Great show 👍 Eric Wind is such a wealth of knowledge and a trustworthy person in the sometimes questionable world of secondhand watches.
I loved this episode man. Please do more watch content. I don’t know if I love cars or watches more but I think I love them both equally. I watch you guys all the time. Keep up the awesome work! Cheers.
Matt knows that many car enthusiasts eventually become watch nerds, and he trusts those of us who aren’t there yet to catch up. He also brings the conversation back to car analogies frequently for frame of reference. I think this was masterfully done, and will result in new recruits to the watch hobby. And I thoroughly enjoyed it!
I went to high school with Eric. Very neat to see him on the podcast!
Met Eric about 5 years ago in FL at a home auction, great guy and extremely passionate/knowledgeable. Glad to see you guys get together.
The new timepiece gentleman.
lol, the timepiece gentleman wishes!
Haha! Nahh I've met him he's a top dude
The True Timepiece Gentleman
I absolutely love how many references to Carl are in this one, and I'm only 35 minutes in. Hell yes to keeping him alive.
Side note, made my day when I wore the Blipshit shirt of him, someone recognized him on it and actually wanted to talk food last summer at a local brewery.
I wore that shirt buying my first Grand Seiko and got two compliments on the taste quote on the back of it from people at the AD. Later that day, I stained the front of it with BBQ sauce eating some great BBQ pork sliders at the only local joint that charged a reasonable amount for Blanton's and also makes some fantastic cheese curds.
Loved the ep, there can never be enough watch conversations.
4 yrs since the passing of C.R. Wow time flies.
I don't know why i listen to this podcast just makes me feel like a peasant. Keep up the good work man!! Loved this episode
Bro hearing all these rich dudes on TST inspired me to become an entrepreneur, before I just assumed you work a normal job forever then die now im trying to buy a Testarossa 😂
Don't get the obsessive topic about exclusive wristwatches. Most car enthusiasts are actually more likely into power tools, just as myself. If you talked about some exclusive power tools as tools for a DIY garage, I'd be salivating and hyped.
I feel the same way about watches as I do diamonds. It's just some overpriced item that people buy to climb the "status ladder". As much as i'd like to listen to tooltalk, Matt would probably admit himself that he's never used one.
Great show! As a listener that has become more interested in watches, this guest was appreciated! It would have been nice to ask Eric some car questions as he stated he was becoming interested in them at the beginning of the show.
Never clicked on a TST episode so fast. Awesome episode!
I'm a regular listener and I can say the lowkey brag from Mat is always there..the father, the 2 navy Rolex, etc etc...he tries to stay lowkey but from time to time he has to brag.
Well if that isn’t the most fitting last name ever! Can’t watch until tomorrow morning but I had to comment that
Great podcast....I like the change up from cars. I too am a watch and car guy.
I wish these guests that turn this into a watch podcast were featured on a bonus weekend show or something. Just not interesting to hear about jewelry
I’m so happy to see from time to time a topic that interested you Matt. Thank you for the content
I just switched over from the audio podcast and for once this guy looks exactly like what he sounds
I'm only 30mins in but really enjoying this episode. I don't get to watch the podcasts very often so it's a nice change.
I picked up an automatic Seiko just to test the waters and see if I'd wear it, but the bug didn't bite. For some reason I still enjoy listening to conversations about watches, though. I can appreciate the craftsmanship and their mechanical nature.
Nice to have something different from the usual car talk. Eric's great! Thanks for making this happen.
I don’t understand the hate of quartz watches. I understand the appreciation of mechanical movements for their engineering. But modern quartz movements, especially Solar GPS, are superior in every way.
The movement itself is more accurate. W/ solar you don’t have to worry about battery changes. And w/ GPS-Atomic sync the watch is always accurate and you don’t have to ever adjust it(outside of traveling across time zones). There’s a reason I most often wear a Seiko Astron or Casio Oceanus.
Seiko made the mistake of not going for the kill and allowing the Swiss industry to survive. Now they’re trying to be like them and are increasing their prices while not giving you products worth the cost. Specs aren’t everything but micro brands give you better value in some cases. But even w/ them you have a lot them charging more than the sum of the parts because of hype around the brand.
excellent show,, love the ikepod!
Talk about cyber truck already
Why? He can’t be objective about it. Just watch Jason Camisa’s review. He didn’t see to have anything as to say which was the odd part.
Honestly rather listen to a elon truck episode. I couldnt make it through this one
Who cares about that thing. Seriously the dumbest vehicle ever.
I’m a watch lover, and I’m so thankful for this crossover episode. I learned a lot.
Love this episode, nice mix and change. Also love your watches Matt, totally agree with your embracing of creativity. I have a lot of great watches, but my favorite are the ones with a story and with some uniqueness.
I didn’t know Mr. Roger Farah has a Patek 5711 😮.
Hell yeah!
If you like Rowan’s Creek, try Noah’s Mill. Same distillery and way better bourbon (and still not that $$).
