@@oldcop18 Thank you for your service! The old detective special is a beautiful and iconic piece! Would you mind telling me a little bit more about your 1974 gunfight?

I have one, the snubbie, 206, and also a Taurus 856...both great, Taurus $100 more..You two are SO lucky to be able to drive to a spot in the desert and shoot. Can't do that in Colorado, at least around Denver. AND good for you, cleaning up before you leave.
The missus and I just took our M200 to the range last week as we hadn't had her out for months. Ran Armscor 158 FMJ and Aguila 130 FMJ's out of her. The M200 is so accurate and a lot of fun to shoot! (The fireballs from the Aguila rounds were EPIC!) These platforms are a great value for the buck! Thank you for the great video, sir!
The .38 Special is a classic round, and if these revolvers hold up well at the range, they’d make a great affordable option for anyone looking to add a reliable wheelgun to their collection.
I got a new 206 spurless. When it arrived the action was jacked up. It would cycle OK empty but with snap caps or empty cases it would hang up. We sent it back immediately. After a few weeks we got it back repaired. I had a short range session of about 40 rounds and it now seems to function fine. Put some whiteout on the front sight which helps except for the steel plates painted white. I need to get some purple nail polish I guess.
I'm partial to fluorescent orange nail polish. It stands out really well, is easy to apply to the front sight, and it is durable. It is also always available if you have daughters.
I have a model 200 of this pistol, it’s my first revolver in the collection At some point couple years ago, I realized I had a thing for wheel guns and I didn’t own any, the thing that sold me on this pistol was that beautiful light and crisp, single action triggerpull. These revolvers are seriously undervalued, underappreciated, and dare I say underpriced for how they perform.
Good show guys, I just bought an M 206 a couple of weeks ago. Haven't shot it yet, but soon. Thank you Mix and Son, truly enjoy watching you 2 interact....
I was initially trained on a S&W model 15 .38+P combat masterpiece by LA County Sheriff wayyyy back in the day. An ultra reliable and accurate weapon. Since then I have owned several makes and models of .38/ .357. Including a very nicely blued Rossi 461 2" .357 and a couple of Ruger LCRs. If you are a first time buyer I would lean toward a new or used S&W, Ruger or Colt for the value and durability. But that said my Rossi is a S&W knock off made in Brazil (now discontinued) and just about as good for cheap money. What I have learned from owning off brands, and some new S&W and Colts too, is out of the box you are buying a mystery. It may arrive full of shipping grease and need disassembly, cleaning and a little polishing of the parts before it is ready for serious life saving. It may have come off the line perfect or far away from perfect. You just don't know until you use it. My Rossi went back to the factory twice with a nasty letter asking them to get it right. Now it is as reliable, accurate and smooth as any I have owned. A Ruger LCR .357 came out of the box with the timing slightly off and with an ejection tightness I did not like. It went back to Ruger. A day after they got it they sent me a completely new gun that has been perfect ever since. A warranty / service luxury I can say very few (talking about you Mossberg and Kahr) manufacturers can or will match.
I own both these revolvers. Definitely fun to shoot and reliable, and you sure can't beat the price! Thanks for another great video, guys. Stay safe, and keep 'em coming!
Had the spurless hammer model. It was my CCW for a couple of years. They're a bit roughly made and a percentage have QC issues, but most go bang when you need them to and RIA customer service is very good. I prefered the wood grips, but because the backstrap is not covered they used to tear up the web of my hand from recoil. I eventually gave mine to a friend who needed a gun.
The plastic grips no longer come with the model. Only the wood ones. I like the retro look of the wooden ones, but the plastic fits my hand much better.
Bought a Model 206 a few weeks ago for $299 new. The trigger was real gritty from the factory and the cylinder was binding up every 5-6 trigger pulls out of the box. Clean and heavily lubed it and then dry fired it about 100 times and the trigger issue was then fixed and the cylinder stopped binding up. Took it to the range and put 100 rounds through it with no problems. It came with wood grips installed but shipped with an extra set of rubber grips, but the extra set of rubber grips don't even fit. Definitely a cheap gun, but for the price it seems to be working fine after oiling it up quite a bit and breaking it in.
Not a surprise that Rock Island produces and sells some Rock Solid products at lower prices than the Big Boys. I have four firearms from Rock Island and all are solid, reliable and shoot very well. My favorite is a Rock Island 1911 9mm that is a Tack Driver.
My buddy has had the 206 for a couple years and picked up the 200 , last year. Both have run fine , a little gritty at first , but has smooyhed out . Always great seeing you two out together, your are great shots and have fun doing it . Thanks for taking us with you
Great video as always. Love a solid wheel gun. No to low frills. But they just work. I prefer the made in 🇺🇸 brands, don't mind paying a little more to support local companies. That said, they do good machining work over there, and it keeps costs down making wheel guns more affordable for the masses. Pretty solid colt detective special clone, at a way easier to afford price for most out there who need a trusty wheel gun! Hats off to you and Son for getting out and filming another great video for all of us to enjoy 🇺🇸👍👍
Rock Island makes good stuff for a good price. I've always had a soft spot for Colt-style revolvers because the first handgun I shot was an old Colt Cobra. I might have to pick up one of these.
I have bought of these revolvers and I love them both they were a great price and just as good as some of the more expensive guns I have. Glad to see your videos. Larry Smith from Oklahoma.
Got em both. I'd been watching a bunch of old black and white crime movies at the time and the M206 with the wood grips really reminded me a lot of what a lot of guys in the movies were packing so I picked it up just for the hell of it. Solid reliable little gun. Picked up the M200 not long after. They ain't fancy but they work and that price is hard to beat.
I picked up one M200 on Monday and put the first 50 rounds on Thursday. I bought this revolver just to have a .38 spl revolver and I really liked it. Now I will order the M206. Awesome videos guys!!!

