My father was a navy second class diver. He started in 1951 and spent 7 years back n forth to the u.s. naval powder factory in Indian head Maryland. This is where they had the the EOD school. He was a master EOD and retired as a gunners mate chief. He joined the navy in Oct 1940, was on destroyers and mine sweepers in the Atlantic north Africa and the Mediterranean. His destroyer got hit by the Germans and he wa sent to the Pacific. He was at the battle of Sariago straight, leyte gulf and battle of Okinawa.
