I Captured Every Color Combination in 1 Ball of Handspun Yarn with this Weaving Technique! 🌈

- With a handspun rainbow yarn, I'm weaving a full rainbow gradient shawl on my tri-loom. This was such a fun project! I'll take a break in the middle to rest my arms so I'll give you a peak at how my flax beds are growing. And as a fun bonus, watch to the end to find out about the day in the life of a Rainbow Yarn Influencer! Now that I've done continuous strand weaving with a rainbow, should I try a fractal spin next? What colors would you experiment with?

mumbling to myself that i DO NOT need to pick up weaving just because a gorgeous shawl caught my magpie brain
Best comment I’ve ever seen😂😂. The struggle is real my friend❤
Good luck lol that was me a. few months ago and then i bought a steal of a loom for 40bucks and i'm like WELP GOTTA ACTUALLY LEARN TO WEAVE NOW!
Weaving a rainbow in the rain is just spot on!
🌦️🌈🥰
You can't have a rainbow without rain.
You give off fun aunt vibes. Like the one aunt that actually knows what you like and makes great effort to make you feel special. It’s so comforting
Real 😭 I was like smiling through the whole thing bc she seems so nice and kind
This entire video is chaos and I love it so much. It's also awesome to see a rainbow weaving project for pride. Love it so much
Glad you liked it! 💜🌈
It turned out so gorgeous! And I absolutely love your fringe! Your hair looks so lovely! The bumble bee seal of approval was the icing on the cake 😂
Thank you! 🐝
Omg, obsessed with little Rainbow Skein's day in the life at the end!
i can't wait for the Netflix series.
It has the bumble bee seal of approval.
I see that whole rainbow as a dream, as a woven tapresty of everything we feel.
well that was a labour of love, and it turned out lovely and your little rainbow skein adventure at the end was just delightful. Appreciate all the work you put into your videos
i was getting carnival flashbacks when you started waving it around. no wonder you're attracting all of Nature to your position. what a beautiful way to celebrate Pride month. luv it!
It is gorgeous! I admire your patience; I have taken several runs at continuous strand weaving, and made some lovely things, but I was not in love with the process and have always sold the triangle and gone back to my floor loom. To each their own! You do lovely work, and in honor of Pride month, Happy Pride!
Thank you so much! I'm also in love with my floor loom, but I like to mix it up too. I'm glad if you didn't love your tri-loom it could go to someone who hopefully will enjoy it! Happy weaving! 🌈💜😊
You remind me of my aunt Athena. And it's really comforting since I haven't seen her in like...8 years. This is also a really fun project, and I love it a lot!
Pretty Gradient shawl! JillianEve tested, Bumblebee approved!
the looser
tension is so satisfying i can only imagine how good it feels to hold/wear!!
Your weaver mathin' skills with the tension is Doctorate level babe!!
Evies way of explaining her projects is so soothing and wholesome. I love watching it.
I love learning from you! Your smile is contagious!!
You have such a warmth about you ~ ❤ I absolutely did not intend to watch this whole video and only clicked it in a whim, but then I couldn’t look away. What a lovely project. It’s so cool that you could adjust the yarn yourself and just take some of the blue out to make room for the purple. The end result is gorgeous and I love your positivity.
Jillian your videos give me so much happiness. Thanks so much for sharing your positivity and lovely work!
This is such a happy and positive energy video and i genuinely felt so relaxed watching this, it wasnt overdramatic like some people are these days, it was the perfect mix of calm and excitement, such a lovely and rare personality to see these days
Beautifully woven! I love the rainbow gradient! I also like that it's a little open and airy. Your triloom is also SO COOL! I want to make one. 💜
Setting the project down and taking a step back to just...look IS the most important (and best) step in any creative hobby. For best results, this step should be completed at least once every half hour.
I don't think I'll ever weave anything but I'm still glad youtube's algorithm nudged me towards her sunny personality I loved that shes just like welp guess I'm doing this in the rain
This is really pretty I've never seen this before and i love your energy and how happy you were with the end result
I love the hair pick used to bet the weft into place. The gradient is gorgeous.
When you said warp speed ahead, everything clicked into place in my brain! Never thought being a trekkie would help me better grasp the concept of warp and weft but here I am, lmao thank you for this gem and sharing this wonderful project
its so impressive how you can reform the colors after having ti splice one baseed off your intention and prefernce of the piece- lovely and inspiring !!
