I've got to give you a sub for sheer bravery!! At least you have age on your side and have many years of cursing and swearing ahead of you! I am 72 years of age and my time engaged in mortal combat with a motor car will one day come to a end! Never give up. Enjoy the experience and create the memories. Do it for yourself but also for future drivers, not yet born, who will thank you for saving a Stag for them to drive. Best of Luck

Great stuff, keep going, see yourself bombing up the road in the finished car. Reminds me a bit of my old house that I am working on. A simple re-pointing job turned out to be a brick replacement job, as when the mortar was ground out the bricks were falling off the wall wholesale, some only 10mm thick with wodges of cement to hold them on. Happy days, thanks for sharing.

This car’s rust is too extensive in my view; it’s never ending.

Those stags seem prone to it, I have a freind with one in a similar condition, it is basicly just in dry storage as the work required is so significant that his other cars always take preference.

For bounding with the car it’s mostly the strongest connection I’ve you’ve done all this work. Otherwise it’s too easy. This one is definitely saved by you. But of course a car with zero miles and no rust is also a holy grail. For me I have low mileage classics with no rust and I have used and restored classics. Love them both for different reasons. But the ones I’ve worked on the most (who aren’t the prettiest) are probably my favorite. Respect again for all the work you’ve done so far.

That’s very true! There’s so many quirks on my mgb that make the car what it is! Yeah it’s it’s a bit wonky but i did that in my garage with a few hammers and a set of axel stands! It’s getting there though once this sides done it’s onto the home stretch!

What a great job you are doing, your Stag will most likely be better than original and all the new panels just makes it a new start of an original Stag, in stead off the crusher!!!!. Keep it going and well done. All the best Bob

Actually it was worse than that , before they were even assembled . My mother used to work for pressed steel fisher back in the 70's . She was supposed to be working one of the presses , but often was employed to prepare the body shells for the line . She used to come back with stories of cars covered in rust , even the rollers . They were basically stored bare metal , so readily rusted .
