i did sorta the same thing, but i did it with an erector set and tie wire.

It is cool, but it is not 90% of what a pedal steel can do. The lever on this lap steel only changes from the 1 to the 4 chord...which is the same as depressing both A and B pedals on a pedal steel simultaneity. However on pedal steel being able to individually press the pedals allows for minor chords, Sus chords, seventh chords, 9th chords, etc without moving the bar.

My two sense here....if the change could be split by having two levers instead of one, the chordal options would open up like crazy. The 3-4 interval on one lever, and the 5-6 interval change on another level with the ability to depress both easily.

@333jas I have a Gretsch lap steel with two palm Dusenberg palm levers. Works really well--and inexpensive-- but I'm not sure the best config so I can get 7th chords.
