This episode of Hekayat looks into the existence of slavery in Mauritania and attempts to find its most prominent manifestations. Following their liberation by the anti-slavery humanitarian organizations, Hekayat attempts to understand the reason the state obscures crimes that were committed by some of masters against their slaves. In this episode, we will see the story of Um Alkheir who along with her children and after strenuous efforts by humanitarian organizations was finally liberated in March 2010. However, the Mauritanian police prevent the media from talking to them out of fear of revealing slavery secrets.
