Funny problem is ness has truth of the universe, which is pretty much fate manipulation...so he canonically can't die until giygas is defeated, so basically if he dies, he sees it as just a bad dream (still cool concept tho)
the problem is undertale calls that SAVEing. There's a very real chance the SOUL overwrote Ness's ability to throw things off as a bad dream. Case in point, both the easter egg dialouge for dying without SAVEing and dying to Omega Flowey.
You could argue that SAVEing and Truth of the Universe are two completely different systems of power, meaning that while Ness is currently redoing this fight in another timeline, we’re dueling Paula in this timeline.

It's also funny because as a party member she had 20 HP as a boss over 10.000 tbh to keep it consistent i wouldnt have healed Kris from the concussion...yet And Made susie and Noelle hold back their attacks A LOT barely dealing 5 damage or so with a Critical hit because they are afraid to kill ness or Paula Also ness would heal 3 times he would have around 70 HP ( Kris would deal around 25 damage with a Critical hit) He would heal 60 HP every time making them still be a decent fight but more consistent ( Paula would have 40 HP in phase 1 but ness would always heal her lets Say they leveled up for the fight) once phase 2 starts Paula gets angry and determined increasing her HP
Interesting bit of information- in EarthBound, your crit rate is your Guts, divided by 500, with a minimum of 5%. Guts is capped at 255. Paula's so pissed off at you her Guts has somehow _broken_ that limit, because she's critting every single attack.
Plot Twist: the two wake up in Onett from the respawn and Ness has to go through the pain of reviving via paying the hospital bill. JUST LIKE IN REAL EARTHBOUND.

I love the Minor Detail of Susie's "Red Buster" Skill not being present during the first half of the fight, probably alluring to the fact that Susie doesn't want to fight, and will reject the power your SOUL gives her to manifest into said attack, kind of odd it reappears in the Second Phase, though, does Susie just STOP fucking around now that Paula's not holding Back or was Kris (the Player) Overconfident in themselves during the fight, and finally lock-in when Paula Steps-Up (which could also explain X-Slash)

When I skipped to find ness dead I almost cried since I actually really love EarthBound and actually finding a version of ness bleeding is actually emotional to me. -Says the one who can read a very sad story and not cry.
If you meet the spare conditions for these two, then hit Ness, he will be killed instantly, skipping phase 1. Also, if you target Paula, Ness will get in front of her and take the hit instead.
I just realized something. In phase 2, Susie and Noelle's eyes are covered, if they look like they look angry.. don't try to get them to do moves, since they wont listen, heck if you even try to use rude buster, susie uses it on kris instead.
Anyone think this fight came a bit too early in the game? IDK, going from killing an evil manipulative flower to two children who were trying to defend themselves just seems like too big of an abrupt shift.
To play devil's advocate, Kris and the others were just going to leave. Paula and Ness attacked THEM, trying to be the heroes. I'm not really sure you could call that "defending themselves" if they were being the aggressor.
I think it was too early too, but not because we're fighting some kids, BUT BECAUSE THOSE KIDS ARE OVERPOWERED AF AND THE RIDICULOUS EXPERIENCE THAT YOU CAN GET FROM ALL THIS ENEMIES ON THE SECTION.

Honestly, if there's one thing I can criticize Deltatraveler for, it's that not only does Susie not stop Kris during a Genocide run, she actively participates in it, which is wildly out of character for her
I don’t think that is true. When you are close to kill Paula and orders Susie to use Rude or Red Buster, she can disobey you and sometimes she can hit you. While she does participate in this route with you, she tries to stop you, making her not wildly out of her character. But that is just my opinion.
well, there are multiple times she tries to stop you even in the ruins, but the most direct of which is the coil snake incident. the way sans describes love is that its easier to get the more you have since you distance yourself from your foes. even at the end of section 2 susie describes the feeling as "numbing" showing she has distanced herself. she even uses her last shards of willpower to hit kris and disobey using red buster during the fight with paula. id say its very in character and ties with the lore well
im pretty sure it works like kris's situation extends to them by proxy so they're pretty much forced to do what you want them to. they're only able to refuse rarely, much in the same way how kris can refuse to say certain dialogue choices you pick.
The original game explains that when your LOVE rises, you obtain more will to kill, so that can be the reason susie is so indifferent regarding killing Ness and Paula
I think phase 2's music would be suited for a sans fight but its still good put in place for paula. paulas rage and hatred for you after killing ness fits it somewhat

Makes sense for those moves to be used since Paula can use Fire attacks and lightning attacks. Weird that she uses PK Starstorm even though she cant learn it in earthbound.

