My memory of part 2 has melded into the first one, I remember thinking the CG creature work was really well done and...yeah. Only had to be one movie.
The cat was awesome. The cat appeared to understand the aliens better than the human characters... I was disappointed. Loved the 1st and second movies.
Having felt that part 2 was the exact same as part 1 but inferior, the change of background and characters was refreshing but still felt the same.
Great review. Could you recommend the best books about analyzing the films, to understand the meaning or allegory like that?

This series was always too confusing for me to want to catch up to figure out what was going on (back story)
there is no back story. Evil aliens invade, try to kill humans. It's about that simple. No need for back story at all in 'Day One."

I never even got the hype for the first movie, the first 2 movies are watchable, but I never had any interest to rewatch them. I'll probably watch this free on streaming down the road but I don't have any excitement for it.
I watch this i didn't see the first two , figured it wasvan orgin story, this movie sucked.
