I will never forget seeing her in Thoroughly Modern Millie shortly after it opened on Broadway. I had no idea who she was, had never heard of her. In the 15 years that I watched Broadway plays, it was one of the few times that I thought, This is a debut that will launch a career that will be legendary. She had a comedic talent that reminded me of Carol Burnett and a singing voice that lifted the roof off the theater. I saw the show 3 times. The last time I watched the show, there was a group of girls, 13 years old or so, that were such fans of hers. When she sang "Gimme Gimme" at the end, the girls sat forward and stood up to cheer when the song ended. It was so cool to see how she inspired those girls.
I had no idea Sutton Foster is a huge broadway star when I first learned of her on Younger. I just loved her show and was sad that the show ended because it was fun and the cast was wonderful. Sutton's delightful and I hope to catch her on the Music Man.
Yes, been watching "Younger" and I have no idea who she was because I never heard of her name in movies. The show was great. It was addictive , you never want it to end and continue watching. She's a great singer, dancer and actor, all in one. I just love whatever she does.
It took me 2/3rds of the interview to realize where I knew her, Bunheads, just because her hair was down. I love her voice. I have to admit I did not have an urge to see The Music Man until I found out she's in it. I'd love to see her live.
I will always carry a grudge against ABC for cancelling her show "Bunheads" after just 1 season back in 2013. I loved that show. It could have been a new "Gilmore Girls."
Never heard of it. 😯 I hated it whatever network cancelled High Society with Jean Smart. It only lasted i think a few months. I thought it was very funny. I spotted Schitts Creek as a hit when i saw the first few episodes. It took awhile to catch on.
I saw her in The Music Man a couple weeks ago... absolutely delightful. One of my favorite shows I've ever seen! I definitely recommend going if you can.
Sutton Foster is a national treasure. I first saw her not on broadway but in Flight of the Conchords, and boy was I shocked to find out that she had a whole other career outside of awkward comedy sketch TV!!!
she is literally so perfect. i really want to see her in music man (i’m at least hoping for a cast album!!!!) but i did get to see her in anything goes which was literally so cool (2021 west end cast slapped). from the clips that i’ve seen i bet that she’s killing it! literally the desire to see it is so strong 😭
For all of these people who know her from TV, you NEED to watch her Anything Goes and I don't Wanna Show Off (Drowsy Chaperone) Tony's performances. Also her singing Astonishing and Everybody Says Don't are favorites of mine. And throw in some Shrek just for the fun of it
Dear Sutton Foster, Just yesterday, watching another interview of you and Hugh Jackman, thought - I'd like if they would do a podcast together. Now, I hear you say this? You must. love, longtime fan
My youngest is OBSESSED with “Shrek The Musical”…and in particular, Fiona, played by Sutton Foster. I have watched that show and/or listened to the soundtrack every single day for the past three years. She is just amazing 🤩
She was adorable. I initially was gonna skip this because I’m shallow and didn’t recognize her, but I’m so glad I didn’t. Really happy for her, great gift, and now I wanna finally check out Music Man (and not just for the Simpsons reference)
Why not invite putin to the show, make a big deal about bringing him to NYC with full diplomatic privilege. Then when he gets to the building, seize him and take him to Rikers Island.
"The Music Man. Ath the WInter Garden. Go see it." Yeah, well, I wish I could. But Theatre is strictly for people with Money. As in, _serious_ dosh. Tickets *_from_* $99. FROM. OK, so let's see, that's Mom, and Pop, and Little Johnny, and Janet, and of course we can't not take Grandma - OK, $ 500? No? Oh, all the balcony seats behind pillars are already taken? I see. A thousand dollars. And those are still up in the nosebleeds? Uh huh. Not to mention whatever you buy at the interval at a Show - $35 boxes of Whispers, I guess - and probably a night in a hotel after because it's a 2 hour train ride home and, well, maybe it's not a good idea to do that at 11 o'clock at night? Yikes, who can afford that? How is it that shows run for months on end? Must be lots of wealthy people in Amurrica, I guess.
@@christopherbedford9897 $99 for this is an absolute steal for nearly any Broadway show. Honestly, good luck getting your hands on those tickets when it's actually Sutton and Hugh that performance. Those go well north of $300 each. You pay more when there are big names attached and you're seeing a show on Broadway. If you want to have a nice night out for not a lot...go see a community theatre production. Support your local theatres.
@@MBrulla I think you're missing the point, plus - no it's not a steal. It's *expensive,* i.e. it's not for working class people. $100 might be _relatively_ cheap but it's not _cheap._ Also, bear in mind "from" could mean there are a handful of seats at that price and the rest are probably indeed at $ 300 or maybe more - I didn't bother checking. Yes I know Broadway is pricey. That was exactly the point I was making. That, and the apparent fact that there are lots of people with money because lots of shows go on for months and longer.
@@christopherbedford9897 Supply/Demand. I'm not sure what the point you're making is. If you want chances at cheap tickets...do the lottery. Arena tour tickets for basic concerts are usually well over $100, too. Things cost money. The more in demand something is the more expensive it becomes. The less supply of something there is...the more expensive it becomes. I mean...almost everything in demand costs money. You need to have income to enjoy those things. You need income to do...anything. Still not sure what you're after.
I so hate when entertainment people call what they do an 'industry'. That is just utter totally shuddering bulltish. Real industry would spit you all out in five seconds.
"Industry" just means hard work. If you are ever so privileged as to spend time among musicians or actors, you will learn what industry really is. I've spent 15 years working for large and small corporations (which is probably what you mean by "industry"), and there's an incredible amount of laziness and incompetence that just would not survive a single gig in the performing arts.
sutton is the sweetest..i love her vibe and energy. You can just tell she's a good one. Also, the crochet mug is super adorable!!!!