I bought a watch from Eric a few years ago. Good experience. The dude on the right is a joe rogan wannabe.
I have two Seiko Bellmatics, and even though I never actually use them as an alarm they’re very very cool watches
fantastic show ..... PLEASE MORE WATCHES ASAP
Start a different podcast for this shit
Great episode....the non car related content is a welcome breath of fresh air one in a while, especially with such cool guests. And Matts exp 2 is a great watch with an even better story that shows what collecting is about imo. The 2 deep seas are on the other end of the spectrum 😂
Holy crap, this guy says yep and yeah to everything.
Matt do you have any quartz watches or not ?
Really enjoying this episode so far; for the "use the watch"/"drive your porsche" thing, my dad's panda '93 Breitling Chronomat he has had since new sat in a drawer for about 10 years, I had him recommission it and then he wore it truly sparingly and he asked me "do you want it"...I've been daily wearing it ever since and I'm struck how well it holds up.
I had a 2541.80 Seamaster that held up like dogshit to daily use, you could not wear it and not need the odd polish here and there, I'm impressed how well the Breitling is.
I've seen similar age Pepsi GMTs irl that were worn as such for years that look like they've been through a warzone; underrated feature of this watch right there, it definitely depends!
Edit: Matt just mentioned his 27 mins in being beat the fuck up! There ya go! 🤣
If you're not into watches skip to 1:48:24
I am not much of a watch person - have a couple seikos and some quartz stuff...but these pods make me want to be a watch person, lol
Watch collecting is fun but your wallet will quickly grow to hate you lol
@@edkwononly if you let it. It’s gotten a lot more expensive over the years. Blame the internet for that part.
@@Bob_Smith19 funny enough, my expensive watch taste has gone down over time, because I’ve hit the point where instead of spending $5k+ on a watch I would rather just get a crappy fun car
Not necessarily a watch enthusiast, but I - like many people- just like to look at these kinds of watches and kind of aspire to them. Enjoy the quality of a nicely engineered 'thing'. This was a fascinating listen
CYBERTRUCK
Appreciate the feedback on the Birth Year watch. There is a novelty of it, but good to know how uncertain it really is. Turning 50 and was looking for that 70"s era Rolex or Speedy as a gift to myself. Know now to look for condition and look, not necessarily the exact date presented.
Never been this early on a podcast!
Fun fact, the host of this podcast is a proud socialist. If you had any idea what that ideal is doing to the United States of America, you would have a very different opinion of that line of thinking.
You are a waste of space, educate yourself and be better. @@xprettylightsx
Matt winning the f-bomb battle against Joe Rogan 😏
Re: concern I watch theft in a big city, that's exactly what I tell people who warn me about getting robbed
'that's what long shirt and jacket sleeves are for' 🤔
Great show, I really hope there's more watch episodes in the future, loved the carl episodes on watch and listen
Ĺove when watch people come on, switches up what i listen to while working, dont get much work done as i keep coming back to see what your talking about lol
Cyber Matt😂
Hear here, watch this
Dude had the perfect opportunity to change the pronunciation of his last name to Wind with a long I like wind your watch and didn’t do it…
Can you do an episode with Cameron Weiss
PLEASE BRING BACK WATCH & WOUND! RIP CARL!
A car podcast entirely overtaken by a watch episode. I’ll pass
I will never understand the obsession with watches. Cannot be convinced its anything but insecure flexing and vapid consumerism. Has to be a skip for me
Many people feel the same way about cars. Just because it’s not your thing doesn’t invalidate other people’s enthusiasm/appreciation for said object, hobby, etc.
Tiny mechanical machine that keeps time. I find them, and all other machines fascinating. Not thousand of dollars worth of fascinating but…Seiko has helped me scratch the itch for less than $100.
WWCB: What would Carl buy?
i'm casually interested in watches and have a small collection -- but i'm not a watch fanatic. if you're gonna do off-topic episodes can you at least use chapter markers?
The Ikepod is extremely overrated and over hyped: honestly the design is very bland and nothing special (and actually most of the models looks bad). I would put my 8k on something else for sure.
Who just wears watches around the house thats just so odd to me, unless you're a psycho that also wears shoes in your house all the time
What? You must be younger. Putting a watch after a shower in the morning has been my ritual since I was a little kid. But I use a watch for its intended purpose, to tell the time. I do not want to pull my phone out to check the time. I don’t have many clocks in the house so the watch tells me the time.
@Bob_Smith19 yeah I'm 32 and I only pull one of my watches out if I'm going somewhere and even then not all the time
THIS GUY CLAIMED THE CYBERTRUCK WOULD NEVER HAPPEN😂😂😂
I thought he had a whole show dedicated to watches? I understand “his channel he can do what he wants” 🙄 but this is why he is known as Matt “Stick To Cars” Farah true I don’t always agree with him but I do enjoy the car content and while I also respect the watch game i don’t believe it is conducive to the channel.
Great episode! For cooking the Panerai regatta, the Tudor FXD chrono. But just get an Orologi Calamai g50!
