Ran into Bam last week in Sarasota Fl. A few days before I met him my house was destroyed by Hurricane Ian and I had no where to go. My work set my family up with a hotel room to make sure we had a place to sleep. I was feeling real down and ready to hit the bar when I saw Bam in the lobby. We talked for a few minutes and took a pic together. I haven’t smiled in a couple days at that point but he made me smile and cheered me up. Long story short, because that chance encounter, I didn’t go to the bar. If he is trying to better himself than I shouldn’t give up when I’m at my lowest. What probably meant nothing to Bam was a everything to me and he made a big difference. Thank you, Bam, for that. Stay strong, you got this.

@John Doughy sometimes I feel like there's nothing you can say to that person because they're not ready or they're just not going to do it you can say anything until you're fucking blue in the face it sucks and they'll get clean and dirty clean and dirty I'm still not 100% clean but I'm not doing heroin I'm not doing Fentanyl so every day I'm not doing that is it better day I'm also only drinking like maybe every 4 to 5 months and when I do I only drink like six beers before that I was drinking 30 beers every other day just to love to be hungover the next because I didn't want to do any drugs cuz I was sick I started to love being hungover that's messed up I never thought that I would be this sober now I control the alcohol I can actually pick up a beer and drink it and then I will have the urge to grab more but that urge will go away is it playing with fire no because they're sometimes I plan on like okay this is then how the night's going to go I'm going to drink six or seven beers and then I'm going to trip on some mushrooms and that's what I do and again I only do that maybe every 4 to 5 months I think moderation is very important if you can do that some people cannot do that if they have a drink or a beer they will drink every day again but something happened to me I don't know what something changed me I was working on my anger for like 5 years maybe that's what it was or just something switched and I was like no I'm not letting alcohol control me AA or na didn't work I didn't like the philosophy or some of the rules they had I like some of the ideas but I feel like people get addicted to that they need to go to a meeting they need to go to the meeting it just becomes their new addiction which I mean it's better than the alternative but I wouldn't want to have to depend on anything eventually except the medication for my panic attacks that unfortunately I think I'm going to be stuck with the rest of my life and I've came to terms with that unfortunately unless I can figure out not to have panic attacks but it wouldn't be caused by thoughts and I know I'm rambling on here but I could be having the best day ever not have a single thought in my head and then all of a sudden I feel like I'm dying it's weird then sometimes a thought can cause it but it's mostly just random most random thing ever and I think it's because I abused drugs that such a young age mainly ecstasy that screwed me up hard I mean I think that was probably the best drug I've ever did it made me truly love everyone it would make me love my enemy I never felt that before that much love for everything and everyone I mean obviously it was fake but it wasn't because the serotonin my body was getting released like crazy I fell in love with it then there was a point where two double Stacks wouldn't do shit so then I would take four that wouldn't do much then I started becoming dumb luckily somehow my brain kind of rewired itself because some people get stuck they call them etards and I was like that for a while still probably am in some ways anyways I got to shut up

An (ex-)friend of us stopt drinking after abusing whiskey and vodka for years (from morning till evening). Now she is sober thanks to therapy and proper medication and couldn't be happier for her more. But in the end she got really judgemental, verbally agressive and stuck up towards anyone who would drink a glass near her (cafés, weddings, terraces...). We never drank when she was with us. One day she insisted we all never drank again if we wanted to be friends with her. Mentally she was far from recovered of alcohol.

My Mom fortunately was in a rural area and nobody else was on the road. My Sister took out 3 other innocent people with a head on collision getting on to the freeway in the wrong direction a little out of town when it was dark out. It haunts me every SINGLE day, the lives she ruined because of this horrible disease. The end game of alcohol is DEATH. Steve-O is so level headed and I like how he didn’t accept Bam’s excuses. Steve-O also had what it took to overcome this god awful, godforsaken disease. My Mom went through the halfway houses, the whole nine. We tried interventions, we tried EVERYTHING. My sister also went through recovery centers. Nobody can make a person stop drinking unless the person has it in THEMSELVES and the strength to over come it. I truly hope Bam can tackle this head on and not find himself getting weak. One thing my Mom and Sister always pointed out, was, they couldn’t get away from alcohol. That's the AA mentality. If youre constantly making yourself a victim to your addiction, yeah, it's a constant battle. I don't consider myself an alcoholic unless I'm actively drinking. I hold onto my memories of those times in case I am ever tempted, but aside from that, I've only truly considered it once after the first month. The key isn't constantly thinking about it and fighting it. It's replacing it with better habits, living a better/healthier life, and doing things you love. Then you don't even think about it outside of knowing in your core that you never want to touch the stuff again.

