Very entertaining blog between you and Charlie. I learn a lot from watching you and being an older rider is very inspiring. I'm 70 and ride every week. You expressed your disappointment with humour and great equanimity.
I’ve seen Simon coaching some of the grassroots eventers and he seems wonderful. It’s great to hear an experienced rider as yourself enjoy his instruction too. Also, there are SO many ways to get eliminated in eventing!
Ahhh that cock up was a god send - it’s always a risk on that ground and he is home safe and sound which is the most important ❤❤❤❤❤ I would send Trish into a meltdown with my elbows which have been described as ‘ a robot pushing a shopping trolley 🤣😳😩🙄xxxxx
OMG, the weather was hideous. I could the squelching :( Your dressage test looked lovely. You and Brody are a great team. I think you inadvertently did yourself a favour by-passing the boggy cross country. I love how supportive Charlie is -- he really says all the right things, doesn't he. Handsome and sense of humour too. You've at least got that to go home to and will live to fight another day. I find your vlogs and journey delightful. Thank you for sharing it with us :)
Justine, I think it is healthy to be able to analyse your own performance with the view to making positive change, after all you are naturally competitive and you want to absolutely be the best you can be. Great. But please be mindful that you don’t rag yourself so hard that you create your own tension and you lose the joys of having a wonderful horse, a wonderful family and a wonderful life. From the outside looking in you are clearly making huge improvements and it must be taken into account that you’ve gone up in class. You are working so hard and it honestly does show. The dressage arena was just pants. The weather was pants. You did good girl. Chin up and smile. ❤
Loving the goats! How cute x Dont worry about the show jumping it was terrible ground to start with. Great video all the same....what doesnt kill you makes you stronger and wiser........onwards and upwards...keep going. x
Brody wrapping fence two says it all about the footing. He normally clears the fences with daylight to spare. You two are megga! Charlie is always a hoot!😂 I look forward to viewing all your posts.
Did you hear the comment from the speaker?? She sounded impressed by your tight turn! 😅😅 So wet! Just mud everywhere! I think not being able to ride that cross country course was a good thing! 🙈🙈 You'll come back stronger next time!!! ❤❤ Live your vlogs!!!
The weather looked miserable and the ground was really wet. I enjoy watching you and Brody. It's great to see that a heavier hunter type can do the higher levels of eventing. As a major plus, you and your family are epic 🎉. Edited to add that jumping the wrong show jumping fence can happen even at the top levels of pure show jumping.
Hey Justine! Love your videos and your commentaries! Just a suggestion about the “left elbow” thing - you may be experiencing some weakness in your back and/or tummy muscles; thus compensating with your left shoulder/arm area for balance - I’ve experienced similar issues - something that helped tremendously was a back support brace (easily found on Amazon) that you just strapped around your back and tummy area with Velcro - use it while training - it not only supports your weaker areas, but helps you with keeping an even more balanced position while on your horse’s back… Sorry about Brody’s mess up - he’s an amazing horse 🐴 ❤
Oh Justine! Thank you for including Aria and I in your vlog, we didn’t have the best day of fence judging either, bloody wet weather! I was so thrilled for you when I saw your dressage score, but absolutely gutted for you in the showjumping. The important bit is that Brody doesn’t know and doesn’t care, he had a fun day and went home safe. The XC really wasn’t fun in those conditions. Looking forward to seeing you at another event soon xx
Love your honesty and sense of humour Justine! Think you’re too hard on yourself, but sounds like, given the weather it might have been a blessing in disguise. So good to see your menagerie in this vlog, and Charlie’s comments are always entertaining (your dressage piaffe 😂). Best of luck for your next outing.
I love your videos! And Charlie cracks me up! He is hilarious. Don’t beat yourself up too much, Justine! You’re a fantastic Rider and Billy Brody is amazing!❤❤😊
Charlie. You just have to love him. Soooo funny. Well Justine all you did was what we have all done at some point in our horsey life. Brush it off and kick on. Everybody is home and safe and able to go out and compete again. Charlie made some valid points I think; you have put the work in prior to the event, the ground conditions were clearly playing on your mind because you care about your horse. Your decision (!) to alter the showjumping course without permission was bold but in this instance it worked against you 😂. So the long and the short of this experience is, thank you for taking us with you and can’t wait to join you again. 😊
