The state was allocated $130M back in 2014/15 Not 2020. We’re going on 10 years of these people having the money and have yet to see a single drop of water reintroduced from the Mississippi River. It’s sad how slow progress is being made on this project. But that’s government for you. If a private company took this long to construct a project they would have lost the contract and been sued. What’s the hold up now? The area they plan on restoring is also a small pervert compared to what has died off. There’s tens of thousands of acres that are dead swamp that won’t be helped by this project unfortunately. They need to open the Mississippi River to the upper Amite River, also to Bayou Francois, and Blind River near Convent to flush out Grand Point too. There are multiple locations where the Mississippi once fed Maurepas Swamp. Just doing 1 at the southern most point isn’t really going to solve the problem.
I grew up swimming and fishing in this swamp and I would hate to see it die off. Thanks for putting a spotlight on the need to save it.

Did this project start yet and if no why. It really needs to be done before it's to late
The State hopes to start construction in 2022
