This long wheel base sedan is powered by a 5,6 liter V8 fuel injected engine, connected for a smooth shifting four speed automatic transmission. This is a garage keep low mile sedan in excellent condition, The dash board and interior is like new, without any fading, cracks or wear, the original Becker radio is still in place and works good, air condition is nice and cold and all other switches works as designed. I have a black on black 1991 560sel. I wouldn’t sell it for any price. It drives like a dream. Makes me feel like a top shot executive every time I cruise around in it. This one is immaculate as well. Beautiful interior.

@pmerk36 The options you mention were not available or offered from the factory. They if offered would have been a dealer installed option. Like the chrome wheels, they were a super popular dealer installed option. Chrome wheels was never offered straight from the factory in West Germany.
@pmerk36 Yes I agree. Sorry for the confusion. But you have to remember that back in the 1980's that wasn't a thing. Name another car from that time period that had wooden shift knobs?? Manufacturers didn't start using wood on their shift knobs until the late 1990's if I'm not mistaken. Why it wasn't thought of sooner i don't know.

This has the dealer installed chrome wheels. So many of these 126's are missing the removal footrests so Mary Ann is absolutely right! Not a huge fan of the White exterior but the 1986-91 are some of the most beautiful cars to behold. Mercedes Benz will never build a car with this kind of quality again.

Buying a classic like this, 36 years old; very low miles, represents the loyalty, heart & soul the orig owner put in2 it. Recommending this to someone interested because they can rack up another 200,000+ miles would mean death to this car! This "original" beauty couldn't stand up to 20,000 miles/year driving, staying outside in full sun & weather with minimal maintenance, retaining her beauty for long. That buyer should be redirected to a 2-3 year old car!

These are definitely not million mile cars. That destination is reserved for the 123 diesels and the 300SD 1985 and earlier 126 diesels. And to get there you need to really maintain the car. Religious oil changes are a must. The car here in this video is a V8 and these can reach 300,000 miles if really well cared for.
If it has been properly cared for, no. It should average out to around $2000 to $2500 per year over say a ten year period. Big jobs come up front time to time but hey, an average of 2250 a year is just $208 a month. A tiny car payment. Big whoop!
I actually owned a 126. I know what I speak of. Take it or leave it and good luck.
Going to an actual dealer for a vintage Benz is insane. #1. Their mechanics are not as experienced with older cars because the guys who know those rides are now independent German mechanics with their own business. #2. You go to THOSE guys because they charge half as much. Why pay $2700 to $3000 for the timing chain to be replaced (a must on this car after 20 or so years) when the Independent will do it for $1200 to $1700? There is nothing the dealer will do better and everything they do, they will charge far more.
As far as wood or dash, etc. Store the car indoors or at least use a cover. Doing so will ensure those pieces last and do not crack. Places like Benzworld are your friend. Switches, knobs? You get them on eBay and fix them yourself. Many do. There are so many enthusiasts who wrench their own 126 that practically any fix has been explained in detail online. I myself fixed a problem for $45 that would have cost me many hundreds had I gone to a dealer. No thanks.