I recommend having two skip sandwiches in battle, their use lasts until the second phase and it is easier to dodge attacks (use them in the first phase)

Regardless of the point about this likely being ness and paula at the start of Earthbound is true or not, it's a moot point when you're forgetting about the unseen factor here.. the player. Sure, post-game ness and paula would beat kris, susie and noelle with ease under normal circumstances, but these aren't normal circumstances. After all, this isn't a party of three.. it's a party of four. We're here too after all.. and defeating 'us' would be difficult, if not impossible..
@@goldendice3059 even with the player's help i don't really know, Ness and the rest can dodge from light based attacks to even be able to tank attacks from multidimensional beings and even hurt said beings, they are able to heal, teleport, and we can't forget that they also can receive help from the player, who was the main factor in Earthbound that made them able to defeat Gygas.
@@Raincloud5137 That's true, but in this particular scenario, we're controlling Kris and co., meaning that in Deltatraveler, Ness and Paula would be without the player's support, and as you mentioned yourself, it was the player who was the key factor in Earthbound that made them capable of defeating Giygas. But this time, the player is on the other side of the conflict.. In short, without the player's support, there was only one way any clash between the two parties was going to end.. Ness and Paula were doomed to fail the moment they tried to attack.
Basically, the deltarune gang is experiencing this from their perspective. So what seems like little HP in earthbound might seem like a lot to them. They do have the unfair advantage of being able to dodge everything though so it cancels out.
This fight is one of the most wild , A very curious detail is that if you try to kill Paula, Ness directly cures her so that this does not happen, winking at the fact that she is his friend and must protect her, Kris also seems to use another type As a weapon when facing Paula alone, since the X-SLASH is different from the bat that is used and it may be that this weapon is the same knife that hit the sans in section 3, it's like he'll get tired and have no choice but to use that weapon (also don't forget that when he fought alongside Noelle while Susie was gone everything felt stagnant and he had no choice but to fight Closely.
The very life force of Earthbound is going all or nothing to attempt to protect its last chance at survival. Ness already started the quest, so if Paula could find Jeff and Poo, her prayer ability could stop Giygas, but without her, there’s no hope. It’s a world attacking like a cornered animal, simply trying to ensure it survives.

