I’m sure I was watching this game back when I was single living in Santa Barbara. Loved the National Lumber commercials with Shorty and Cheap Chicken. Lol
My favorite player growin up,too bad his body deteriorated so quickly or he woulda been in the HOF much earlier, cuz in the late 70s,early 80s was there a more feared hitter in the AMERICAN LEAGUE??
Yes, they definitely wasted a few quietly great clemens years. I remember one game where the sox got the first two guys on in the top of the first, and butch sac bunted the runners over.
@@mikegulliver4885 Hobson was a fool overall as a manager but the offense was so bad then, I wouldnt blame him for doing that. Hell when i was 7 years old a washed up Andre Dawson was the cleanup hitter, ugh.
And what a bunch of horrendous calls they made on close plays on the bases.. it's almost painful to watch without the instant replay, and even with the replays they manage to get them wrong too often. Palermo was trying to bait Grich into an ejection- Grich had stopped talking about 3 minutes before while Palermo was still jawing at him and shoving his finger in his face. Jesus- just shut up, and go back to the base and do your job. That said, he didn't deserve his fate.. so many lives in pro sports ruined by bullets.
The era in which I followed most red sox games.
Mostly on radio.
Rod Carew at age 37 hit over. 400 well into July 1983. Great hitter!

Manny Moe And Jack. For the right price they will sell you fuzzy dice.
Grew up an Angels fan in the Enberg Drysdale TV radio era. Barely remember Butitta Killebrew doing Halo broadcasts. Nice post!
Bruce Hurst was always one of my favorites back then

Also on WSBK-TV 38 in Boston.

this edition of the Bosox was one of their worst in the last 50 years. I know i lived it.
The sideshow with the 'coup leroux' deatroyed the season
Butch Hobson's early 90's teams would give them a run for their money.
@@mikegulliver4885 The Sox of the early 80's had offense but no pitching. The Sox of the early 90's had pitching but no offense, pick your poison

Killebrew (PBP) & Buttitta (C) 4-6
Is this from 7/14/83? Why are your dates wrong?
This is on 7/10/83 on Sunday and of the announcers verified it when they were promoting a TV show.
You are correct…I don’t know what I was looking at when I commented on this. 🤷🏽♂️
Ahh haa. Reggie. “Must kill the queen”... 🤣
LMAO
25:20...the tie does NOT go to the runner. I really hate that myth.

Yaz doubles!
Wow thats a sucktastic redsox lineup
1 HoF, 1 premier leadoff batter, 1 guy who SHOULD be in the HoF, and 1 who was a premier power hitting CF.
Hardly sucktastic.
