I just realized that the guy Skip rudely kicked out of his shop is the same guy who buys the shop and becomes skips boss near the end of the film....
Legendary comedian Mitch Hedberg as the wheel salesman
They grip 😏🤙
They used to grip. they still do, but they used to, too.
MITCH...... @@helygg8892
@@reffidexyeah, they both have vowels in their names and they both have fingers too, crazy right?
I just realized who that was!! You know escalators can never be broken, they can only become stairs.
Didn't realize until now that the guy they kicked out ended up owning the store at the end.
Omg, great observation! I would have never caught that
I always quote “urethane man it comes from oil” whenever anyone asks me what anything is made out of 😂😂😂 and of course “they GRIP”
cool testicles dude.
This movie is special to me my homeboys growing up literally modeled ourselves after these guys' skateboarding was our life when we were younger, and this movie made us just wanna live our life just like this lol hard imitation i love skateboarding i dont skate no more but it's still a big part of my life and where i pay my attention
Can't believe how well Ledger had Skip's west coast drawl down.
By far the best skateboard movie of all time. My mom used to board back in the day about the same time this movie took place and getting to watch it with her was a fun experience.
MVP 2: Most Vertical Primate is the best skateboard movie
But have you seen the search for animal chin?
Your mom used to board all the dudes around town is what she used to do 😂😂🤣
chino thought he was the toughest guy in all of venice til jay clacked him in the face w/ his board 😂😂😂😂💀💀💀💀💀
all seriousness wish we couldve seen more of peggy, shogo, reddawg n some
of the other z boys
that's mitch headberg...no way, lol
I remember seeing this on repeat on my friend's house he had cable good times still have the psp movie
Love that they are talking about making money off the kids, and the same time making fun of Peralta for having a job.
Yeah I just watched a few clips from this movie and my perception of the film has completely changed from watching it so many years ago.
yeah that's kinda how it boiled down in reality too, everyone kept making fun of Peralta because it was like everyone knew he'd sold out, but then everyone started to realize people were selling out to Stacey now, he had made a franchise.
and learned how to by actually working jobs
yup
@@ThePhukst1kmaybe because it's edited. Watch a hard copy
Imagine if a modern skateboarder went back in time to this era and showed these guys modern day skateboarding. Their heads would exploded lol.
Emile hirsch absolutely KILLED jay adams mannerisms. It’s insane.
"Where's my cigarettes" lol gets me every time
Loved Heath in this role. Man had so much range
Tbh I thought it was Pete haha
Nah, he wasn't allowed to shine until dark knight, he did mostly pretty boy roles which was a shame
@@Pepespizzeria1not completely true his role in The Patriot was definitely a great supporting role to Mel Gibson’s leading man. I wouldn’t say he was the prototypical “pretty boy” in Knight’s Tale or Brokeback Mountain either. Dark Knight was his second big time breakout role. His career was really just getting started.
Amazing movie for all ages. The ending is emotional af.
RIP Health
i can watch this movie on repeat all day long!!!
I always forget about this movie but every once in a while it pops up in my timeline and it just brings back good memories
Just watched this last week while tripping lol
Love how I have this movie on dvd but whenever I see it on UA-cam I usually click lol 😂
such a great clip, I grew up in Los Angeles not far from where this all was filmed, my elementary school and junior high had the exact same asphalt embankments, and - of course - kids skating them all afternoon long
These actors nailed it...surf punk rock😂
how the fuck did i never realise that's mitch hedberg
I had the same reaction. Never noticed!
its so fun to watch this and imagine a time before we were warped by our smartphones and social media.
Bro I forget so often, but social media has had this wave of retro-inspired channels and accounts that constantly remind me. Never forget where you came from or you'll get sucked into someone else's way of thinking and acting when you don't want to.
I had an amazing childhood compared to the kids now, born in '77.
@@commonsense_revolution was just telling my mom i wish i was born in 75
Nothings stopping you from doing this.. quit your bitching and do something if you want to
Yet you choose to engage with it and make youtube comments on your smartphone
I saw a documentary that featured the guy Heath is portraying. That's when i realized how good of an actor he was.
DOGTOWN AND Z-BOYS
Damn I never even noticed that was Mitch, RIP to 2 legends in the scene.
0:18 😂😂😂
The introduction to urethane wheels made skateboarding smoother twisty and gripping.
In those times roller skating and skateboarding wheels are made of wood and vulcanized rubber. And they don't grip good.
Good lord...
Heath Ledger
Mitch Hedberg
Legendary.
Great movie.