The only thing I dislike about this fight (and the whole genocide route) is how the the characters refuse to attack. It’s cool and all, but it really fucks you over.
I played the boss fight twice and won both times. Now I have a reserved save file so in case I want to do it again without going through kill I can just spawn back before this encounter. Diabolical? Yes it is.
Ya know after finding out about this fangame i wanted to do my own research (Read only if you wish to, scroll to the bottom if you dont wanna read this) Lighteners and undertale in general to my understanding have determination and saves. Saves are based off determination, and well, basically the formula is determination/determination, compare the two values = winner. Now porky/pokey from my understanding told the not-so-fun gang that their dimension hopping has messed w shit, so ima say yes, thats true, but not in the way youd expect Now lets take earthbound, aka our lovable characters ness and paula Lets say hypothetically ness and paulas stuff was scrambled (because for some ungodly reason paula has pk starstorm either alpha or omega, i cant tell cuz it uses deltarunes stuff) and ness is now the support character, paula somehow knows the following, pk fire alpha (makes sense), pk starstorm alpha/omega, pk thunder omega (since it hits multiple times), a frying pan attack that shoots fireballs (im not talking about the crit attack) and the quad attack and a…stacking blocks attack(maybe pk freeze alpha?)..Ness on the other hand…apparently only knows 2 moves, psi magnet alpha, and hitting a baseball, fitting for his character but he never does it. Unlike paula, ness doesnt attack when he dies. (Editors note: reason i bring this up is because ness can never learn psi magnet, not in earthbound. And the one attack i failed to mention, with orange and blue beams, i aint even gonna try and explain the implications of that one) In the ntr gangs case (im calling it that now since in deltatraveler you cuck other worlds), this is a win, since every move is dodgeable, and once they go down, they are out, so ntr gang wins because of player. If we played by the respective worlds rules, aka earthbounds rules, ness would have psi lifeup alpha, psi healing alpha, shield alpha, psi hypnosis alpha and psi paralysis alpha and we will throw in pk flash alpha, to stay inline with the fight (im being generious because ill say that he didnt get the xp from the second sanctuary boss), even though the ‘roadblock’ song has giant step and lilliput steps..so we will say he didnt get the xp also from carpainter. Paula should realistically be level 1, having pk freeze alpha and thats it, since paula starts at level 1 once you free her from the cell. Lets say for the fight however since she knows pk fire, meaning she would have to be level 8, meaning for ness if he was realistically level 18,because he needs to be to know pk flash, he would have gone up a few levels, atleast 20, not amazingly strong, but he would know psi lifeup beta by the time he faces the ntr gang with paula, they would also have the teddybear, an item that acts as a party member that can take 200 damage total for a fight, and will be ko’d after that for said fight. What im saying is that hypothetically speaking, paula would be the first to be taken out, and horn of life isnt even avaliable, known to the player and ness & gang until saturn valley. Knowing the ntr gangs max hp (during the fight kris has 64, susie has 85, and noelle has 64), 1 or 2 psi rockin would instantly take them out, as enemies can only avoid attacks when they are faster, significantly faster as well. So by default, a level 20 ness would wipe the floor with the ntr gang, no sweat, even if he didnt ko them with one psi rockin, their total damage he could heal due to the scrolling hp, and also he could just…throw out another psi rockin. Ness and paula would win by just…existing. Tl;dr, Ness and gang win if earthbound rules stay the same, ntr gang wins if they scramble the universe/have a player controlling them. even if they had the determination, they need the command from a player. Sidenote: as much as i love the song that plays against ness and paula, no matter how you slice it, your still killing kids and leaving corpses behind, and yes, giygas would technically win since atleast in buzzbound (a hypothetical ‘bad ending’ to earthbound where giygas takes over, and buzz buzz is the only one alive, and a much older poo), buzz buzz is canonically dead in this universe thanks to lardnas fat ass😐, so ntr gang cucks over a world with other humans, just because kris couldnt control his inner voices in his head so he just went to bash 2 children in their heads
Hasn't anyone realized how Paula cannot be spared after defeating Ness (it would be more messed up and unhinged if sparing her in phase 2 was possible, but it could be like in section 3 if you spare Dogamy after defeating Dogaressa, there was a "secret" sequence that would lead to a "secret" Game Over screen)? And the "Gallery" theme doesn't play, because the main characters aren't about to fight a strong villain, they're very reluctantly about to fight _actual heroes_ (if anything, the "Gallery" theme would likely play from Ness' and Paula's perspective).
I like to think that in this fight, paula meanwhile attacks start spamming "pray", giving him acces to "pk starstorm" and things like this, until the last moment, who play dead until we leave Then, whit all his strength, pray for reviving all the one's that we killed... What? I like happy endings
God this is so much more messed up then I thought at first, imagine being a (insert their age here) year old and having to witness your friend being mercilessly killed by another human child, a purple lizard, and a deer. I'm honestly confused on why the hell Kris wouldn't yank out their soul at this point, I feel like he isn't so evil to the point of literally killing two kids.

To play devil's advocate, Kris and the others were just going to leave. Paula and Ness attacked THEM, trying to be the heroes. I'm not really sure you could call that "defending themselves" if they were being the aggressor.
I think it was too early too, but not because we're fighting some kids, BUT BECAUSE THOSE KIDS ARE OVERPOWERED AF AND THE RIDICULOUS EXPERIENCE THAT YOU CAN GET FROM ALL THIS ENEMIES ON THE SECTION.
Is it a guaranteed loss to Paula if you do the betrayal method? Although, it's weird that it'd work, since Betrayal doing so much more damage is based on how Undertale monsters work. Anyway, neat video! Thanks for uploading!