Great review as always! And if I were on a strict budget and only had $300 to spend tops, I'd def consider a 206 - for home protection and carry, it would be a solid choice. I would also consider a Taurus G3C which is similarly priced.
I have both. Only problem is with the G3C. It won’t chamber HST 147 grain hp’s. Seems like the chamber is too short. Same rounds that stuck in it worked find in Ruger. All other ammo ran 100%. Also check each magazine for reliability as I did find some with issues. Good option there is SigP226 mags which work in that gun. They are smoother and more well made. Great deal with sale and rebate right now, coming in a $175.00. Can’t hardly beat that!
Love my 206,,still looking for a good replacement grip since the plastic grip that came with it didn't fit but I'll keep searching. You & your son always make great videos.
I traded my only 38 snubbie, a Taurus 856 Ultralite, for a nice muzzle loading rifle with a bunch of extras. That gives me three more weeks of hunting. I miss the Taurus more than I thought I would. I carried it frequently instead of a micro-nine. I may pick up one of those 206's. I bet my holsters and speed loaders will work with it. If I get another Taurus it will be the 327 Federal.
I, too, prefer the rubber grips on my 206. Couple years ago had some bad "remanufactuered" ammo that destreoyed my SW Bodyguard snubby, but not the 206 as both had bullets stuck in barrel. 206 was fine but had to get superb service from S&W to repair the Bodyguard. My only complaint about the 206 is the weight. Otherwise it shoots very well. Probably would have preferred the 200. Appreciate the presentation. All the best! "The JJ" SW Penna.
I have the model 200. On earlier models several yrs back there were some issues with timing and even barrels canted weird. A buddy had one with issues but Armscor fixed it quickly. My 200 has been awesome. Did put some nice wood grips on it that makes it look sweet. I reload some wad cutters for mine and at 10 yards it shoots perfectly. Very pleased with this revolver

From a Ransom rest and remotely fired, of course. I bet it would whitstand more +P rounds than any user would care to shoot in real life from that particular gun.
Those are sweet revolvers. I have a Taurus snub nose 38 that I bought many years ago. The guy at the shop said it's a belly gun but after practicing a little it hits where I aim it. I can hit a 6 inch target every time at 30 feet. Now my North American Arms mini revolver is a belly gun. Great videos you guys make. P.S. Do you guys ever shoot flintlock rifles? They are a lot of fun.
had a 206 for 8 months now, had a problem with the cylinder not advancing (same chamber) sent it in got it back 3 weeks later been working good ever since.
My new 200 had the same problem. But RIA quickly took care of it. They paid all shipping cost and covered the repair. I had my revolver back in 2 weeks. Not only was it fixed, it now feels like it has a custom action job. Just great service !
There's just something about the 206 that I like. I like the finish although I'm not sure how durable it is. Seeing them both work way better than I expected just made this a fun video to watch. I actually just discovered your channel today so I'm binge watching. Thanks.
I love that RIA makes a very affordable and good revolver. Revolver prices are about as insane as pistol prices (if not worse). Glad to see a simple, reliable, accurate .38 can be had for around Hi-Point prices. I keep intending to pick one of these up (and will ... IF I can stop buying S&Ws for a minute, LOL). Seriously, though, if they ever make a light-weight model I'll be first in line.
I don't even care much about these particular models. I just came here to see my old friend.

There's just something about the 206 that I like. I like the finish although I'm not sure how durable it is. Seeing them both work way better than I expected just made this a fun video to watch. I actually just discovered your channel today so I'm binge watching. Thanks.
I have the r.i. 200 and really like the revolver. Hope you guys can do a review on the heritage roscoe. I think you will appreciate that gun.
We have been looking at doing a review of the Roscoe but I haven't been able to find one yet.
Great video these look like nice little revolvers!
