any way to turn the device off whilst listening in order to save on battery?
Yes
Do you mean turn off the screen? Absolutely. It has a timeout timer and you can also turn off screen by tapping power button.
i got 1 since one year, istall rockbox on it correct the library sinchronisation defect.

Yes.
Only better since it has native FLAC support so you dont have to install rockbox and mod it out.
Yea the ipod would be more for the nostalgia of it. The audio quality doesn’t compare to something like this.
Best headphones for these under 100 dollars?
I use Kz zs10 pro. They are an IEM but, work very well.

If this HiFi Walker H2 is a ten, I'd give the Surfans F20 a seven. In my opinion the H2 sound quality is better.
@@NotExpatJoe thats strange others says surfans better

Looks like your battery is bulging and pushing out the back plate.
No it's not.
