      @@ViciousXUSMC well...i dont know if i got a bad relay or not but it lights up like yours but it always has a short on it so it always stays in sleep mode. any suggestions?

      @ViciousXUSMC 2 роки тому +1

      @@greenflintriver If you used the same relay, swap your connection, it has one normally open and one normally closed. You should be opening the relay on power, so you want to wire to the normally closed connection.
      The lights and the clicks will let you know the relay is working. So thats the first step.
      The video shows all those things, so just make sure yours is mirroring what mine did, and make sure you have the jumper wire for the relay activation side, you need power to the board, and to the relay.

    I ended up doing something similar on my XLS2500 but with a 3.5mm jack mounted on the chassis and everything else inside. Looks like factory installed. It accepts 3-32v DC as trigger input just like any other high end power amp.

    This works well if you have a relay with dry contacts (i.e. the relay doesn't send power to the contact you close). Be aware some relays are made for lighting and are simply a remote light switch and will not act like a trigger but will send power to your connection.

    Panamax power bar m8 av-pro has an 8 plug power bar, 4 plugs are controlled off a 12v trigger from your avr so easy set up for crown xls amps or external devices like hard drives you wish to shut down with one remote. Works great.

    Thank you so much for this guide.
    I am currently researching everything I needed to build and install 2 15 inch subwoofers into my existing home theater with avr as brain box to the system. For a passive big home subwoofer it seemed everyone on the internet went with these style amps because of their high watt per dollar, but one thing eluded me and it was their lack of trigger which was a hugggee buzz kill. Knowing that there's an easy solution is a life saver, will probably save me about 500 bucks over a home theater oriented external amp with 750-1000 watts a channel

    Hey, nicely done and well explained. I've got a 1002 on the way and from reading the manual I know I can turn off the lights on the front, but when its in sleep with the lights on does it blink continuously or stop after a bit? I don't so much mind the lights when on, but the blinking might drive me crazy.

    I wish this guide had been around when I bought my crown amp. I ended up buying an IoT Power Relay for around $35 and wired it to a USB cable plugged into a USB port on my receiver that powers on when the amp comes on. Not a bad solution for somebody who isn't comfortable with a lot of wiring.

      Better Late than never :) My ultimate solution was a Panamax Pro unit that has the 12v trigger built in, since I have 6 of these in my setup, having them sequence and not be on all the time was nice.
      I also integrated it to my Alexa so I can turn it on/off via voice command.

      Been using the smart switch solution for atleast a year now and no issues.
      I automated it with a Panamax unit with a network card so that from voice command I can turn everything on/off with the added benefit of staggering, so they turn on one after another with a couple seconds delay.

    I have a couple of matrix distribution amplifiers have an input for a 12v trigger to wake them up.
    These rascals periodically go to stand by and I cannot shut that function off. Soooo, my answer will be to wake them up periodically (hit them in the ribs with an elbow as they are falling asleep so to speak) or perhaps keep the trigger on continuously.
    These seems to be a variation on what you did here but I do not have the skills to create it myself. Can you help?

      If you just want to feet 12v to them, that should be easy enough. Get a 12v power supply and just wire it up using the best connector for the job.
      No need for fancy relays and such if always on is your goal (or use a smart switch to turn that power supply on/off when you do want them off)

    • @ViciousXUSMC
      @ViciousXUSMC Рік тому

      @@sdsmall1984 No, current is a determination of the load.
      Amps never fry a device, voltage does.
      The load will determine how many amps are drawn.

    I have a QSC 302 that doesn't have any kind of interface to set up a trigger, that I am aware of...and I would very much like to have the ability to do so. Is the power sensing power strip that you posted a link to able to solve that problem?

    • @ViciousXUSMC
      @ViciousXUSMC 6 місяців тому

      Yeah so many ways to go about it.
      Power sensing strip is just the easy way for most people that dont want to make things complicated.
      Have it connected to a device that will only be on when the amps should be on and has enough power draw to trigger it.
      I am using Panamax units now with advanced home automation that lets me turn them on in sequence with delay via voice command lol.

    I contacted Crown and asked if there were any issues just powering the amp on and off through a master controlled powerstrip, where my AVR is the master. When the AVR is on, the rest of the powerstrip is energized. When the AVR is off, the rest of the powerstrip is off. Crown said it would be fine.

    • @ViciousXUSMC
      @ViciousXUSMC 8 місяців тому

      That's what I have been doing for about a year now but with a Panamax unit that is triggered by my home automation to be voice controlled.
      Specifically I used the Panamax so that there is a delay between them turning on/off to prevent huge surges.
