Great content as always! It’s always very thorough, mixed in with some laughs. Thought the beach clip with the waves was soothing! Looking forward to the x vs y video). We love our Y and are getting ready for a small road trip soon! Keep up the great work! 🙌
I finally made my AlabamaSan Diego trip. Had a great time in San Diego and Tucson. Mostly stayed in cheaper hotels/motels, but will try harder to car-camp the next time. Did make it all the way from Tucson, AZ to Bessemer, AL in one 1600 mile, 33 hour jaunt (6:15 MST 2024-02-14 ==> ~14:00 CST 2024-02-15), with several naps. I didn't try to be efficient charging, as I liked the extra time to nap at the chargers. Next trip will be for the Eclipse in April.
Amen. Though I did it in one day the last time I crossed (Tucson -> Bessemer, AL in 33 hours, of which more than half was Texas, so I get you), on the plus side, most of the drive is pretty good, especially when traveling East (prevailing winds tend to be from the west, in my limited experience). Warning though, some of the businesses near some chargers close in the wee hours, which can be a pain if you need to wee while charging...
On his podcast, Kyle raised a good point that prevents him from promoting the EVject at this time. It does not have thermistors to detect a overheating event and cut off charging. The Tesla CCS adapter and all safe adaptors have these thermistors for safety. Otherwise we would not know that critical overheating was happening until the adapter melts sparking, an electrical fire, or arc. That might not happen on your first road trip but you don’t know what will happen with five years of constant use of this
As a further note you recently posted the video of the dangers of the overheating melted NEMA 14-50 outlet and how that almost killed you. That should make you twice as attentive to the dangers of overheating electrical components as this adaptor will ev pushing 500 amps, 10x more
@@BeardedTeslaGuy there’s no way for the supercharger to monitor the temperature inside the adaptor. if components are starting to melt and then the resistance of the line changes the supercharger will know but at that point it might be too little too late. That’s why every reputable adaptor has thermistors
@@Jeddin That is the testing they are doing with the production version. they have just recently made the first official batch of production ready adapters.
I now live in Wickenburg, AZ! Smiled when I saw you stop to charge there! Sorry things were closed, but it is a great authentic western town. Rodeo capital of the world! That stretch to Kingman is awesome right? Love the whole trip. I have a blue 202 model Y and love it. Charging at 50 amps in my garage is a snap!
dude! plug in before you start filming! it is stressing me out that you are recording for us and haven't even plugged in yet ! Very cool trip vlog!! Keep up the good work !
Haha I can’t help it. If I plugged in first it would show higher % at arrival and time would be off. I like to show you what is happening real time. Won’t hurt the car anymore than it already is by sitting for a couple minutes while I get it plugged in
It's a great place to be homeless! 75 degrees during day 50 degrees at night year round. If I was homeless I would move here too ha. Actually there's not that big of a homeless problem in Santa Barbara. I mean we have homeless people but it's not like LA or skid row or anything. Definitely a lot of vanlifers here tho!
Dang. Oh well, still a very informative road trip series. I’m ordering my MYLR next month and this helped strengthen my decision. I was thoroughly impressed by the A/C surviving all of those hours nonstop in such hot climates.
Great video! I’m actually getting a Model Y now just to road trip to Starbased. quick question. Do kept reviewing your Wh/Mi and sometimes you say good or bad. What’s a good wh/mi to avg? Also , do you have a long range?
I've been binge watching your videos for weeks now - I really enjoy them! Question: when you're on the highway are you using the Enhanced Autopilot or the FSD? Thanks.
You must have an awesome bladder without needing to leave the car to pee in the middle of the night, or even first thing in the morning! I envy that...

the EVject shouldve been made with an angle, so if you need to drive off, the charger can slip out instead of being ripped out. that way instead of replacing the whole device, maybe just the retention pin needs to be replaced
@@BeardedTeslaGuyalso fair. A lot of work to know applicable laws on an interstate road trip. Some people are also more passive by nature and don’t necessarily get their pride hurt by fleeing instead of fighting or at least being confrontational- even if the other party is in the wrong.

I cannot and will not *condone* destruction of property, but I cannot guarantee I would be able to stop myself like when someone brazenly ICEs charges like the "SWAT" 'people.' That unpleasantness out of the way, Defuniak Springs is one of the weirdest Superchargers (only v2, though) worth stopping at. There's ice cream nearby, AND a gym right next to it, so you can both indulge and get a couple rep sets in to work off the ice cream in way more time than it'll take you to charge. Also just assume some random weirdo on the other side of the bay is waving as you pass by on I-10. In all seriousness, hoping maybe next year I'll be able to swing doing a TTO trip to the west coast. I've been wanting to take a cross-country drive for literally over two decades, so why not do it in an EV?
I heard that Tesla road service doesn't respond in a timely way anymore, sometimes they can't even get to you same day. Just wondering what your plan is if you were to get a flat on these long road trips without a spare? Enjoyed the video.
I used FSD (not Beta), for nearly the entire trip. If I was on the highway, FSD was on. Phantom braking was so much better than last year in the same car.
@BeardedTeslaGuy ah ok. Would love to see a video on what items u use in between to stay fresh. Thinking of doing that 24hr drive from Florida also to see starship
Hearing more and more issues with late night charging? Respectfully i have heard of that as a concern of women but have not heard of many actual events.
I prefer Sig-Sauer 300 Blackout.. Not be forced to the flight only option. :) Zombies attack, zombies go down. 😎🥷. Part one was worth the time to watch. 1.75X seems like best speed. Watching this part two now. I bet will be same experience.
Just got finished watching Part 1. Glad to continue an impromptu Bearded Tesla Guy marathon day. :)
So glad to hear it! Was glad I was able to get both of these up a day apart for people to plow through both!
You’re living one of my dreams. At least someone is. 😊

I don’t worry about getting out of my car to unplug. I do see where it would be helpful for some unarmed people.
My wife doesn’t pack heat when she’s traveling and for those traveling across state lines, there’s more complexities involved
Fair.

If a person has no arms it would be difficult to unplug the car.
Leaving on coast to coast road trip next week. Wondering if a 1 month FSD subscription is worth it. Why or why not?
Worth it for sure just to have navigate on autopilot and lane changes without disengaging and re engaging autopilot
Does the plug adapter need to break? Can it have a strong magnetic connection that would disconnect?
it needs to break.
at 2006kWh and average 0.38$/kwh, around $760 for your total trip if pay out of pocket. pretty good.
Maybe .38 in California, but it’s much closer to .25 in the rest of the country, at least on this corridor
really? what i looked up, new mexico, texas pretty much all at .38c. unless you get discount for charge at night. @@BeardedTeslaGuy
