I have been very impressed with this cart and how well its held up. I have some tool cart hacks/mods on mine that I haven't seen on other tool cart videos.
Its funny, because for years since I build my work shop I've storage all my tools in a convential tool box. Only now has it dawned on me how useless it really is. Its basically just a storage cabinet. No matter what your doing, you end up having to go back to it constantly. This makes soo much more sense!
Dale Lucid had left a trail of Reeses Pieces at his channel. I followed the trail as I ate each one, and found myself at your channel. The magnetic bar on the side tray is a great idea! Then that back tray for additional workspace is fantastic! You really max out the options on that cart to make it a great shop asset.
Dale is an awesome guy and I appreciate his support. He has years of experience and found a great place to share his ideas, tutorials, and "how to's". Thank you for making my night brother!
I have same cart it’s great I added a 89 dollar three drawer craftsman middle box under the four drawer part and now have 3 more drawers on cart. The drawers aren’t huge but helped free up space in the actual cart drawers.
Looking good! I like the foldable shelves. That does make it way easier to have some flat space right there where you’re working. Great mods for a daily driver.
Thank you brother. I've always just placed everything in with the sockets and it just becomes a mess. It's one of those things that you don't know you need until you have it...lol
Nice cart Jeff. I went with the cheapest harbor freight cart to use for work but regret it now. I paid $120 for it but was refunded like $27. The better model has many drawers and more space but was twice the price so I cheaper out. I am going to have to upgrade at some point because I don't have the space I need. A coworker actually gave me a side tray. It's a Bluepoint, magnetic, and has 3 spray paint can sized holes as well as many smaller screwdriver sized holes. I'm welding together a side table to mount to it to hold a large vise, but not sure if it will be too side heavy or not. Tool carts are really handy to have. I like that Husky one a lot. Appreciate you sharing Jeff, take care and have a good rest of your day.
@@jeffparker360thanks for sharing. Can I ask how much weight the original shelf can hold. I cannot find anything on those specs? Also do you have a link to where I can buy the extra shelf you installed on the back? Thank you
@@AngelaD-nu7tp I don’t know how much weight it can hold other than I’ve had at least 25 lbs on it. Harbor Freight is who sells this one and they have a website you can order from
@@jeffparker360 harbor freight sells the shelf that is on the back of your husky cabinet? Yea the reason I ask how much weight the side shelf that husky put on that cart is so I can see if I can sit a 5 gallon bucket on it for car detailing. I will have 2-3 gallons of water in it and the bucket I will have is called the Lake Country 4000 polishing pad washer. It requires me to press down slightly on the top plate of the bucket when pressing the machine down so the pad cleans against the top of the washer.
@@AngelaD-nu7tp yup, both are harbor freight shelves. I’m guessing you’re talking about 40 lbs give or take. That might still be in the realm of possibility.
@@jeffparker360 I have to wheel mine from my shed to the driveway (through the yard) - so I put on some bigger tires and used magnets to keep the folding shelves from banging over the bumps. I also used some of the magnets under my socket trays to keep them from being a mess by the time I get to the driveway
@Jeff Parker I see that there is a place on your Husky power tool hanger for adapters etc. I'm guessing that you put those there. I think that is brilliant. The magnetic tool holder on the tray is too. Well Done.
It looks exactly like the US General 4 drawer cart. It even goes together similarly. I just bought one for 160 with a coupon. I don’t have it loaded up yet but I did buy the side shelf.
Awesome tool box i have the same box. Where did u get your swivel caster and rear and side tray. Thankyou for sharing im looking for ways to be more organized at work and this helps
Thank you! The swivel casters I switched from my center tool box since that one is stationary. The side trays are from harbor freight. This has been a great cart.
Does the husky tool cart have anything to keep drawers closed while moving around? Like initially do the drawer slides have some friction to over come when opening?
Awesome cart! Great mods. I was wondering where you got the tray for the aerosol cans? I knew from scanning the home depot website that they sold this husky cart with or without the aerosol can side tray. Sadly my local home depot didnt have the model that came with the aerosol can side tray. So I had to settle for the cart minus the can tray. The price you pay for living on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
Thank you very much! I called the Husky customer service, the number was in the instruction booklet, and they sent me one. Give them a try, they ship world wide. Best of luck!
I just noticed the cart that Home Depot here in Canada sells does not come with the aerosol can tray...that is a important feature...thanks for noticing that?
I took them from my Husky tool box. The casters mounting plate from harbor freight was too big. They couldn’t match up without some work. So I just went that route
It’s been a great cart. I attached it using the bolts that line up with the holes on the tray. I did have to open the holes a little to get them to line up perfectly. But not hard. The tray comes with the model that comes with the side tray. Call customer service and check to see if you can purchase it separately.
Jeff, I purchased the same cart you have, and I want to replace the fixed casters with swivel casters. Where did you get the swivel casters? Did you replace two, or all four casters on the cart?
Sorry I missed your comment. I took two swivel casters off of my 46 inch husky and switched them out. The harbor freight base plate won't fit in the channel of the cart without major surgery.
@@jeffparker360 I ended up buying two swivel casters from Menards, P/N 9012M. The mounting is identical to the ones included with the cart, but the width of the wheel is slightly smaller. Also the Menards caster is approximately 3/16 smaller in height. I used two flat washers on each mounting hole between the caster and bottom of cart to make it level.
What swivel wheels did you buy and from where? Could you possibly send me a link for ones that’ll fit this so replace the fixed wheels so it’ll have all 4 swivels?
@@jeffparker360 ah. This is my first cart just bought today and wanted all swivels but can’t find any that will work sadly:/ any of them I’ve found won’t hold the weight or that’ll be tiny wheels. I guess I could go with the 3inch wheels but those only hold roughly 300 lbs but that honestly should be fine
Hopefully you'll see this... Do you think this could hold up for professional use? It's either this price range (Husky or HF) or carts pushing a grand in price, and I can't afford that sorta dough!
Both hold up fine in professional environments. There are a lot of videos that show it. But, the limitations of the slides and casters have to be considered.
Thank you! The silver balls are two cabinet door knobs I attached to a harbor freight magnet bar. I use it to hold down the husky drawer liner and anything else that needs to be held in place.
@@rhess10 the magnetic bar has a hole on on both ends. I attached the knob to the magnetic bar using a bolt and washer. The knob just makes it easier to pull the magnetic bar off of the metal shelf when ever I need to use it somewhere else, like hanging instructions, checklist, etc.