Thank you so much for sharing your riding journey! I so enjoy watching and I really love you and Charlie together! Brody is a fabulous horse and I can’t wait to see your progress!
Not doing cross country in those conditions may have been a blessing in disguise in my opinion. So many withdrawals and you not getting time to watch/learn the course - I don't know how you guys remember it all at the best of times. Take care and lovely vlog as always.
Bless your little goats, they make my heart so warm. I had pet goats a few years back ,and they’re the greatest pets. They used to have little wrestling matches with their horns, with my son. my son would hold their horns for as long as he could, and then run away as fast as he could . The goat would chase him .was really funny❤❤
I love laughing at your videos. You and Charlie have a wonderful relationship. No way would I have done cross country in that weather. Better to save Brody for another day.
Oh what a shame, I know you put a lot of time having extra lessons. The weather certainly didn't help and the conditions certainly didn't help! Better luck next time. PS you and Charlie crack me up. Love your quips at each other 😂❤
Oh Justine, so sorry about the SJ. However, I have to say it t minds me of my long distant competition dsys. Remember Iearning courses and going wrong was not unfamiliar to me! Also, I'm A Brit who's lived in the US for years, and I tune into your channel both for your awesome horsey content and the much missed British sarcastic humour. Love it all 😊
Love your blog 😁 Bert and Ernie are so cool Charlie and you are such a team Your dressage definitely deserved better marks And the jumps you did were lovely
My advice for when the weather conditions are so wet is to have lunch AND maybe a glass or two of an adult beverage 😂😂😂. Love your vlogs and Charlie’s commentary! Better luck next time out!
Oh Justine, you plonker 🫣🙈😅!! Oh well… sh*t happens!! Gutted for you. But the ‘couples debrief’ to close things off was an absolute delight of entertainment, TFS 🙌🏻🤣🤣🤣
Hi all ,yes you can hear the squelchey when you where warming up. The dressage looked good ,BUT sometimes you just have to MAKE the most OF the situation. Well done charley for all you do, sorry about the s.j.we all make mistakes. All the best for your next event. Take care and all the best. 😊😊😊👍👍👍👍
Loved this vlog! It's great that you're so open and honest about the highs and lows of eventing. In these moments it's best to laugh about it, otherwise you'd be crying!! (it was probably safer not to go xc anyway?!) xxx
Although its a shame to be Eliminated the ground did really look awful . Blessing in disguise in a way ,youre too precious to Charlie and your family and so is Brody , always another day Justine xx
Put it down to your menopausal brain Justine, bless you. I blame mine for everything 😂 Love your vlogs, love the chat between yourself and Charlie. Look forward to the next one!
I love how honest you are and the commentary is wonderful!!! Bummer about show jumping as I have done that same thing… UGH!!You guys are an amazing pair, onwards and upwards😁. Your vlogs are the best❤️
Finally catching up on all the vlogs! Just to say I’m in the wafty left elbow gang too so now I don’t feel so alone 😂 You’re an incredible team, and I learn so much from watching you so thank you for sharing and onwards and upwards 🙌🏻
Not to worry Justine, the dressage was lovely. Back in the Olden Days when I competed in PC Eventing teams,I missed out a SJ fence at Stoneleigh, despite Ruth McMullen shouting at me from the sidelines! Didn’t hear a thing! Team would have been placed.Mortifying! Great vlog.
Oh Justine please don’t be so hard on yourself. Things happen for a reason and someone above did not want you to run xc that day! I for one looking at that course was glad that you didn’t run, it was horrid and it got cancelled the next day. I have competed round Catton and it is beautiful so hopefully next time you do go you will have the most perfect run and the weather will be amazing for you x
Amazing if never have experienced taking the wrong jump.Once is really not such a put down in your stellar riding career! What a great mate Charlie is distracting you rather on the stuck muddy horse boxes being pulled out. Your eventing blogs cover life as humans with humor and the horses .What more can one want!
Happens to all of us and definitely a good time for it to happen with horrible going for the cross country! Well done for the dressage, I think that was brilliant considering the ground and all the rain, I'm sure you'll add more flash next time for even better marks :)
Not sure I'd have even tried jumping in the heavy rain, I know I wouldn't have been able to see where I was going, probably have been eliminated before the first fence!!! 😂
Your postmortem of the event was hilarious. You have my sympathy for the rain drenched conditions which obviously led to missing the fourth jump and your elinination. Better luck next time Justine. And to Charlie for not getting stuck andxsupportingbyou admirably.

