Great video. Very helpful for someone about to receive their new car without a handover! They lied to you about Apple CarPlay though; we're still waiting for that.
Yes! No Android Auto or Apple Car Play. It absolutely misses any smartphone integration. Its an individuql smart tool you just use your phone to give internet access. (Recived or s90 on Monday.)
@@joespittle1 Nope exclusive to the completely "2022" models, there is new hardware in em, we will not be able to upgrade unless yu change the whole computer

Yes (confirmed by Volvo internal documents) but it will be later this year before it will be functional. The system updates automatically. The infotainment system is incomplete, functions don't work, and updates are slow in coming. Android system in car does not know if you are talking to the car or phone. Volvo car app is worthless, no gps, charging help, users are not identified, does not change based on key used or google account on phone. FOR THE PRICE, VOLVO SHOULD BE EMBARRASED BY SELLING A CAR THIS INCOMPLETE !!!
Since I cannot afford a Tesla Model 3, I was willing to buy this Volvo because of these infotainment features, until I saw the price being even higher than the Tesla lol.
Volvo's new Google infotainment system sucks- I could see major recall pretty soon. My new 3 days old Volvo XC40 Recharge center console crashed, and stuck in loading screen for 2 hours. After that driver side map stopped displaying, and after that Lane Keep assist crashed, taking my car to dealer tomorrow- it's 60K car! It might be worst than Tesla Model 3.
Volvo XC90 2016 also had laggy performance as I remember. Then I read that it was updated later on. I can’t find any information about specs of the system. Why not just use Nvidia Tegra SoC or any other good SoC, Mercedes, uses Tegra system because its really powerful and good. Polestar uses. Intel Atom A3900 I dont know if its good. , The upcoming Polestar 3 will use Snapdragon that is good. Audi are going with Samsung Exynos Auto V9. I think more optimization is needed. I wish Apple could offer its new M1 chips for cars it would absolutely crush everything.
One thing I cant figure out how to do is, balance the speakers. I want to have more volume in the back and a bit less in the front, I had that on my Outback.
Hello! This update is also available for the gas version or its only for the recharge model? I’m interested on the Inscription model. Can we also download... Apple Music ? Or maybe... Netlfix? Thanks for your videos!
Do you know if 2020 Volvo Models will be able to receive the android update? The sensus system is fine, but would love to have the upgrade. I have 2020 T6 Inscription.. if that helps
I hate that it will only show one camera view at a time. Most modern cars will show the 360 view on one portion of the screen, with another view, like the back up camera, on the other part of the screen simultaneously
My feelings too. I do like that they now added a camera button on the Home Screen. Right now we have to swipe right and hit 360 camera when entering a parking space
Nice review but this makes no sense for Volvo. Why would you want to create a dependency on Google for a feature in a car that isn't a main feature of a car(Engine is the main feature). There is a reason other manufacturers continue to develop their own in-house infotainment systems. They don't want any dependencies on someone else down the chain. Rather, provide and interoperability link with the Android OS.
I just bought an XC40 P-8 Recharge and I've been trying to use the infotainment system. I plugged in my USB thumb drive with all my mp3s on it and it does NOT show up on the app screen where you say it does. Are you sure that's possible? This is huge for me. I wouldn't have bought car if I'd known I couldn't listen to my music. The Volvo salesman also told me I could play from the USB thumb drive. Can you edit the video or post another one actually demonstrating doing that?
@@MikesCarInfo No, that's not the T-8 Recharge infotainment system in that link. That shows regular USB ports in front and USB-C in back. The P-8 USB ports in front are the -C type only, like the ones in back that the manual says are only for charging. There is a little lightning icon next to them (in front), which suggests to me those are only for charging too. I think your video is misleading.
this is dope volvo ftw i wish they had the reliability of toyota or even honda ,they still are the best in europe i think but meh i'd go for toyota can't beat reliability
Google is being cautious in putting video apps and games in the system for safety purposes. They say those will come eventually as they work out the safest way to do so. Maybe you can only watch while in park, or something like that
I should have looked at the OS before ordering the new dar… Google assistant dies not understand me because in order to find the streets you have to speak in local language. Hate it. I hope I can connect my iPhone and use Siri and iPhone Tom Tom maps instead.
Well I don't know if this will help you - or someone - but if you find it easy enough to use Google Maps on your iPhone, and you are logged into your Google account in the car, when you hit Directions on the phone, the destination should very quickly show up in Google Maps in the car.
PHEV version. The singular most disappointing aspect of the charge system is it inability to set a charge timer either through the car or app. So unless you have a smart home charger people like me on an economy 7 tariff need to be nocturnal to benefit from off peak charging. Volvo UK offer no solution. A retrograde step from earlier models and spoiling my enjoyment of a brand new car!
Big… big step back…. Very desapointing system, less efficient, less options, and not really faster… in fact, when you change a profile (from one driver to another… it is way slower than the oldversion.
The infotainment system sucks! Im asking Volvo if the can quote me to remove it and replace it with anything else. Definitely shouldn’t be happening to a $60k car but it’s so inefficient and so bad.

It does not as of yet. They claim it will come in a later update but I am guessing it won’t as this is a deal Volvo made with Google.

Is it at all possible for this to be a software update on the 2021 R-Designs?
Not as far official is saying
Does this uses the 5G internet from your own cell or do you need to have another sim card on the car?