That’s a beautiful shawl, and I love your pot holders! I had one of those looms when I was younger and recently started looking them up because I remember it being so fun.
It’s stunning! And it was so interesting to see your process. I never knew there was such a thing as a shawl loom!
Absolutely gorgeous!
This shawl is simply fantastic !!! 👍 🥳 🎉
I was having such a rough week and this video was so comforting!! thank you for showing us this beautiful work 🫶🏻
Oh cool! Beautifully done !
Thank you so much 😀
Absolutely stunning! And stunning on you!!
Gorgeous, absolutely stunning! :D
Great project! It came out so beautiful!
Its just so georgous, thank you for your sacrifice of wearing a woolen shawl in summer😊 and I really laughed at you beimg divebombed because you are the prettiest flower.
Absolutely gorgeous Evie❤🎉
This is absolutely beautiful!! I love all of this. Your energy makes my day. And the fact that it turned out so well?? Best thing I’ve seen online in a long time
Gorgeous! Both you and the shawl! ❤
Beautiful shawl and you are funny! Enjoyable!
Love the end. Awesome!
That's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen
So lovely! Enjoyed the BTS of product including lighting & bug life😅
This shawl is so beautiful 😍 I LOVE all the colors 🌈
hard work pays off! 👏
Gorgeous shawl! And your joy is infectious! Now I want to do something with the rainbow skein in my stash 😊
Great video and beautiful shawl! Happy pride ❤️
Thank you! You too! 😊
Very pretty, thank you for showing us the process..
Such a lovely piece of art!!!
What a beautiful shawl!! I do a lot of band weaving, especially tablet weaving and rigid heddle, but I'd absolutely love to have a go on a loom like this to make something a bit bigger. I'm currently working on collecting enough naturally dyed yarns to make a full rainbow belt
I don't think I've ever wanted anything more than this. Amazing. 🏳️🌈❤
This is a gorgeous piece. Congratulations! Been a weaver and can spin as well since the early 90s. Great work! I attempted the triangle loom once and just couldn't get the hang of it!... I'm jealoys!
I love this so much!! It looks fantastic for warmer weather which is my kind of shawl haha, I'm always melting. It's so pretty!
Beautiful and the gradients will help colour choice for future projects ❤
Stunning
absolutely gorgeous work, im obsessed with it ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Your gradient shawl is beautiful. Once you wash & block it can you show us. I’m curious to see how weave looks after washing.
Definitely!! It will finish drying today so I'll put an update picture on the community tab. Check back later for that. 😊
Just imagine if you got to do that on a winding machine. I did. Back in the 80's. But it went out. I loved it!
So beautifull! :D I love this yarn!
oh after hearing fiber friend i was glued
besides anything else .. I love your attitude about the weather
STUNNING
Absolutely gorgeous work ❤
Stunning! waiting to see for the blocked reveal.
I'll put pictures up on the community tab and my Instagram later today. It's almost dry. 🌈💜
First time watcher here! Your shawl, its stunning!!! I dont know what magic you did, but i need to learn🌈 Also, your funny and i like that😊
So so beautiful and it suits you perfectly 😍😍😍😍😍
Remember y'all. "Hello Fiber Friends!" means ALL friends.
Love the shawl 🤍🤍 Happy Pride Evie!
It's so pretty 🥺 You're so pretty
Genuinely so cool
I absolutely LOVED this episode. 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈 Your shawl turned out fabulous!
this is the coolest thing I have ever seen
This is gorgeous. I love the time-lapse at around 12:20.
If I had a garden I would start growing my own yarn too after seeing your video.
And then at around 14:00.... yarn pr0n! lol XD
That's stunning❤
That is really beautiful! You could find Bumble Bee broch.
Thank you ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
I love it!
Awesome 🤩
So gorgeous❤, I want to make one now 😂
That BUMBLEBEE
My five year old watched this with me. Her review, completely out of the blue?
"That was the 'smack me in the face' coolest thing I've ever seen!"
Only you could make a gorgeous pot holder with, what is effectively, a kids toy lol!!!! I have one of those and I made pot holders and it looked like a kindergartner made it for mother's day rofl!!!! I have a 6ft triangle loom. I am soooo scared to use it! 😅
Just go for it! Mine is 6 ft. too. I had some failures when I first learned to weave on my loom. I suggest you start with some scrappy yarn. Maybe pickup some oddball skeins at a thrift shop. If it turns out, then it's great! If not, you learn what to do next and hopefully won't cry over the loss of the yarn. Happy weaving!
