This is an elegy. In the end, he goes into the sea alone, because we all must. The key, though, is to live in a way that means we have people cheering us on from the beach.
I've just passed my 'four years clear' from Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, and so many notes, beats and images from this ring deafeningly true. A wonderful song, matched beautifully by its video. Respect.
The best music video I've ever seen , great acting and great music nothing better to be fair tells a great story of 2 brothers , hit me right on the feels.
Moving and beautiful, maybe my favorite from these guys. They keep taking it to another level ... 2:08's wall of sound, the titanic drum roll at 2:30, that plowing rhythm guitar at 2:51, the awesome lead part at 3:33. A lot of songs end with a whimper these days, this one gets better and better. I saw the videos for "Backroads" and "Victory Line" and love what this band is doing.
I like to think that the final scene where he emerges from the water is a reference to being born again, and the start of something new. The lack of a sad ending almost confirms this idea of mine, to myself anyway. What a beautiful video.
Lonely The Brave are in my top 10 favourite bands of all time. This song is a prime example of why... Conveying such emotion through the power of the vocals paired with the rising epicness of the guitars and drums in the second half of the song makes me want to just sing. It's just a massive song. If this isnt played in a stadium in the future i will dissapointed. Unfortunately they didn't play this live when i saw them but i hope to see them again soon. Keep making music guys.
This is the first ever track/video that I have heard and seen from these guys, and dude the meaning of the lyrics and the video hit me hard. To say I have never felt a band pull on my heartstrings until now, wow just wow.
I always listen to this song whenever i feel that my own life seems on the 'down side' as such... Its a super powerful tune, the lyrics and the video are s strong and when i listen it brings me back up to normality. I remember first meeting Dave and all the guys in a little pub i worked at many years ago and from that initial 1st gig i saw/heard, i was instantly hooked! Still am to this day... Ive heard, seen, watched and loved a lot of bands in my time on this planet but LONELY THE BRAVE are constantly my 'Go To' band of ALL TIME for me. Ive seen at least 10 of there gigs through the years and the same songs i heard just sounded absolutely perfect every single time. Such a downer Dave had to leave but for good reason. If you read this LTB, Know that what you did/done in your time was unreal not just for me but im sure for so many people. Your lyrics played on heart strings, with the videos made grown men cry and I personally will always never forget our times we hung, drank and partied. You guys just for me are 1million% the reason i keep doing what i do, keep going and push myself. Im glad to say that i have LTB in my memories, on Vinyl, CD, videos on my phone, Merch from your gigs.... LTB is just GOD to me. (i hope theyres many other people who have the same feelings as i do) ps TELL MO TO MESSAGE ME IF YOU EVER DO A 'ONE OFF' RETURN GIG!!! I WOULD PAY ANYTHING TO SEE THAT. Much Love. Joe (that guy from The Swan moons ago)
What gets me about this video is that they're men. Men struggling through pain. Men crying into a shoulder. Men caring for each other. Men loving with all their heart.
Such an incredible video. As much as it unearthed emotions that I thought were buried after losing a brother at 19 to cancer. It also made me smile because he too lived his short life to the full. Thank you for your talent x
One of the best videos I've ever seen. And Lonely the Brave is each time closer and closer of becoming my favourite band ever. I cried like a little kid while watching this video, this band is exactly what the world needs, they send extremely powerful messages through their music and also through their videos. LTB - Greetings from your greatest fan in Brazil, Edd.
I've lost 2 family members and a friend to cancer, This song fits the video so well and has made me realise my one regret, not spending enough time with them appreciating the time that they had left. amazing band, amazing song and very tear jerking video.
This song saved me just reminds me that every time I think about bad thoughts I still have some great friends around that help me get over all my problems
This video amazes me every time I watch it, never fails to put life in perspective when you need it. Incredible band, so humble as well, can't wait to see them for the 3rd time at reading festival! A huge gig for them on the main stage, I'm sure they'll kill it :)
First heard them on Zane Lowe's radio one set. Been amazed by them ever since. This video is soooooooo touching. I said two years ago they were a band to watch out for and boy are they proving me right. The album is perfect.
I read an interview with these guys. They opened for the Deftones on one of their tours. I love the Deftones and they usually pick really great bands to open for them. I'm please with this. Good band right here.