I love Charlie's Mom she never misses an event. The footing was horrific and in the pouring rain. You Brits have to be ducks for goodness sakes over there. Anyways maybe its a blessing we didn't go cross country in all that mud. The dressage was fabulous and I guessed a 27.50. We live to fight another day. Charlie we need to get you to an event.
Love you two. 😅❤. Well it was an eventful event! I think it was possibly good you didn't go XC as the going was horrendous. I really feel for the organizers, all the course building, time, effort, and hard work. I guess that's an eventers life in the UK right now......maybe there should be a new water based discipline.....😅.
You are both such a fabulous pair - you and Charlie and you and Brody!! That line you took in the SJ was pretty impressive 😂 so sorry that you went all that way for such a disappointment. Dressage was great though! To be honest that XC would have been so wet, probably that you didn’t go! Oh and that comment from Charlie about raising money at the end cracked me up 😂😂
Oh how disappointing for you! It immediately reminded me of a timed obstacle trail class I was in where my horse was doing wonderfully well and then I lost my focus and completely ignored the last obstacle and raced to the finish line thinking I'd won. Argh! I really enjoy your videos and am looking forward to your next competition, I bet you and good boy Brody will triumph!
I'm sorry Justine, but fair to say, I'm glade you didn't do the cross country, looking at the ground I'm surprised there were no accidents! What's happened to your summer???? So I'm glade your home safe, you both are a amazing pair you and Brody. And just to mention on Charlie's comment about being in a car to do it, you would have got bogged in and had to be towed out!!!
Justine, I couldn't even remember where the start box was, much less the entire course. You and Brody looked amazing (much less collapsing that I saw), and that growth and development are what matter the most next to a safe horse and rider! Looking forward to your next video!
What you like Rodney you plonker 😂... personally I think it did you a favour as that course ground looked dicey and unpredictable... I'm terribly sad for the early morning start and all that effort, but honey here's to a safer drier day.... Loves Charlie's dry humour, no one likes turning out on a wet day and then it finishing like that, so it shows how much love he has for you ❤ .... can't wait for next vlog 🫣🤭🤣🥰🤣
Haha 😜 you guys are funny , I thought his test was pretty good considering the heavy rain & going , most horses will drop at the poll when working into the rain - to be expected. A positive in the show jumping- what a clever boy as a course builder pretty impressive haha 😝. I’m glad you didn't get to go XC no need for any confidence knockers when he’s going so well ., I’d take it as a positive- divine intervention 🤩
Those little goats are too cute. So disappointed for you, you were rocking and rolling up to that point. Weather looked diabolical. you'll smash it next time.
Well dang!! Been there jumping wrong fence!! Dressage was super! Love to see what you could do with prefect footing! interesting to hear your feedback from the lessons! Sure do hope for dry footing next time!!
I’ve literally done this because there was another fence directly in front of me and so I added in a fence. I ran everything right besides that, just threw that extra one in because it was one I would have had to cut around. Not a fun course but I guess that’s the point.
I’m quite pleased you didn’t run the xc. As a novice at novice the last thing you need is to over face him or upset him with awful ground. So I reckon it was a saving grace or a sub conscious elimination. Here’s to the ground drying up.
U 2 really r just cute 😊❤ I don't think there's any blame to place anywhere really, except on the weather, that had to have been in the back of your mind cuz good grief the volume of squelching hooves drowned out all other sound 😳🤣 as you always say, safety first 🥰
Great vlog. Was it your birthday..... hahahah! The only time (so far, but I am 50+ now so its going to happen again) I missed a fence out SJ, I was lying in 2nd place at MK3DE..... what a muppet I was! Best horse jumped a lovely clear too.
I just want to say that’s the first time I’ve seen a pond in a SJ arena! Did your bib number jinx you? 3-9? I’d go with that, or the ‘it was raining so hard my glasses were wet and I couldn’t see the numbers on the jumps’ excuse! Sorry about the horse box troubles. I think some folks within your horseie influencer circle might be able to advise you on how to get a sponsorship on a smaller horse box. It’s worth a try. At the end of the day, despite the wrong turn and clutch problems , you came home horse and rider safe. ❤
So sorry, but I have been eliminated for the same thing. I blame menopause 😅 I wanted to tell you that I competed today at EV85 and got 2nd ❤ Doesn’t sound like much but was on my homebred boy (18.2hh), who has been rather a challenge up until now. Also, my husband is terrified of my horse, and was my groom today 😂😂😂You inspire me so much Justine. There are no other vloggers out there of our age, so I love watching your videos. Billy Brody for Badminton 2025🎉
I think you dodged a bullet. The going really was to heavy going and a bit dangerous for you and your lovely horse. Good luck for your next event from Australia
oh my word, that ground looked awful! I would've hated for Brody to hurt himself or you on that cross-country course due to the ground, despite having done so much work; perhaps think of this as a dressage competition, instead of eventing? I love Charlie's input lol!
Love the video, you seem so fun.... LOL. If I may offer one thought, your heels are up most of the time and your posting off your toes... try posting off your heel, lowering your heel when you post up.
Oh no... ! A shame about the SJ. Maybe slight lack of concentration due to the atrocious weather and ground conditions being on your mind. Onwards to the next event. You and Brody are awesome! 😊
If show jumping in eventing comes more technically you'll have no issues. He was jumping so well. But like you said in a good way not going xc in those conditions was a good thing. On to the next one.
Very entertaining blog between you and Charlie.
I learn a lot from watching you and being an older rider is very inspiring. I'm 70 and ride every week. You expressed your disappointment with humour and great equanimity.
What horrendous weather!!! In all fairness 4s do look like 9s 😂. Love you guys. "Was it before or after lunch?" 😂😂😂
Morning!
I’ve seen Simon coaching some of the grassroots eventers and he seems wonderful. It’s great to hear an experienced rider as yourself enjoy his instruction too. Also, there are SO many ways to get eliminated in eventing!