she's dancing
What a bubbly, toothsome, talented person. Sutton, sweet Sutton.
Sutton Foster's appearances on this show are so delightful!!
Never heard of Sutton Foster until this…I think I’m love!!!
LOVE SUTTON! we need more of her and stephen! They could be such a great duo!

Sutton was nominated on the West End today for a Olivier Award for her performance as Reno in "Anything Goes" this past summer.
Saw The Music Man on Friday, loved it! Sutton and Hugh were awesome!
Thanks ❤️

Not gunna lie, if I had Sutton fosters lipstick on my cheek, I’d never wash it off 😂😂😂
As a fellow crafter I can totally relate to marking occasions with crocheting something. Kudos to the toilet roll cover
Read her book "Hooked". It is FANTASTIC !
Adore her, the musical and Stephen❤️

100% agreed.
I agree, I love that show

Im only just discovering it now. I am also watching Gilmore Girls. Needless to say im a huge Marvelous Mrs Maisel fan.
Sitting here crocheting an afghan as I watch this. You go girl!

Such a brilliant actress! I love her! Great interview! 💜

I have seen her in lots of TV and even in person at The Broad Stage in California. I read Hooked and highly recommend it. She is soooo talented.

I’ve said it before (while watching her on The Late Show) and I’ll say it again: The world needs more Sutton Fosters.
This audience was so dead. Come on, it’s Sutton Foster!!

She is such a joy to listen to. If you’re in a bad mood and you hear her…how can you not smile?😊
As an Australian who is a huge Hugh Jackman fan, I’m so delighted he made your teacher’s night at the theatre!
I was blessed to see this show while they were still in previews and it is nothing short of wonderful!
Thanks ❤️
LOVE the mug toilet paper cozy. It's a hoot. Would love to see The Music Man. I've never seen it. I immediately like Sutton.
Work . Learn . Love . Peace . Joy
Wow Hugh Jackman, too funny about her old teach! 🤣💕👍
Like her!!!😘😘

That little mug is so cute!
Unfortunately for me I missed the Music Man, I really hope Sutton Foster does some other show sooner rather than later, because I'm there.
I’m a fiber artist, and now I want to read Sutton Foster’s book.
800 of those likes are from Jonathan Groff!
broadway actors are always so animated 😂
"You didn't clap?"
"I need time. I'm not going to conform."
🤔 What a curiously _teenage_ sentiment.
Carpet Chat with Hugh and Sutton.
Who?
Hugh.
Who?
Hugh.
Who???
Very funny.
😉
Troy Michigan’s finest!
She looks so much younger than she actually is.
If you are male and do not have an absolute crush on Sutton Foster you just are not paying attention - or - you are . . . going to.
And now in 2024 hugh and Sutton are in a relationship
What’s there to not love about her!
2:04 HEAR ME OUT-
Theatre people do it best.
Ah, yes. _Carpet Chat._ From the people who brought us _The Doily Show._
What's wrong with you ? Why all the snark ?
That 'mug' is the right size to be a bourbon bottle coozy too.. just sayin'.
Do not try your ATM pin number on the microwave to reheat beverages.

WHY DID HE NOT SING HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO HER DAUGHTER!?!

GLORY FOR THE HEROES IN THE UKRAINE WAR. Can you say that Stephen?
This nice lady has a daughter on the spectrum. I wonder if she know.
Why not invite putin to the show, make a big deal about bringing him to NYC with full diplomatic privilege. Then when he gets to the building, seize him and take him to Rikers Island.
She went to my high school. She farted near me at science class. Now, she's a Tony-award winning actress.
Dude stop trolling .

Get over it. Look at the quality of the show, consider the performances, costumes, staging, etc. Best $99 you could spend.
