Atomos Shogun 7 - LUT Compare View Problem

- Lens There's a strange issue with the Atomos Shogun 7 when you use LUTs, and it can be confusing as to what the Shogun is actually showing you.
Although the Shogun 7 is discontinued (what a shame), this LUT comparison view MIGHT still affect other Atomos Products, so be sure to check.
Atomos??? Any solutions to this?
Other than the color not really being as accurate as they state, the Shogun 7 is a great recording device, I just can't always trust it for color.

I literally just bought a new one 5 minutes before finding this video. I have noticed this before on my Shogun Flame, which had me using my BlackMagic Assist more. Due to needing multicam switching I bought it. These things are too costly to have color related issues, since thats an integral part of the job. This sucks, if you need multicam switching this is the only game in town, I know the Ninja V switches but you can't record the individual feeds if im not mistaken. Atomos knows this monitor is prone to doing this, hence why they killed off the character in lieu of the Cast. Great video man, wish I had seen it earlier.

Yeah, the Shogun 7's 4-input switching feature was the REASON I bought this thing. Being able to record 4 individual inputs on one small device was great.
The only thing Atomos needs to do is simply ADD the ability (like the Blackmagic Video Assist now has) to "calibrate" the monitor by using a warmth-slider and a tint-slider. It CAN'T be that hard to implement, Blackmagic (and every other monitor on the market) gives us the ability to change the color of the monitor itself if needed.
Anyway, even my Ninja is a bit overly contrasty and warm.
Maybe it's Blackmagic from here-on-out......if ONLY they would put full-size SDI on their 5" Video Assist!!
But, I still use my Shogun, I just have to know it's very warm. shame.
couldn't agree more. Those colors are a bit of a turn off otherwise it does what I need it to do. Clients appreciate being able to see all the camera angles. I use mine with a wireless system, and there is a bit of audio lag so I need to sort that out . Happy filming in 2024.@@MarcusHutsell

I'm on the latest firmware, there doesn't seem to be any further updates from Atomos.
I am assuming it might be the Atomos Native that has a problem and probably not acurate, but have you tried the Xrite color calibration tool? it works flawlessly with atomos to fix colors.
Try it and see how the colors turn out.
Hi there. So, I do have an Xrite Color calibration tool and I got the version that I can use on non-computer monitors......but, as far as I know, I ALSO have to purchase the additional (quite expensive ~ $100) specialty USB cable to be able to calibrate an Atomos product?!?
I'm almost about to do that, buy that cable, but, every other non-atomos monitor I own I can use the scopes to calibrate (vectorscope, etc) and then I can go in and change the warmth and tint of the monitor to make it "look" proper to my eye and/or to match other monitors (knowing of course this won't affect the recorded image), but, hey, if Lilliput, Feelworld, and Blackmagic give us options to change the screen colors, why can't Atomos do that without the need for an Xrite Calibrator AND a specialty cable?!?
Aaaanyway, thanx for the tip.....gonna go search for that specialty cable now, I really enjoy my Shogun 7's ability to have (4) SDI inputs, I just used it this past week for JUST that purpose, it really saved the day.
@@MarcusHutsell for sure the shogun 7 is amazing, almost ended up getting one until I changed my mind last minute since I rarely do live events switching.
But also Atomos I think realise the mistakes they make and discontinue a lot of their stuff which is a bit worrying.
But hey go for it, I was able to calibrate my Shinobi 7 a year ago for better colors so I think the newer Atomos starting from the Ninjas and Shinobis do not require special cables, but ended up sellling the shinobi as well. I think I gave atomos a break until they figure out their stuff really well.