Honestly, if there's one thing I can criticize Deltatraveler for, it's that not only does Susie not stop Kris during a Genocide run, she actively participates in it, which is wildly out of character for her
I don’t think that is true. When you are close to kill Paula and orders Susie to use Rude or Red Buster, she can disobey you and sometimes she can hit you. While she does participate in this route with you, she tries to stop you, making her not wildly out of her character. But that is just my opinion.
well, there are multiple times she tries to stop you even in the ruins, but the most direct of which is the coil snake incident. the way sans describes love is that its easier to get the more you have since you distance yourself from your foes. even at the end of section 2 susie describes the feeling as "numbing" showing she has distanced herself. she even uses her last shards of willpower to hit kris and disobey using red buster during the fight with paula. id say its very in character and ties with the lore well

im pretty sure it works like kris's situation extends to them by proxy so they're pretty much forced to do what you want them to. they're only able to refuse rarely, much in the same way how kris can refuse to say certain dialogue choices you pick.
The original game explains that when your LOVE rises, you obtain more will to kill, so that can be the reason susie is so indifferent regarding killing Ness and Paula
I think phase 2's music would be suited for a sans fight but its still good put in place for paula. paulas rage and hatred for you after killing ness fits it somewhat

I am just going to assume these are ness and paula at the beggining of the game, there is no way post-game paula and ness would lose to kris's gang.
Regardless of the point about this likely being ness and paula at the start of Earthbound is true or not, it's a moot point when you're forgetting about the unseen factor here.. the player.
Sure, post-game ness and paula would beat kris, susie and noelle with ease under normal circumstances, but these aren't normal circumstances. After all, this isn't a party of three.. it's a party of four. We're here too after all.. and defeating 'us' would be difficult, if not impossible..
@@goldendice3059 even with the player's help i don't really know, Ness and the rest can dodge from light based attacks to even be able to tank attacks from multidimensional beings and even hurt said beings, they are able to heal, teleport, and we can't forget that they also can receive help from the player, who was the main factor in Earthbound that made them able to defeat Gygas.
@@Raincloud5137 That's true, but in this particular scenario, we're controlling Kris and co., meaning that in Deltatraveler, Ness and Paula would be without the player's support, and as you mentioned yourself, it was the player who was the key factor in Earthbound that made them capable of defeating Giygas. But this time, the player is on the other side of the conflict..
In short, without the player's support, there was only one way any clash between the two parties was going to end.. Ness and Paula were doomed to fail the moment they tried to attack.
It is, quite literally, early-game Paula and Ness, hence why the others aren't there. You're fighting them near happy happy village
Considering it's just Ness and Paula, Jeff and Poo aren't here yet, it's at least before you recruit those two.

Basically, the deltarune gang is experiencing this from their perspective. So what seems like little HP in earthbound might seem like a lot to them.
They do have the unfair advantage of being able to dodge everything though so it cancels out.

This fight is one of the most wild , A very curious detail is that if you try to kill Paula, Ness directly cures her so that this does not happen, winking at the fact that she is his friend and must protect her, Kris also seems to use another type As a weapon when facing Paula alone, since the X-SLASH is different from the bat that is used and it may be that this weapon is the same knife that hit the sans in section 3, it's like he'll get tired and have no choice but to use that weapon (also don't forget that when he fought alongside Noelle while Susie was gone everything felt stagnant and he had no choice but to fight Closely.

The very life force of Earthbound is going all or nothing to attempt to protect its last chance at survival. Ness already started the quest, so if Paula could find Jeff and Poo, her prayer ability could stop Giygas, but without her, there’s no hope. It’s a world attacking like a cornered animal, simply trying to ensure it survives.

I done that route with kris only and the starting equipment only (I did have to reactivate Susie for napstablook so I wouldn't get softlocked and I deactivate Susie after)

True, Kris only has 64 HP. It would be very easy to kill them.
I mean, the power to save and load is something that Kris, or, more likely, US, has canonical control over. So, if Ness’s fate manipulation is also canon, it would be a stalemate.

The only thing I dislike about this fight (and the whole genocide route) is how the the characters refuse to attack. It’s cool and all, but it really fucks you over.