@@JillianEve I honestly didn't think of using scrap yarn. I have some handspun that l specifically made for this loom. I've been so obsessed with the thought of using it that I didn't even consider using something else. I need to get out more...🤣🤣
Hi, this is soooooo pretty ❤❤❤
It is beautiful
I love it super pretty
1:16 I have never been able to remember the difference between warp and weft but this will fix that I think. Replacing L's and R's with W's in words comes so naturally to me post-Hewwo-era.
I need to know about the loom you used! Size, brand or maker, etc! 😍
This is gorgeous! I had someone build a tri loom for me and I think my yarn was too thin - what weight would this be that you used? Mine just slid into a big mess. Maybe it was because I used superwash? How are you washing this? It's beautiful! ❤
My yarn was a heavy worsted. This loom works best with bulky yarns which makes it perfect for textured art yarns. Superwash is slippery so that could have been your problem. The fiber I used was non-superwash BFL. When I finished it I slightly felted it so it sticks in place.
@@JillianEve thank you so much! I will try again!
I love your video and shawl! Was this a 7 foot loom and did you know the yardage? Thank you❤
I went and measured everything to give you accurate answers! The loom is 6'2" across the distance of the top row of nails. There are 149 nails across the top and 75 down each side double counting the last nail. It takes about 615 yards of yarn and does best with bulky yarns but I can get away with a heavy worsted like this project if it is a "sticky" wool. Hope that answers everything!
You're so sweet, thank you!
wow
🌈🌈CUTE!🌈🌈
Did you light one on fire ?
Yes! 😂 If I don't know what fiber something is made of, I light it on fire to see how it smells, burns/melts, etc.
Im subscribing to you.
omg seeing those little potholders brings me back to my childhood... my whole family went through a phase where we just made a TON of those for like 6 months, and almost 20 years later we're still using them.
Did not expect the yassified yarn to give me affirmation at the end but I'm into it.
I love you even more ❤thank you for supporting the 🏳️🌈 community. Your yarn and weaving are stunning 🎉
It's so refreshing and inspiring to see someone whose crafting isn't 90% swearing followed by hating the end result. Like. I am aware that often being cheerful and enthusiastic (or at least showing it) is a choice, and not always an easy one, so it's great to have your example.
I'm a terrible actor and worse liar so if I look like I'm having tons of fun, I promise it's genuine. That said, I don't like to be too hard on my outcomes. Even if it's not as I expected or hoped for, I don't want anyone who is thinking of trying a new craft for the first time, who maybe came to one of my videos to learn, to get discouraged. When anyone sees someone with more experience trashing a project that a beginner would be thrilled to achieve, that's not going to encourage anyone. It's even worse when you consider that many of us are fighting the urge to be perfect on the first try (unrealistic for any skilled craft). I think we can all find something good in our work even if it's just lessons learned for the next crafty attempts.
@@JillianEve I internalised in my teens that nothing I ever did was good enough, that being satisfied with anything was arrogance and/or indicated that you weren't trying hard enough, so I ended up only being able to see the flaws in my work and feeling like if I didn't exhaust myself on striving for perfection I might as well not have bothered at all. I'm unlearning that now, but it's not easy.
@@RandomAFP I came from a very similar place to what you are describing. It's not easy to undo those messages. I worked on my perfectionism by realizing that having pride in my work isn't conceit or arrogance. It's an act of self-respect and healthy confidence to take pride in my work!🫂
@@JillianEveExactly! It got easier when I noticed that the people who were loudest with those sorts of ideas were the ones who didn't do anything much, and then realised it was because they couldn't! First step on getting good at anything is sucking at it, and that's not bad! It's only by messing up that you really learn anything.
My goodness, who are you watching that they are having such a bad time? Crafting is supposed to be fun, even when you don't like the end result. It's the process. I just finished a shawl that I didn't like, so I sewed it together and made a pillow.
I love June, the number of rainbow projects just skyrockets! The yarn works so well for a multi-gradient (double rainbow what does it meaaaaaan) and it looks fantastic as a triangle shawl. I thought it was funny that you were weaving in the rain for a bit because obviously that's how you get the most authentic rainbows!
This video is perfect: rainbows, gradients, pin looms, and BUNNY!
That shawl is luminous.
Happy pride month everyone, whether you are a member of the LGBTIAQ+ community or an ally.
