A video of young Alec Steele is really inspiring. He talks all the time about how great a smith you are and knowing that you were his mentor, I truly believe it. Great job and keep up the great work.
the hammer you have I believe go's to a floor nailing machine, the rubber part is used to bump the tongue and groove flooring together, then the flatter part is used to strike the plunger on the top of the machine to drive and set the nail
wow great coincidence you posted this today,i had a question about flatters, have you ever seen a flatting hammer with a rubber back? my buddy has a hammer that has a "rubber mallet back end" that twists off.is this a smithing hammer? or for some other profession? either way thanks for the great vids
I have shown Brian and the YS but I am sorry they have not had time to do things other than forge. they are preparing for the conference, starting early and working very late. Thank you for your comment...Karen

Do you make those anvils/striking blocks, or buy them somewhere
I would love to use a rounding hammer but they are sooo expensive, if u get the time I would love to see a video on how to make one.

That's an odd anvil you're using. Any reason for it? Should I get one?