I used to listen to this when I was about 13, and I remembered it recently but couldn't remember its name for the life of me. I'm so glad I found it again, the feeling is indescribable 💛
This was an 'advert' video before a Disney music vid (sorry) I was about to watch but ended up watching this the whole way through. Good music and exceptional vid.
There was one time, there was sunshine And the clouds staggered in Oh the clouds staggered in I was crossing down a hillside I was tied up in the blue and the green. And there was progress In a process of a hope that fell on me Oh the hope that fell on me Then you wake up in a hollow There’s a black mark where your heart should’ve been. So carry me out to the garden so I can breathe it in Cos’ I’m in trouble again Oh carry me out to the garden so I can stop me the end Cos’ I’m in trouble again. And when I woke that night and my head was spinning round It was spinning round I could’ve laid down and died But my head was spinning round It was spinning round. I want to know what it’s like So I can feel it inside. I want to know what it’s like So I can feel it inside. I want to know what it’s like I want to know what it’s like Do you want to know what it’s like? Yeah. Cos’ I want to know what it’s like So I can feel it inside. And I want know what it’s like So I can feel it inside. And I want know what it’s like So I can feel it inside. And I want know what it’s like So I can feel it inside. Just that feeling. Just that feeling
This reminds me of the music I listened to in early 2000's. A very familiar sound, but can't put my finger on it. Early Biffy Clyro maybe? Hundred Reasons?
I'm a grown male, and this video makes me cry like a little boy
+Christophe Houben Crying as a grown man does not make you a little boy, it only makes you human with a caring heart. :)
+Crystal Ortiz so true 😃
+Christophe Houben Every single time, damn
Me too
Right in the feels
Thanks to every single one of you for your support in 2014, it’s a year we will never forget. Looking forward to seeing you at our shows in 2015.
Would one of your shows be in Manchester - UK, cause I would love to see you play there *o*
Your music is great.
yamikoAMV
Yes it is!
please make this into a movie. Bring it over to Sundance film Fest 16.
Angelo Antonopoulos the movie 50/50 is very similar basically the same concept with joseph gordon-levitt and seth rogen
One of the greatest songs ever written. You can't watch this video with dry eyes. Perfection.
This is an elegy. In the end, he goes into the sea alone, because we all must. The key, though, is to live in a way that means we have people cheering us on from the beach.
Excellent analogy, completely agree
These guys seem to have an unbelievable talent of linking the audio meaning to the visuals. Just beautiful.
my thoughts exactly :)

Congrats fella
Stay well!
Hope your still fighting strong dude
There's no way that was four and half minutes. Feel like I've watched a full film from that. Amazing
ItsJordanValentine actually it was 4 minutes and 28 seconds..... 😂😂😂
Probably one of the most heart warming music videos I've ever seen
+Aledleww check out victory line by these guys
The best music video I've ever seen , great acting and great music nothing better to be fair tells a great story of 2 brothers , hit me right on the feels.
+aidan davies check out victory line by these guys
I've seen all of there videos every single one is amazing this is still my favourite though
Lonely the brave with Dave would have deserved at least one grammy nomination and if they had won it would not have been unfair.
Who’s watching in 2024? This needs to be a feature length film, absolute masterpiece of a song and video combined.
Moving and beautiful, maybe my favorite from these guys. They keep taking it to another level ... 2:08's wall of sound, the titanic drum roll at 2:30, that plowing rhythm guitar at 2:51, the awesome lead part at 3:33. This is so sad but so beautiful makes me miss my Dad so much 5-7-2015

The guy with the beard... Amazing performance!
Proves, that one person, can make a difference..
This could have been so sad and I'm so glad they kept it happy. Beautiful song.
This song was BRILLIANT live
the essence of pure rock.
I like to think that the final scene where he emerges from the water is a reference to being born again, and the start of something new. The lack of a sad ending almost confirms this idea of mine, to myself anyway.
What a beautiful video.
Can't believe I've missed this song till 2022. And this video, it's just perfection
This song at Leeds fest this year actually made my day!
This is first class. I'm staggered it only has 50k views. It deserves literally 100 times that number.
One of the best music videos out there.
