I just installed a Road Thunder Plus 300w on my 2014 Road King. Took off gas tank(easy) and seat ran wiring harness to battery and installed ignition wire with t-tap to the wire group going into the rear fender, I used the red/white wire to t-tap. Now it works on and off with ignition. Took a run on the highway at 70mph sounds good, looks good.
I have both the Wanderbar and Roadthunder. They both sound great, but in my honest opinion, the Roadthunder seemed louder to me on the highway. Also, the Wanderbar is bulkier and because it's heavier, it adds, to me, a significant amount of weight to my handlebars. I notice the difference in the weight when turning. If you like more streamlined, I'd go with the Roadthunder. Also, I do wish with the wiring kit would turn the Wanderbar off and on, but it doesn't; you still have to manually turn it on/off. As for the actual sound, it is better than the Roadthunder. Better lows, mids and highs on it, but the lows are not thumping (but what do you expect from small speakers).
My Road Thunder was OK on my Road King but only lasted 2 years & others have said the same, I just bought another for my Dyna but spent the $ for 4 year warranty. Pretty pricey for such a short life.
I love my road thunder but my speakers have a cracking sound I’ve had mine for a year an a half so love it you can hear it it’s a great buy but it doesn’t last long in my opinion loved it while it was working great
How do you add the Kuryakyn Speaker pods to the Road Thunder Sound Bar? More importantly, how do the pods get power and does this set up give the speakers a significant boost?
It might be good if anyone wants to start off with any of these sound bars try one of the wonder bars I’ve got the road thunder it’s great but doesn’t work but about 2 years before speakers go out or sounds like crap. Hopefully the wonder bar works longer
I have the road thunder speaker on my FXDC dyna and it’s awesome. Problem is, it’s just short of two years old and it just blown out of nowhere. For the price I feel they should have a longer life span for sure. Certainly a great product overall as far as sound quality but I see other comments mentioning a 2 year life span so it must be an issue.
I have a road thunder sound bar since Christmas. Worked great until I changed motorcycle battery. Comes on but will not connect with BT or wire. Need help. Who do you call?
If you use the WanderBar you will most likely be limited to mounting it in front/riders side of the handle bars vs in between the bars and fairing. With the Road Thunder you will have more flexibility.
Great video and info. Thanks. Question: I have 2011 Kawi Vulcan 1700 Classic with a removable windshield. I usually leave the windshield on most of the time. Which speaker do you recommend for this bike - as far as handlebar fit, the smaller WanderBar or the Road Thunder? I like the portability of the newer WanderBar but would hardwire it anyway. Thanks.
With stock bars on the Vulcan 1700 you shouldn't have a problem getting any of the speakers mounted properly. The gauge being on the tank gives you more flexibility, just take note of the speaker dimensions and ensure you'll have clearance for the windshield. They stay pretty tight with the bars on Vulcan models.
He there, I'm trying to hook up the road thunder on a 2017 BMW f800gs adventure, I have everything connected for a straight run from the battery. The unit won't power on. The only thing that keeps happening is when I disconnect either the positive wire and/or the ground and reconnect, every button on the soundbar lights up red for a brief moment then goes back to nothing...any insight?
I have a 2018 sportster XL883N and have 10” ape bars and have 4 boss rebel speakers on my crash bars can i hook those up with the road thunder speaker?
Put a road thunder on my 04 FLSTCI. After a road trip, I picked up a Bluetooth FLAC player running android and re-downloaded all my CD's in FLAC for better quality sound (2 days later). I can not get the RT to output sound with the FLAC player. I have paired it and I can change songs but no sound. The volume is up on both and I get squat. Please help!! I really want to love this thing and add some low end speakers to my bars but all I got is hate for now.
I got the road thunder and the speakers didn't last more than a year, (speakers) they were poorly glued and they don't get serviced or fixed thru kuryakyn, both speakers got blown in less than two years
Which do you recommend for an FXSB with the drag bars and Vance and Hines Big Radius 2, (no fairing or windshield obviously)? And if it's the Wanderbar, which size?
Nice comparison video. I have a FXLRS with 9.5” Thrashin riser, I moved my speedo and tacho on top of the handle bar, do you think I can install the sound system right onto the risers just below the handle bar? Thanks for your help
We do not offer a bluetooth controller, however, all of the controls that you'll need, including the volume controls, are built into the sound bars. You could also mount your phone to your bars and control your music from there!
@@KuryakynHoldingsLLC i have a cargo rack, in front of the ATV , THOUGHT ID BE ABLE MOUNT IT THERE .. THINNER BAR THEN THE HANDLE BAR , WOULD THAT BE PROBLEM ... DONT THINK I CAUGHT THE PRICE IN THE VIDEO ...
Your best bet on a thin cargo rack bar would be to use the motorcycle mount kit but you would need to create/buy some sort of 1/2" to 7/8" shim/conversion. i’m worried just bought wonderbar yesterday and just watch the reviews now-three lots of negative feedback/comments on both speakers! wonderbar couldn’t be heard at 70mph! even at 85 mph which this vid shows that it can. off course they can sugarcoat to promote these products! if i’m not happy when i get it…you should give my money back

You say that your stuff is expensive because it’s not cheap made, but all I can say is mine stopped working and your company has no tech support and makes the seller responsible for all warranties. My Bluetooth doesn’t work anymore, and MTX tech support does not have a high opinion of this product.
Don’t buy the Road Thunder soundbar. Piece of crap. Over 35mph can hardly hear it and I have a windshield. Over 50mph, forget it. Buy yourself a good quality BT headset. I can’t give it away. OVERATED PIECE OF CRAP

Greetings. Can I connect two Road Thunder bars to each other or do they only connect to amps/speaker pods?
so for a 80mph ride with no widshield, you recommend the Kuryakyn WanderBar?
I have a road thunder sound bar since Christmas. Worked great until I changed motorcycle battery. Comes on but will not connect with BT or wire. Need help. Who do you call?
Hey man I have the road thunder, can I conect the road thunder pods to it?
I’m doing a setup for my Dyna with a t-bar and fairing. Should I stick with the road thunder sound bar instead of the wanderbar?
If you use the WanderBar you will most likely be limited to mounting it in front/riders side of the handle bars vs in between the bars and fairing. With the Road Thunder you will have more flexibility.

Does the road thunder have any bass?
what camera do you have mounted to the forks?
I have RKP (FLHP) 2009 model, all stock. Looking at the Road Thunder for it, would you agree?
Could I run the road thunder off to my Lexin s3 with an aux cable? Because my speakers just aren't loud enough for me
Does the bar once it place can I take it off an does it keep a charge with out a cord

Is there a way I could install the Road Thunder on a Maxiscooter? (Own a 2018 SYM Citycom S 300i CBS).

Both should work! But with the WanderBar you will likely need to mount it without the included joints.
Is the wander bar good for the wander bar?
Wow..... Excellent...... Seems like this doesn't hook up to the 2022 Street Bob.
Can you load from the USB door of my bike without connecting it to the battery…?
Looking for something for the Rebel 1100T. I think the Road Thunder would fit. My Rebel better.
Is there any sort of bluetooth remote or a way to get volume controls on the bars with either of these speakers?

Redesign the mounting hardware for the road thunder plus. Both left and right side brackets have broken on mine in less than a year.
Very interested, i like to install on my ATV ....WHATS MY BEST CHOICE .
Tough to tell without knowing your handlebar setup! I would go with the WanderBar just because the mounts would be the most flexible for an ATV.

Same here. Mine would play for like a few minutes then the sound cuts out.
