That entire elevator ride was an emotional Rollercoaster. Mild boredom, to hilarity, to pure awe, and then nervous hilarity.
Just want to confirm the editor’s feelings and say that the Unity XY axis joke was, in fact, very funny.

I live for moments in games like this. Just absolute awe. Reminds me of when Vinny Vinesauce beat Subnautica and as a joke, started playing "Space Oddity" by David Bowie as he lifted off and it just... lined up so perfectly, and on absolute accident. Look that up the clip on here if you get the urge. Too good.

I loved the exploration/wonder aspects almost as much as the overcoming of a big baddy.

Dude fucking nailed it, this feeling of discovery and wonder is so rare these days. Tears of the Kingdom is another game bringing that back with the entire underground area being hidden, and the feeling I got when I realized just how massive it was.
TotK doesn't do what Elden ring. With totk you can basically see how big the map is but elden ring doesn't tell u that. Also the the underground isn't hidden there's literally a quest that u get near the starting area. In ER you fumble into the underground by chance
This place was the spot in the game that sold me. Had no idea it was coming and it blew me up.
After highlight 2 I's started my own watching of the full series. There are like 50 2.5-3.5 hour videos so I have a ton of content to watch.
And it's all pretty great. You've got a lot to look forward to.
I did the math because I was bored, its 180 hours of Day9 Elden ring
Not sure if Sean already knows, but there are 4 extra equip slots on the right side of the menu. If you hold down the Y button and use the d-pad you can have some extra quick item use slots. I think it might be triangle + d-pad on PlayStation, but I don't actually own one to check. I usually put my spectral whistle on Y + UP, and my good boy's raisins on Y + DOWN, but you can put whatever you want on it. Helps keep your bottom items more manageable.

those things never attacked me too, maybe it's the torch that makes them aggresive.

Contrary to popular belief, fall damage is consistent and not hand tuned. It's just that that consistent rules are unintuitive and create the illusion of inconsistency.
11:31 and when you get to the 800th page, you suddenly realize that this is just a part of a lager volume. When you almost finished the volume, you found out there is another volume, and another volume, and you finally realize it is just a part of collection

Anyone else convinced the Ancestor Spirit is, in some way, connected to Torrent? Aside from being a deer-like creature, its aerial jumps have the same effect as Torrent's double-jump, complete with the same sound effect.

Siofra is magnificent, chills when I first went down
The only other time Ive had a true 'Holy shit' moment in a game was when I found that super open underground area in Skyrim. Except in that case it ended up being alot of nothing, whereas in Elden ring you get a whole nother game.

It always so cool to watch other people play this game, because there's just so much there. Like those stone snake enemies? They never once attacked me. I didn't even know they had attacks, LOL!

I think I spent 200 hours on this game so far done multiple playthroughs it just soo good nice to see Day9 enjoy it as much as I have especially accidentally going down the first well

I spent 1500 hours in this game and I can confirm that you MUST defeat the horse guy at the start to unlock your own horse.
Yeah this place is one of the best reveals in the whole game. It's so great.

idk how nobody in chat ever mentioned the rainbow stones use to check for safe/dangerous falls (which has been in the series since DS1!)
Everything about this seems like a playthrough I’d want to watch but I know I’ll be suffering the entire time not able to tell you to put the lantern and the horse in the pouch and to level up vigor to stop getting one shotted
TIL the stone ruins snake things actually attack.
I see he still hasn't figured out how to level up vigor at all. Its one of the best early game things you can do so you don't instant die to some bosses. Damage is nice but not being one shot is so much better.
Who needs vigor when you've got the fingerprint shield :D Sorry, I'm quite far into his playthrough lol

I wish we could try to seek communion with the ancestor spirit instead of killing it. Like, why did we kill it? Couldn't we have talked with it and gotten a questline to lay the soul of the ancestor spirit to rest or something? I feel sad that the way the tarnished interacts with this majestic being is just by killing it.

It's never too late to start any game, especially FromSoft games, try out elden ring and just have fun and don't rush yourself

I do apologize if this spoiled some of the game for you. Since Sean has had such a positive spoiler free experience, I've been doing my best to toe the line between spoilers in the thumbnail and generating enough interest to click so these videos can be justified for the cost and man hours it takes to put them together. I also have a spoiler warning in the beginning of the video so you won't actually see anything about any locations or anything. Was it the word 'hidden' that made the title a spoiler? If it had just said "by this zone" would that have eliminated the spoiler for the title and the thumbnail? Because the thumbnail is just the sky. I'm genuinely asking because I'm doing many more of these and want to know where the line was crossed. Thanks!

i think the main culprit is the background image. just the fact that there is a 'purple night sky zone' is spoiler enough i think. the title is fine since its expected to have hidden zones.. maybe just remove the background. and when you put 'hidden zone' in the title anyone who has played the game immediately knows its gonna be his reaction to one of the underground areas so you wont lose on engagement there... Sean's OoO face in the thumbnail is enough honestly

fall damage in elden ring makes 0 sense.
the reason it seems so nonsensical is theirs a very small window where you take damage but dont die, anything under 16 meters you take no damage and anything over 20 meters kills you, so you can survive a 19 meter fall just fine but a 20 meter fall will instantly kill you, and that 1 meter difference is almost impossible to tell from sight
Except it's actually perfectly consistent.
20m = death
What is even more bonkers is that the horse can fall further and not take damage. But the second you go over the fall limit you instantly die. But there are so many paths in this game gated by knowing the exact falling path you need to go. Most dungeons are straight forward but the castles are so intertwined with one way paths of falling down with hard jumps to boot.
But the issue is the horse controls like shit. It isn't precise but the game wants you to do these precise jumps like a platformer in some sections. Like the dungeon to get an item for an ending, HATED the platforming on it.
@@Zeratultheking This is why you use Rainbow Stones. If the stone shatters on impact, the fall is fatal. If it doesn't, it's safe.
Use rainbow stones.. also, anything that reduces fall damage can only reduce damage if the fall is non lethal. Lethal falls don't cause damage, they just kill you, so reducing damage won't work.
Man I'm thoroughly enjoying these highlights. 🤌