No matter how long you are in rehab the real shit don’t hit the fan until you are free to make your own choices. That’s where the rubber meets the road. I hope Bam is able to make the right choices when that time comes. I have 9 years clean now and it took 11 rehabs and almost losing my wife and 6 kids for me to get a grip. Being diagnosed, switching meds, getting sober which in some cases detoxing can be life threatening, along with all other stuff is enough to leave a person a mess for a period until they start really leveling and sorting themselves out. But it all takes time. The neurological/chemical, psychological, and physical toll the process of getting sober takes can be enormous. For some people that's enough to relapse or take a lot of steps back or even give up. It's a life changing and extremely rewarding, but challenging process, especially in the early stages.

I struggled to watch this. I love Bam, I grew up watching all of them. It’s true when Steve-O says ‘it’s got to the point where it’s not funny anymore, it’s not cool, it’s just sad’. If you watch Steve-Os face, he looks like he’s genuinely worried about Bams answers. There’s a true sadness in Steve-Os eyes like he’s realising that he may way have to bury Bam. Bam seems to still be in the mindset of trying to entertain, trying to be funny, like that drunk person who’s gone too far. Bam at times seems like he doesn’t know exactly where he is or what’s going on, randomly going into stories that make no sense and Steve-O just looks sad. Bam saying things about being drunk and saying ‘I wasn’t that bad, I was in control or talking about jumping off a bridge or building and he doesn’t seem to take any accountability, says to me he’s still completely unaware. Prime example / Steve-O says about Bam needing the last year of treatment, Bam then makes a joke about his Dad being too fat to fit in cars and spending his money and not once did I hear Bam say ‘yes I had a problem’ and there sounded like there’s no accountability for his problems and he doesn’t seem to realise that 2005 is over. He seems frustrated that Steve-O keeps trying to push for him to stay sober which is also a sign he hasn’t accepted his problems. I genuinely wish Bam the very best but I fear the worst for him. He just does not seem like he’s taking any of this serious and I’d go as far as to say, he almost seems like he’s on something. Maybe pain meds or something else but seems like he’s taking something. I suppose it’s hard for Bam to keep hearing people bang on about staying sober that it can come across as condescending and degrading but he should know Steve-O genuinely knows how Bam is struggling and just wants to help his friend.

2 steps forward 1 step back .. it's a long road especially for someone like Bam who has more than 1 type of demon to battle. I feel hopeful because he has gotten a taste of what being sober is for the first time in probably 20 years. Hopefully that will give him the drive and motivation to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

    IMO:
Bam is still struggling with accountability and it breaks my heart. It seems his worth is tied to his glory days image here.
He can’t see is what his friends see in him and refuses to believe he is worth more. It may not be obvious but to me I see he is incredibly hard on himself. I don’t see the awakening yet. He has a long way to go. I hope I’m wrong. SteveO did a great job of redirecting and placing a mirror in front of Bam. And everyone was so sweet and gentle and supportive.

To a degree i agree, but a lot of his underlining issues are due to his parents and even to this day his parents act more like friends than parents.

I noticed that. I can't look inside his head, but just going off of what he says and how he acts, I'd say he still isn't very confident himself that he will stay sober. Everybody does drugs or alcohol for a different reason. I think if you don't fix or at least acknowledge the cause, your success rate will be very low. I'm going out on a limb here, but I bet he really, really misses his old life. That whole nostalgia thing can eat a person up.

The irony of him telling anecdotes about a roommate that says nothing is ever his fault when he’s clearly at fault is baffling. Like does Bam really lack that much self awareness that he can tell that story and ignore that he is also that person when he missed out on business meetings cuz he overslept or didn’t have a computer or barely missed a phone call cuz he got rear ended or he was blindsided by a drug or alcohol test when he avoided drinking for months but decided out of dumb luck the night before without knowing he’d be tested he would just have a wee sip of beer then can’t face the consequences etc etc etc. like how can one person be a part of so much chaos and unfortunate uncontrollable circumstances when so much is at stake when it comes to his sobriety and business opportunities?! It’s insane

My dad lost his fight with alcohol in 2020. He was also bipolar. It breaks my heart to see Bam going the same way 😢 he was never the same after Ryan Dunn’s death. I also lost my best friend in a car accident back in 2018 and can resonate with him. When someone that close to you dies man, it’s like you lose your soul. It’s so hard to come back from that. My thoughts are forever with Bam and I hope one day he can obtain self-awareness/self-reflection to change his ways, for his child’s sake mostly 💜
