  • ► Hello and welcome back everyone. Today we're going to try and use modern technology to breathe some life into the historical portraits of the very first Presidents of the United States by adding facial animations. The history teaches us that United States declared independence from Great Britain, on 4th July 1776, during the American Revolutionary War that lasted about 8 years. The Declaration of Independence has been largely written by Thomas Jefferson who was a member of five-man committee, appointed by the Continental Congress, that included John Adams, Roger Sherman, Benjamin Franklin and Robert Livingston. The revolutionary war ended with the Treaty of Paris on September 3, 1783, signed by US and British Representatives, recognizing US independence and granting US significant western territory. On April 30, 1789, George Washington, as a political leader, military general, statesman and Founding Father, took his oath of office as the first President of the United States.
Check the video to see the first 10 Presidents of the United States, in a way as never seen before. Enjoy.
    Featured in this video:
George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson, Martin Van Buren, William Henry Harrison and John Tyler.

It is fantastic how this technology breathes new life into the American Presidential portraits. They are no longer stiff figures but gently animated to show their humanity and even a brief smile. Excellent. Love the animations in this series. You help bring history to life.

The founding generation has always fascinated me. These were men who, if they had failed, would have gone down in history as hated traitors. They not only risked their lives and reputations, they risked the future of their families, their descendants.
They were not only very fluent in French, as it was the international language at the time (not English!)...most of them were fluent in several languages, including Latin. It was common to graduate from both school and seminary by the time they were teenagers. Very few of them actually wore the wigs they were depicted with in paintings. Artists of the time would add the wigs because it was almost scandalous to be bare-headed. Americans were independent and bull-headed from the start lol.
John Quincy Adams, for example, was part of American diplomatic missions in Europe while studying law, French, Latin, & Greek, and attending college.....this was when he was 11 years old!!
At 14 yrs old, he was the secretary of an American diplomat in Russia!
Now in modern times, we think we're so much smarter because we've learned how to push buttons on a cell phone that someone else invented, and we ridicule the founders and demonize them.
I think they were not only brilliant...they were very, very brave. Much smarter and much more brave than most Americans living today in the nation that they created.

      Jamie, I appreciate your perspective.
But please remember, "we" don't all live in the same way. I spend infinitely more time with musty books than on my phone. :) As do many of us . But History is being stolen. Write down everything you learn. No one can ever take that!
The Founders were incredibly smart, I wrote a letter regarding why a Governor was disregarding the U.S. Constitution by fining people for going to church a few days ago, and again marveled at the foresight in the Constitution.
Those men couldn't know that politicians in the 21st Century would use a terrible pandemic to make themselves more powerful. But they *did* understand human nature. Really well. I will never cease to be amazed at the minds of those people. Yes, they were imperfect. They knew it. They knew we needed to grow. But they did, along with many whose names are lost to history, create the most free country in the world, and in the famous words of Benjamin Franklin, "A Republic, ma'am. If you can keep it".

My three oldest sisters were killed in a car accident in 1963 when I was four years old. I don’t remember them that much. They were 20, 18 and 11 years old. My mom said I was really close to my sister that was 11 years old. I don’t remember anything about her at all. My last memory was being at the funeral home with my grannie holding me. I reached out to touch one of my sisters hands, she had on the long white satin gloves, and my grannie wouldn't let me. I wish the color pictures I have of them could be brought to life with their eyes and lips moving like in these videos.

It wasn't about their teeth. For some reason, people simply did not smile openly for portraits. Quite possibly for the same reason we see the same in early portrait photography. It's *very hard* to sit and keep a big smile on one's face! Everyone in history didn't have bad teeth. If they all did, that would be the norm, and they wouldn't have cared!

@Human Being George Mason the founding father, few people have ever heard of, mosty, with help from Thomas Jefferson, was the one who convinced James Madison to change his mind regarding adding a Bill Of Rights to the 1787 Constitution. Madison had voted to ratify without a Bill Of Rights. George Mason did not vote to ratify the 1787 Constitution. George Mason, was a Virginia slave owner, and tried to persuade, to no avail, the 1787 Convention to Constitutionally free the slaves! The Library Of Congress has a summary of the minutes of the convention posted online noting the various states' delegates to the convention, who participated, how they participated in all the various discussions that make up the Constitution.

Please note that DNA is not the only source of information I have for my Jefferson and Washington lineages - it was just the first tip. There are a few documentaries that show what Washington looked like. One you can find here on UA-cam. It is about death masks, and has not only his but Lincoln's as well. A death mask will show more detail than even a picture from a camera. The other one is called, if I am not mistaken, The Real George Washington. They show him (in wax) through various stages of his life. Both really good docs if you are interested in history!

All of these men, lived & died, believing in America. They have their lives, their blood, their oath for that love, that belief. All for what? @@aaliyahkassim9142 My dear Aaliyah: I spoke above of modern principles versus what each of these men, individually had proposed within the framework of the Constitution & the Bill of Rights. Precisely, what they'd envisioned for Americans. Long before the days of the American Revolution, came the European Puritans (Pilgrims). Of those, whereas, disease was spread (smallpox, etc) and Indians (Native Americans) were enslaved. It is true that the American Indian, in it of themselves, were not as peaceful as historians have noted. Nevertheless, my point is that long before the Revolutionary War, natives fate had been determined. Here, these Revolutionaries, (none of which enslaved American Indians) sought to throw off the tyranny of the European (British Crown). The very same puritans who'd enslaved and massacred Native Americans. What these men sought was freedom from tyranny, each giving their blood, sweat and tears, their lives even, to assure that future generations would live freely. What have we done? We've spit in the face of these men. I would argue that we spit in the eye of God, when we destroy the Constitution, as it was inspired by God. (Inalienable Rights) and they speak of their and our 'creator.' We must Support and defend our Constitution. We must not shed off these Patriots as traitors. They were traitors, but only against tyranny. In that case, I, too, am a traitor. Thank you for you comment, Ms. Kassim. You also have the last name of one of my radio idols, with whom my voice has been repeatedly repaired. Kudos, young lady.

This is amazing - I've grown up looking at these men with the stoic expressions, but they look like they're alive! I've spent many hours walking through the Independence Hall area of Philly, and there's so much history there (pre-911) where you could actually touch things and walk in the same footsteps as Washington and Franklin.