In 1977 rode my new G&S Fiberflex 27" with Bennett Pro Ads and RoadRider 6s from UCLA over to a grade school named Kenter that supposedly had banked walls. The walls in this scene sure look like those at Kenter. When I arrived there were a dozen or so guys skating; I recognized Stacy Peralta and another younger kid who was pretty famous at the time, Baby Joe Constanough (I think I'm mangling his last name). I just googled "Kenter Elementary School" and some of the banked walls are still in place. Those were the days...
anyone remember getting the psp bundle with this movie as one of the things in the bundle???
I have such awesome memories of that time And it’s way sad that our kids didn’t live it too.
Don't feel bad at least our generation (millennial) still got to play outside and have friends... my generations kids "the tablet generation" or gen z are the ones you should feel for.. everyone is addicted to the internet now and can't even have fun without a device.
We really missed out on Mitch Hedberg movie career RIP. Dude was just getting into acting.
"Surf it like a wave man!"
And look what happened in the end. They judged peralta but because of him skating is what it is today. No bones brigade without peralta.no powell peralta sponsor for Tony hawk or many other greats of the 80s. yes the others I their crew laid the groundwork the foundation's but peralta not only lived the dream he brought it to millions of kids with his boards. The rest are just footnotes in the creation of modern skating.
Some people remember HL great acting from The Dark Knight or The Patriot
but i remember him killing the role better than any
RIP legend ❤
the old wheels 🤣
Was this before street skate was established? Awesome.
I didn't realize the Hanson brothers were making movies
Bro this movie so far and never got the recognition but now the algorithm can set sail
co-worker would visit me with his lab, Sam, found on the beach in Santa Monica where I lived. He was a vet, serious surfer, and hard worker. you didn't surf the pylons off the pier unless you were very skilled, and the Zephyr crew would not tolerate amateurs.
..locals only
Was not expecting Mitch Hedberg
Can this be anymore 70s California
Thumbs up for Kyptononics red.
"I love long hair" while literally everyone had long hair
in cali durnig the 70s no one had a cut. past the ears was still considered 'short'. Long would be half way down your back 😂
Mitch!!!!
I had no clue that was Mitch Hedberg!!!
Just realised the guy with the wheels is mitch hedberg. 😂
Yeah, get a haircut man. Says the guy with the same hair but more curly lol
🔥🔥🔥
I wish i grew up in the 70s
its kinda funny how he sounds like franco in disaster artist
that was peralta presenting the wheels right?
my dad beat them at the comp in this movie , my gma didnt let him go to the next torny , he was 13 at the time lol i hear about it all the time
holy shit.... i just realized the photographer dude with glasses and lonb black hair is Pablo Schreiber!
Yeah, I discovered him watching him in Halo so when I saw his name in the credits for this, I was like Where is he?
RIP Mitch
I faked being sick to stay home from school and watch this movie all day
RIP Mitch Hedberg
Wasn’t Mike of Suicidal Tendencies brother one of the boys?
Rip Heath and Mitch
Heath Ledger. I just think he was great in this movie.
Listen Dark Knight was great, but this might be Heath Ledgers best performance he absolutely nailed this characater
Smuash, smuash, smmmmuuaassh
I forgot Mitch headburg was in this
Twenty bucks says i can say want i want here
is that mitch hedberg!
yeh get a haircut man haha
Fokken Mitch.🔥🤘
BIG F I WAS THINKING ON THIS MOVIE AND JUST POP OUT THIS DAY sht youtube is watching us
MITCH!
🏴☠
Why is the valley hated??😅
Vals were competition for waves...
Dont forget most those dudes were sociopaths ....
what a bunch of kooks.
How did I never realize that is Mitch Hedberg giving Skip the wheels?!
Rookie mistake
Remember the part of the movie is when Jay murdered a gay man outside Okidog in 1982...
your weight should be on your front foot not your back foot smh
Maybe all those chemicals is the cause of his brain cancer.
It's funny that skateboarders think we think they're cool! 🤣
Why is the acting so bad ?
Jesus is returning soon everyone!
He died for our sins and was buried and then rose from the dead because He love us so much.
Whoever believe in Him as Lord and Savior will be saved.
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23
gnarly doood
Totally
Lord, in this moment I choose to fix my eyes "not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal"
(II CORINTHIANS 4:18).
on the 4th day he rose again and invented urethane wheels
hes a bandit and a heartbreaker oh but Jesús was a cross maker
More like lord's of gay town
Holy crap wha Mitch Hedberg was in this haha
Eurawhat? 😂
A random Mitch hedburg appears
The good old days before tiktok