Lighteners and undertale in general to my understanding have determination and saves. Saves are based off determination, and well, basically the formula is determination/determination, compare the two values = winner.
Now porky/pokey from my understanding told the not-so-fun gang that their dimension hopping has messed w shit, so ima say yes, thats true, but not in the way youd expect
Now lets take earthbound, aka our lovable characters ness and paula
Lets say hypothetically ness and paulas stuff was scrambled (because for some ungodly reason paula has pk starstorm either alpha or omega, i cant tell cuz it uses deltarunes stuff) and ness is now the support character, paula somehow knows the following, pk fire alpha (makes sense), pk starstorm alpha/omega, pk thunder omega (since it hits multiple times), a frying pan attack that shoots fireballs (im not talking about the crit attack) and the quad attack and a…stacking blocks attack(maybe pk freeze alpha?)..Ness on the other hand…apparently only knows 2 moves, psi magnet alpha, and hitting a baseball, fitting for his character but he never does it. Unlike paula, ness doesnt attack when he dies.
(Editors note: reason i bring this up is because ness can never learn psi magnet, not in earthbound. And the one attack i failed to mention, with orange and blue beams, i aint even gonna try and explain the implications of that one)
In the ntr gangs case (im calling it that now since in deltatraveler you cuck other worlds), this is a win, since every move is dodgeable, and once they go down, they are out, so ntr gang wins because of player.
If we played by the respective worlds rules, aka earthbounds rules, ness would have psi lifeup alpha, psi healing alpha, shield alpha, psi hypnosis alpha and psi paralysis alpha and we will throw in pk flash alpha, to stay inline with the fight (im being generious because ill say that he didnt get the xp from the second sanctuary boss), even though the ‘roadblock’ song has giant step and lilliput steps..so we will say he didnt get the xp also from carpainter. Paula should realistically be level 1, having pk freeze alpha and thats it, since paula starts at level 1 once you free her from the cell. Lets say for the fight however since she knows pk fire, meaning she would have to be level 8, meaning for ness if he was realistically level 18,because he needs to be to know pk flash, he would have gone up a few levels, atleast 20, not amazingly strong, but he would know psi lifeup beta by the time he faces the ntr gang with paula, they would also have the teddybear, an item that acts as a party member that can take 200 damage total for a fight, and will be ko’d after that for said fight.
What im saying is that hypothetically speaking, paula would be the first to be taken out, and horn of life isnt even avaliable, known to the player and ness & gang until saturn valley. Knowing the ntr gangs max hp (during the fight kris has 64, susie has 85, and noelle has 64), 1 or 2 psi rockin would instantly take them out, as enemies can only avoid attacks when they are faster, significantly faster as well. So by default, a level 20 ness would wipe the floor with the ntr gang, no sweat, even if he didnt ko them with one psi rockin, their total damage he could heal due to the scrolling hp, and also he could just…throw out another psi rockin. Ness and paula would win by just…existing.
Tl;dr, Ness and gang win if earthbound rules stay the same, ntr gang wins if they scramble the universe/have a player controlling them. even if they had the determination, they need the command from a player.
Sidenote: as much as i love the song that plays against ness and paula, no matter how you slice it, your still killing kids and leaving corpses behind, and yes, giygas would technically win since atleast in buzzbound (a hypothetical ‘bad ending’ to earthbound where giygas takes over, and buzz buzz is the only one alive, and a much older poo), buzz buzz is canonically dead in this universe thanks to lardnas fat ass😐, so ntr gang cucks over a world with other humans, just because kris couldnt control his inner voices in his head so he just went to bash 2 children in their heads

Hasn't anyone realized how Paula cannot be spared after defeating Ness (it would be more messed up and unhinged if sparing her in phase 2 was possible, but it could be like in section 3 if you spare Dogamy after defeating Dogaressa, there was a "secret" sequence that would lead to a "secret" Game Over screen)?
And the "Gallery" theme doesn't play, because the main characters aren't about to fight a strong villain, they're very reluctantly about to fight _actual heroes_ (if anything, the "Gallery" theme would likely play from Ness' and Paula's perspective).

God this is so much more messed up then I thought at first, imagine being a (insert their age here) year old and having to witness your friend being mercilessly killed by another human child, a purple lizard, and a deer. I'm honestly confused on why the hell Kris wouldn't yank out their soul at this point, I feel like he isn't so evil to the point of literally killing two kids.
Tbh I feel like the three are starting to enjoy it because LOVE makes you evil and makes it easier for you to hurt and stuff
