This video brings back so many memories for me . Back in the late 70s I had a job working on a farm after school , the farmer bought an old td 18 , I believe it was an ex military dozer as it still had the heavy grill and light guard on the front . Some of the happiest days of my youth was helping to get the old gal working again .
It was mainly used for mole draining the fields .
Nice machine, looks like it had an easy life and was well maintained, The rear winches are rare to see. Sounds good. We had one for loging and land clearing back in the 1970s.
No worries guys, we're all engineers. It's fixed, and if it ain't, we'll fix it till it is!
Congratulations GOOD WORK please dont shut off the engine in gasoline cicle is dangereus cracks in the heads stop the engine in diesel idling after 3 minutes and never cracks the heads
WOW! No smoke sounds good, this is a must restore for sure.
Agreed!!
The diesels were made to smoke
Those dozers will run so long as you have compression in the cylinder.
Looks great. Nice work.
The racks are a little too tight though....
these guys look like Jail birds ready to go pick up trash on the highway with their nice bright Jump suits.
Wayne Rainey if thats in Australia safety is a big thing unions are right on to it
It’s an engineering college in the uk, they get given them overalls I dare say for free
Where did you find all those employees. Ive been waiting over 6 months to have a front end rebuilt on a Massey 1260 here in New England.
You need som conveyer belting for your floor
le consulto, ¿Por qué siempre gira sobre la misma oruga?, siempre gira hacia el mismo lado
Probably steering clutch is frozen rusted
Just enjoy history

To bad u dont have a good load to help seat the rings
Where did you find the distributor and the points and all of the parts that are inside the distributor? can you email me this info. I have the same machine. I cannot no spark to the plugs.
Hi Davis, I am one of the lecturers involved in the rebuild, we were really lucky to have all the parts with it when we acquired the machine. Spark is supplied by a magneto on this and the later ones I believe had coil and distributor ignition from a battery.
There are lots of parts available especially in the USA but not so much here in the UK. Not sure where parts for distributor type ignition can be obtained but do have contacts for magneto parts if that's what you are running.
What are those two spinning things in the back?
That is a cable controlled unit that operates equipment such as pull type scrapers and bulldozer blades.
Warp drives
The spinning things are the steering clutches. They only turn if the tracks are.
Cable to lift a blade or run a scraper
Near but tracks much too tight
Omg put the phones down
those tracks have not worked too hard .
Just what I was thinking.... The undercarriage is in excellent shape for a dozer of that age.
Gotta be Brits.
What makes you say that?