This is brilliant👏 I had goats growing up and they are such characters, love all the other bits you include it really makes it🤩

Great video. You'll get it sorted. And what wet and boggy going. Well done.
A good laugh, but love your riding along with seeing the goats and Rodney.
lol...1..2..miss a few...who will notice....Opps!!?? love your vlogs, always so entertaining!

Who doesn't LOVE A COCK UP!!!!! 🤣 You showed up with a lot of effort in the shitty rain!!! I salute you!
I love laughing at your videos. You and Charlie have a wonderful relationship. No way would I have done cross country in that weather. Better to save Brody for another day.
Dressage looked great! That footing looks so, so awful; good on you both for plugging through it (to the wrong jump, whoops, but it looked good, lol).
Oh what a shame, I know you put a lot of time having extra lessons.
The weather certainly didn't help and the conditions certainly didn't help!
Better luck next time.
PS you and Charlie crack me up. Love your quips at each other 😂❤
Never mind Justine…you both came home safe and sound…there is always another day! Love watching your vlogs. ❤
Oh Justine, so sorry about the SJ. However, I have to say it t minds me of my long distant competition dsys. Remember Iearning courses and going wrong was not unfamiliar to me! Love your blog 😁
Bert and Ernie are so cool
Charlie and you are such a team
Your dressage definitely deserved better marks
And the jumps you did were lovely
My advice for when the weather conditions are so wet is to have lunch AND maybe a glass or two of an adult beverage 😂😂😂. Love your vlogs and Charlie’s commentary! Better luck next time out!
Oh Justine, you plonker 🫣🙈😅!!

Love your vlogs, love the chat between yourself and Charlie. Look forward to the next one!
Disappointing but maybe not a bad thing as it looked and sounded really wet, your both home safe and sound so onwards and upwards❤
Aweee Justine sorry you messed up I love watching you and Brody at events. Better luck next time. Tfs🤗🏇🤗
Enjoyed it as usual sorry it went wrong Brody looked great look forward to the next one xx
I enjoyed your video. I’m sorry it didn’t go as planned. Your husband has a great sense of humor.
I’m with Charlie, I would also sit there commentating the lorries getting stuck 😂
I love how honest you are and the commentary is wonderful!!! Bummer about show jumping as I have done that same thing… UGH!!You guys are an amazing pair, onwards and upwards😁. Your vlogs are the best❤️
Hard luck! But, the ground was awful so maybe a blessing in disguise? Next time you will slay it! ❤❤❤

The weather was awful, well done in the dressage x
You’re a nutter Justine. So bloody funny. I see it is still raining over there.😂
love you guys! keeping it real xx

Oh Justine…. Such a shame. But looking at that ground and how many withdrew, it was probably for the best 😱
Yuk at that weather! Only 8 finishers, wow 😮
Speaking from the tack room
thats wy ,theres always a first for EVRYTHING"
the showjumping, somebody else jumped fence 3 to fence 9 as well 😂 the ground was dreadful, we withdrew after dressage!
Today has been abandoned they should have done that yesterday it was hideous
Sorry about that. The ground looks awful. …..happens. Love your horse!
Me too
Woops😮
I just want to say that’s the first time I’ve seen a pond in a SJ arena! Did your bib number jinx you? 3-9? I’d go with that, or the ‘it was raining so hard my glasses were wet and I couldn’t see the numbers on the jumps’ excuse! Sorry about the horse box troubles. I think some folks within your horseie influencer circle might be able to advise you on how to get a sponsorship on a smaller horse box. It’s worth a try. At the end of the day, despite the wrong turn and clutch problems , you came home horse and rider safe. ❤
Justine, when you say "hello darling" you sound like Dame Edna.
😂😂
So sorry, but I have been eliminated for the same thing. I blame menopause 😅 I wanted to tell you that I competed today at EV85 and got 2nd ❤ Doesn’t sound like much but was on my homebred boy (18.2hh), who has been rather a challenge up until now. Also, my husband is terrified of my horse, and was my groom today 😂😂😂You inspire me so much Justine. There are no other vloggers out there of our age, so I love watching your videos. Billy Brody for Badminton 2025🎉
Oh that’s amazing well done you and on a homebred even more special x❤
I think you dodged a bullet. The going really was to heavy going and a bit dangerous for you and your lovely horse.
Good luck for your next event from Australia
❤ any chance for galloping top tips video?
oh my word, that ground looked awful!
