    first time I've ever heard anyone say the Mini suspension is too soft.. most people bitch about them being too stiff.. you must enjoy driving around with suspension that never moves at all.

    I really like the look of this car but my concerns are the reliability

    Everyone I know that owned one had such a love hate relationship with their Mini. Awesome driving dynamics but a lot of mechanical issues. I think a stripped out caged race Mini has the FWD Nurburgring record right now

    Nice R56! I’d have you drive my R53 but I’m in Chicago. 260whp.
    You broke this car down damn fast and got it all correct! These are a lot more fun than most of the hatches. I agree it’s similar to the FiST but with a much better interior. The previous generation has a different steering system and is a lot more communicative. The supercharged R53 has a smoother less torquey power delivery. Shifters are vague in all the Minis I’ve driven. Weird that BMW as a company hasn’t got that right. Again, awesome review and it’s just amazing how on it you are. The channel has been great from the beginning and getting better and better.

      Well I actually do visit Chicago about once a year. Next time I'm there I'll take you up on that offer!

      Michael Cohen I have an r53 too. What have you done to your to achieve those numbers.

    • @mdcohen

      Ahmed Mendez thn power mods were done when I bought it. RMW big head, cams, injectors, pulley. Imho these cars don’t really want to be this fast. Torque steer for days.

    Come to Florida to drive my r53 with quaife lsd and many other track focused mods. Glad to see a mini on your channel again.

    Fwd - does mean fun! I’d never thought I’d own a suzuki Swift Sport. The more I drive her the more I love fwd. hope one day Americans can experience Suzuki. Anyways you are doing a great job on those reviews :)

      Another awesome car not offered in the US... Americans need to get with the times - hot hatches are perfect!

    For any other MINI owners out there, did you find the clutch something to get used too? The GP is my first manual transmission car and I feel like it's so hard to get my 1-2 shifts smooth and efficient

    • @rowdyrick7091
      @rowdyrick7091 6 років тому +1

      Evolq all mini are like that just like all manual bmws due to clutch valve

    Trouble with this year they cost a fortune to maintain timing chain in Australia 5000 clutch the same an problems are constant great to drive but always something to fix pain in the arse can't modified cause they send you broke maintaining the bastard my 2011 jcw has done 110000 an has had 20 grand spent on it but I do luv him but beware

    • @RusselNguyen
      @RusselNguyen 3 роки тому

      The 2011 JCW still ran under the N14, which is the biggest problem maker for the Mini platform. The 2011 S was the first year they introduced the N18, which mitigated many of (it not all) of the problems that the N14 suffered. The 2013 JCW and up is when they switched to the N18 as well

    I wish I lived near you dude. I would love for you to drive my 2016 STI. I want your opinion on the improvements Subaru has made to the 15+ year models with a tighter steering rack, beefier sway bars, stiffer chassis, redialed shock/spring rates etc.
    My car is essentially stock too besides a 24mm rear sway to match the 24mm stock front sway bar with the goal to induce a more neutral feeling.

    Today I saw an 2011 Mini Cooper s just like yours with 80k miles 1 owner and no lcd screen and also 6 speed transmission. Would it make sense to find one just like yours? The one I found guy is asking for $4500 it’s fully loaded with Harmon karmon audio 2 sun roofs. And also if I get this Mini could I swap out the big face speedometer for the lcd one?

    • @mdcohen
      @mdcohen 6 років тому

      devonne safi sounds like a good price but I’d get an inspection first. Check on northamericanmotoring.com for info about swapping the screen in.

    It looks and sounds great ! Is it a quick car!? I have been thinking about getting one

    • @Zygrene
      @Zygrene  5 років тому

      It's quick enough to enjoy on the street. Just make sure you research maintenance costs and reliability issues. Minis aren't exactly known for being bulletproof.

    Not the most inspiring video to watch, but all information is 100% spot on. The drive-by-wire throttle lag really is unacceptable, and the reliability is not great. That said, so much fun to drive, great handling and a lot of character. If you're prepared to dump some cash into mods and repairs (as I did), they can be phenomenal.

    Always liked the true mini coopers just can't trust British engineering for daily drivers haha

    • @jadonharper1493
      @jadonharper1493 7 років тому +1

      These mini engines are made by bmw so you dont trust german engineering?

    • @fondajames
      @fondajames 7 років тому

      Jadon Harper Japan > American > Swedish > German > italian > British. Pretty much how reliability statistics have gone for a decade or more

    • @jadonharper1493
      @jadonharper1493 7 років тому +1

      James Fonda American engineering is definitely not on par with German engineering. Sorry it’s just not true, Idk where you got that hierarchy from

    • @fondajames
      @fondajames 7 років тому

      Jadon Harper read it again -.- it's statistics of reliability and it comes from jd power, kelly blue book, Edmunds and auto reviewers seem to back that up a lot. Not one of those are equal, > means the thing to the right is worse than the left

    • @MotoMedicine904
      @MotoMedicine904 6 років тому

      Jadon Harper these motors are made by France actually. It's a shared motor with the Citroën DS3.
